While Sailing to Sapodilla Lagoon Marina at the Reserve Belize, Desiree has a panic attack! Hello NAMIBIA!!! The fog clears and there is LAND, and Luderitz is our first Namibian stop :) After one of the easiest check-in's ever we explore this awesome little town. First order of business- Mr. Brady visits the biltong shop where he finds a secret love potion from China, which he promptly tests on the girl crew. We happen to arrive just before the 10 year anniversary of the Luderitz crayfish festival- the biggest party weekend of the year! We eat heaps of lobsters, dance our little hearts out and meet some incredible locals. Before setting sail north we explore one of the absolute highlights around this area, The Ghost Town! Previously an old German settlement for the diamond workers and their loved ones in the 20th century, it was abandoned and swallowed by the desert. We overnight sail to Trinidad, about 80nm south of Grenada after having to firstly sort out a few troubles with the engine before we could leave. Came across a few oil rigs and little fishing vessels as we motored through a beautiful channel and moored in Chaguramus bay. We are in Trinidad to install a watermaker in preparation for the Pacific, so our adventure is put on hold for the next week as we are working on the installation in the marina. Aglaia is a spectacular 66m sloop-rigged aluminium yacht designed by naval architect Dubois Design. The large sloop rig is all carbon with EC6 rigging and gives a sail area to displacement ratio equivalent to a racing yacht. With the motto to develop a 60m+ yacht that sails like a dinghy, the design and build team set specific targets like hoisting the main sail in less than two minutes and tacking the boat within 30 seconds. Vitters Shipyard developed an innovative storage system on two drums in the forepeak for the Staysail and Code 1. In addition, Vitters designed a new type of furler for the Staysail to increase safety of the crew by completely avoiding manual handling for large sail hoisting and setting. Aglaia started off her second Mediterranean season with a spectacular novelty: she now carries a Code 1 artwork by the Norwegian art designer Magne Furuholmen. This is the worldwide largest artwork on canvas. Though one can hardly call a 3600 sqm painting a detail, this is yet another confirmation of nearly every single detail of this yacht being extraordinary. Not all Wal-Marts allow overnight camping, in fact most in CA don't allow it and many Walmart's in larger cities don't allow you to sleep in your vehicle. Always call in advance to verify their overnight parking policy. Luckily there are several answers to this problem. For now, let's talk about one. Wal-Mart Camping! It's not my favorite place to visit. They are lacking in the eco-friendly and small business department, but they have one big thing going for them when it comes to helping the weary traveler: Many are RV, truck and car camping friendly. They are one of the few retailers that allow you to stay in their parking lot overnight. When you are on a long trip and can't find any rest stops or campgrounds along your route, Wal-Mart starts looking pretty good. The important thing to remember when doing this is to do it the right way. So watch the video, take some notes and let us know if you have any other helpful advice for others. Welcome to our crazy sailing channel, where we laugh at ourselves regularly, others occasionally, and try to contribute a bit of humor to an otherwise stiff and overtly PC world. We tend to call ourselves white trash, rednecks, and hillbillies. And of course our boat is a Privilege catamaran. Hence the title folks. So don't go gettin' your panties in a wad. We complete our time in Fakarava by diving with sharks and then head off on a 40-hour sail to Tahiti. In the meantime, we sit down and make plans for the next year of sailing plans and also share with you THE BIGGEST FISH WE NEVER CAUGHT! Two night-shifts later, we arrive safely and drop anchor in Papeete and make our inaugural stop at McDonalds! We then get settled in for a minor squall and a couple of weeks of shopping, restaurants, and hi-speed internet.
