The Saxdor 400GTO has all the hull characteristics of a fast and efficient twin stepped hull. But this new design with the roof, drop down sides and an interior layout that will transform to suit so multiple requirements is truly ahead of it's time in my opinion. Once again Sakari (Head Designer) has created a boat that both looks cool, performs great but is also priced very competitive and performs more like your own 'Private Island' instead of just a boat to take you places. I was imagining myself spending a whole summer living onboard this boat in Sydney which is not a dream I have ever had for an Adventure Boat. That's the difference to this design - it is going to welcome a lot more people into this category because they will look at the 400GTO and realise how well they can fit it into their own Boat Life. Is it perfect - No. I'm yet to find a perfect boat and I found a bunch of small improvements that I think Saxdor would benefit from implementing. Are they things that would stop me from taking a bet on this boat - No. I think this will win Boat of the Year for it's category in 2025 because when you consider price, performance and layout it's going to be hard to beat. What do you do stuck onboard for 5 days as your house is beaten by the wind and waves? As sailors we live and die by the weather. Every morning wake up, make some coffee, then check the weather. Sometimes the forecast is nice and we can stay put, but sometimes we gotta move our house to somewhere with better protection. In this episode we decide to move Delos to a new island to seek better protection. We have a fantastic sail set the hook, and begin exploring the amazing uninhabited island of Buena Vista in the remote Ragged Islands of the Bahamas. We say our goodbye's and stock Delos with provisions and fuel for the next 2 months. After a last incredible dive in Cocos Keeling Brady washes his hands off the back of Delos and WHAM! Neighbouring countries had closed their borders and Malaysia went into a 2 week lock down, which was continually extended every 2 weeks. Countries borders were closed and it seemed for at least the next few weeks we would not be travelling anywhere. The streets were becoming empty and people were told to remain in their houses. We did not want to be around civilisation so we did what us yachties do best, head off grid to our our own island home. Living off grid for months at a time is nothing new for us yachties. We are always trying to seek out the far away tropical paradise places away from everyone and everything. Now with the pandemic really taking over the world, now is the best time to do what we do best. With a boat well stocked and ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, our plans change and for now itt is time to head off grid for lockdown! With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed on our home ended up on the reef. We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! Known for its world class diving, in both the South and North pass. We couldn’t believe our eye balls!! We hired a little beach bungalow for the night, where we could watch the reef sharks casually swimming around just metres in front of our room while the new SLV episode was uploading. I could easily stay here forever, but there’s that one problem we’ve been banging on about for some time now…. WE NEED FOOD. Here we will wait, until the weather clears up and we can sail to the north side of the island and stock up (but I really don’t mind if it takes another week…. hehe).
