We sail from the Lifou town of Chepenehe to Joking, stopping at a secluded beach along the way where we have a snorkel on a beautiful coral reef in the clearest of waters. At Joking we meet the chiefs wife Clarice to pay our respects and are invited to have a traditionally cooked dinner. Clarice's wonderful daughters act as waitresses and delightfully serve us. We then sail to the most northern island of the Loyalty group of Ouvea. Ouvea has a 25 km beach of sand fine like talcum powder and as white as snow. Even with cloudy skies the water is a beautiful turquoise blue. We check out Lekiny lagoon, and the towns of Mouli, Fayaoue and St Joseph But the biggest highlight was when walking back along the beach, we find a Nautilus washed up onto the shore. After saving it from a certain death on the beach, it slowly recovers. After spitting out a great deal of sand, it appears quite well again and we return it to face another day.

We work our way east across southern Spain along though the white mountain villages of the Sierra Nevada. We visit Almeria and then spend some time in the Cabo de Gata near Las Negras. We’ve pulled the kids from school and are home schooling while on the road and the water. We spend time aboard our 34ft sailing boat in NZ and have bought a motorhome in Europe so as to tour the other side of the world. We’re keeping our memories on video here and the kids write narration and play guitars so we have music to use in the videos.

Short-Eared owl: Asio flammeus, or 'Shortie', is mostly seen out and about in the daytime and easily spotted in the wintertime when migrants join resident birds. Look out for it over the moors and saltmarshes. Short-eared owls mainly hunt during the daytime, flying low over tussocks grasslands, moors and saltmarshes to feed on field voles and small birds. Similar size as the Barn owl, but with longer wings. The short-eared owl breeds in Northern England and Scotland can be seen more widely in winter depending on storm wind directions. They tend to nest on the ground in very rough ground cover scrub like Gorse, Blackthorn & brambles in scraped-out hollows lined with grass and downy feathers. Filmed in Cornwall around October/November over suitable hunting grasslands on the Cornwall coastline. You will often see up to half a dozen owls all hunting together, quartering the area. Fights often happen mid-air if-then encroach on each other's patch. The owls get mobbed, hassled or attacked by other birds, including Crows, Jackdoors, Magpies, Ravens, Kestrels, Peregrines; you can see invasive tactics and wing clapping ward off predators. Depois de reiterar por muitos anos que nunca teria um animal na minha casa, uma cadela pariu na porta da minha residência e fui "obrigado" a cuidar da mãe e de dois filhores. Não gostava desse bicho. Mas, a partir do sétimo mês de idade notei que o macho (o THOR) era muito apegado comigo. Então comecei a leva-lo diariamente nas minhas caminhadas. Criou-se, entre nós, uma amizade muito bonita e elogiada por pessoas amantes dos pets. Com o tempo, de forma natural e impeceptível, o cão passou a me obedecer em muita coisa, Inclisive não atravessandoa rua sem minha ordem. No mês que completei 66 anos, e o Thor 2,5 anos, por insistênica de amigos e principalmente da minha filha, comprei minha primeira bicicleta da vida. Quando fui pedalar a primeira vez meu corção partiu ao deixar meu amigo. Tentei coloco-lo no guidão, mas ele é grande e eu muito barbeiro. Então encostei a bike e não andei enquanto não comprei um reboque para puxá-lo. Como sou aventureiro por natureza, resolvi criar um desafio: sair de Morrinhos, GO, e chegar até Paraty, RJ, onde mora minha filha. While sailing from Mindelo, Cabo Verde , Africa, to St. Lucia in the Caribbean, we hooked a gorgeous mahi-mahi in perfect conditions, great for our first time attempting to land such a large fish. Antics ensued, no fingers were lost and no persons overboard, thank Neptune.
