In this episode, we have a leisurely sail out to the coast of Palos Verdes and then back in. A total of around 13 miles that gave us the chance to raise the sails for the first time in over two years! Before we left First Mate fixed two tears in the Main, but then we were on our way. Sorry for the poor audio in some places. It was due to a new action cam that I was testing, and I did not have my other audio gear available. The cam produces fairly good video, but the audio is really bad and I could not process the over modulation out of it. Thanks for watching! The passage to New Jersey is blocked by a stationary high pressure system north of the Bahamas with no wind, followed by rain and thunderstorms for days on end. They have to make a detour via Norfolk, VA as they run out of fresh water and get very low on diesel. Heading North but it all goes south. We continue our journey North as we need to get to the boatyard in Whangarei to get some work done. The weather does not play ball and we end up having to head south to Waiheke island. Some playful dolphins distract us on the trip. Over the course of the next few days we manage to get anchored outside the boatyard ramp with time to spare. È questa la promessa che il Sindaco di Santa Margherita ci ha fatto quando siamo andati a trovarlo dopo il disastro della notte tra il 29 ed il 30 Ottobre. Ma partiamo dall'inizio. Appena siamo arrivati a Santa, esattamente un mese dopo la mareggiata, la sensazione che abbiamo avuto è che non fosse successo niente, un po' come se la cittadina fosse stata miracolosamente risparmiata dalla furia del mare. Questa infatti è la prima cosa che facciamo presente al Sindaco Paolo Donadoni che ci risponde con un sorriso un po' amaro. "In realtà", ci dice, " il lavoro di ricostruzione e messa in sicurezza della città è cominciato fin dalle prime ore della notte e la mattina alle 9:00 le strade erano già state liberate dai detriti e dalle imbarcazioni permettendo così a tutti i mezzi di soccorso di lavorare senza interruzione". Ad oggi, i danni in tutta la città ammontano a circa 37 milioni di euro di cui 15 solo per l'area portuale. Niente paura però! L'amministrazione di Santa si è già mossa in merito per reperire i fondi necessari affinché il tutte le infrastrutture necessarie siano rese operative in tempo utile per il via del VELAFestival. Nous partons aujourd'hui à la découverte du lac Karihani avec Samion, en stage au GEPOMAY, le Groupe d'Etudes et de Protection des Oiseaux de MAyotte. Le lac Karihani est l'unique lac naturel d'eau douce de Mayotte. Il attire toute l’année de nombreux oiseaux dont le crabier blanc, une espèce protégée en danger critique d'extinction dont on retrouve 20% de la population mondiale à Mayotte. Une soixante d'espèces d'oiseaux ont été recensées par le GEPOMAY autour du lac dont on peut faire le tour en empruntant un sentier. The 2021 Investwise Irish Sailing Youth Nationals took place from 28-31 October in the Royal Cork Yacht Club, Crosshaven. 143 young sailors hit the water at the biggest youth event in Ireland in a range of different classes including the 420, ICLA 6 (Laser Radial), ICLA 4 (Laser 4.7), Topper, and 29er. Youth sailors and parents also heard from a range of speakers every evening, including Rio Silver Medallist Annalise Murphy and Olympians Robert Dickson and Sean Waddilove. The 2022 Youth Nationals will take place from 21-24 April in Ballyholme Yacht Club.
