We are in Panama and more specifically the San Blas Islands. We’ve been here for 3 weeks getting to know our sailboat. Its been full of great people, beautiful beaches, new foods, and Boundless adventure. We are sad to say goodbye, but it seems as though this sailing life is constantly pushing us in directions we don’t expect. You see, Katy and I have recently had a conversation that goes in circles with NO conclusion. Until now. Our original plan was to settle into Boundless with this shakedown cruise, and then continue sailing east, and then north, back up into the Bahamas and to the east coast of the United States for hurricane season. Something we quickly realized is that it is VERY hard to sail away from Panama, once you are in Panama. The Caribbean Sea is notoriously rough, and all of the prevailing weather patterns are against you. So just as we always say, "we have no plan and always stick to it". After consulting all of our weather routing books, we have decided to go with the flow, and head west, across the Panama Canal, and into the Pacific Ocean. This week we are taking you along with us for 2 days of beautiful westward sailing, away from the San Blas, and back to Linton Bay where we will tackle a couple projects, and then sail back to Shelter Bay Marina, where we will prepare for the adventure to come. Erica returns back to the boat after going home for 2 weeks and we quickly scramble to get the boat ready for our last sailing trip with friend in La Paz. We have spent another fantastic season in the Baja and our time here is coming to an end. We welcome aboard our friends, which would be our last until we cross the Pacific Ocean. After a few days off, the Alinghi Red Bull Racing Team came back out of their temporary shed at the Barcelona Nautic Center today with Dean Barker jetting in to start putting the pedal to the floor as the light-weather that has dogged the Mediterranean for a week finally broke, producing winds in the upper bracket of safe sailing. Nils Theunink confirmed what the recon teams saw on the water saying: “The boat feels lighter and more controllable and the mainsail looks so much better.” Clearly a big tick to the Alinghi Red Bull Racing engineers and sail designers who have been slaving over the design and build for months, since almost the start of the programme Section 41. Reconnaissance a) As a campaign cost reduction measure, COR/D has mutually agreed to cooperatively implement a centralised reconnaissance programme for all teams for the reconnaissance of all Competitors’ AC75 Yachts, AC40 Yachts and LEQ12 yachts including both on-land and on-water imagery (the “Joint Recon Programme”). b) Each team is assigned a two-person Recon Unit to follow their every on-water move, but it's not that simple. The cameras are supplied and identical for all Recon Units. Drones are not allowed, and they can't get that close, plus following a boat and keeping a camera steady at 45 knots isn't that easy to begin with. c) A three minute interview follows each on water day, and teams must answer the Recon Unit's questions while trying not to give too much away. It's a raw, unedited view of the never before seen behind-the-scenes development of a team and their boat to win the oldest trophy in international sports. #AC37Recon #AmericasCup #Barcelona2024

ThirstyThursday at Dana Point Yacht Club was host to the first ever timed public races on Hobie's new Mirage Eclipse stand up pedal boards. Multiple heats and one super heat, five harbor buoys were used as race marks in a squarish shaped course. Men under 18 yrs and all females raced on 10.5' boards and men over 18 raced on 12' boards.
