In this video Bob makes a mini T-Bevel gauge. In boat building there are many times the shipwright will need to measure and transfer unusual angles. One such circumstance is the measuring and the cutting of rolling bevels. A T-Bevel is the tool of choice and a small bevel is very handy to have available in your pocket to reach difficult areas. It was going to be our most luxurious 24 hours of this trip and we couldn't believe it. A big bed, hot showers, good food and nice views. The weather does not seem to be letting up, and we need to take Elements on her last sail from Sao Miguel to Terceria. Passing up on what seemed like the best window at the time, we enjoy what we know will be our last week in Ponta Delgada...what has now become one of our favorite cruising cities to relax in. And even though storm after storm rolls through and we even go to a rooftop bar to watch 4 meter waves roll by outside the harbor...just two days later we're on our way again. Making the overnight sail, we're surprised at how nice conditions are as we leave and even have the perfect send off with a group of dolphins that come to say hello. So its early in the morning and Ian is on his way to work when the fuel warning light comes on. Not really thinking about what he is doing and just going through the motions he stops in a our local garage and starts filling it up. Its not until he has half filled the tank that he realise's the mistake he has made. This is the story of what happened.

The broken timbers have been removed and then re-planked by a local Thai contractor. To cover the timbers on the outside and to fill the seams the guys used an epoxy filler which I ground right back ready for fibreglassing. I had already back filled the seams on the inside with an epoxy wood glue and then fibreglassed over the lot including the structural ribs. The outside is now ready for more fibreglassing and we tackle the biggest glass jobs we have ever attempted. Before the reef scenario, we thought it would be fun to get a crew member on board for the sail across from Thailand to Sri Lanka, Laura from another Youtube channel came to join the crew and it was helpful to have another set of hands for the final fibreglassing job. Nandji is nearly ready to go back in the water and the repairs are coming to an end, the only question now is... Will our boat float??? With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed on our home ended up on the reef. We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! Hello Everyone! Here we are in Norman's Cay, one of our stops down the Exumas. We heard of a couple of places to check out including an old drug lords house and sunken plane! Our friends from Penyav IV also decided to take us to dinner! This was one of the last days that any restaurants were open before the COVID shut down. Anyways enjoy the video and as always let us know what you think! COVID-19 UPDATE As of our time in Norman's Cay: At this time the Bahamas were just starting to take action against the virus. The last few cruise ships were leaving port in Nassau and no more were allowed to enter other ports in the Bahamas. We heard the restaurant at Highbourne Cay, which we had left a few days prior to Norman's Cay, were temperature checking everyone that came ashore as they are a privately owned island. We also heard everyone flying into the Bahamas were getting temperature checked. Regulations were just starting to be put in place.
