If you’re considering a Targa 32, one of the most common questions we get is: Bow Seating or Comfort Fore Cabin (CFC)? Ben Scheffer with East Coast Yacht Sales breaks down the key differences between these two popular layouts from exterior seating and entertaining space to interior headroom, storage, and sleeping comfort. The Bow Seating configuration maximizes outdoor space and social seating, while the Comfort Fore Cabin increases interior volume and delivers a more traditional berth layout. Both are excellent, it simply depends on how you plan to use your boat. Want to build a Targa 32? Reach out to Ben Scheffer using the info below 👇 Cell: +1 (603) 724-5309 | Email: bscheffer@ecys.com Discover More about Targa boats 👇 https://ecys.com/new-yachts/targa/ Let us know which layout you would choose in the comments below! SUPPORT our REFIT and help us continue to make these videos: www.red-seas.com/refit We are taking on a huge refit on our sailing catamaran, fixing a lot of things that have failed over the years and upgrading a lot of systems to better suit our off-grid lifestyle. With a 20 year old catamaran, we have lots of thru hulls that are starting to fail and we will be switching these out soon - but besides these holes in our boat, there are two more that make us worry even more. In this video, I remove and replace them with a far better solution, thanks to Henley's Engineering in Auckland. Can AI make manual paper charting faster and 100% accurate? In Part 2 of our Google AI Navigation series, we bridge the gap between high-tech planning and old-school execution using the Master Navigation Table. It’s time to take those digital calculations and apply them manually to our paper charts. In this tutorial, we will use traditional tools like parallel rulers, dividers, and a compass rose to plot our route seamlessly—proving that cutting-edge AI is a sailor's best friend, even offline. We also take it a step further by verifying our new midpoints! We feed our manual chart data back into the digital realm to cross-check every single coordinate for zero-error navigation. You can copy the last version of this prompt (V7.4) below: Role: Marine Data Engineer Task: Convert CSV into a Navionics-compliant GPX 1.1 file with unique, collision-proof labels. ### INPUT DATA STRUCTURE The input will be a CSV block with these columns: [WP #], [Dist Next], [Coordinates DMS], [True Brg], [Decl], [Mag C], [Dev], [Comp C], [ETAs...] ### PROCESSING RULES 1. Coordinate Conversion (CRITICAL): - Input format is DMS (e.g., 01°13'38"N 103°32'11"E). - Convert to WGS84 Decimal Degrees for the GPX output. - Formula: Degrees + (Minutes/60) + (Seconds/3600). - Precision: Round to exactly 6 decimal places. - Hemisphere Logic: South (S) and West (W) must be negative numbers. 2. Chartplotter Metadata Injection: - For every Waypoint tag (wpt), generate a Comment tag (cmt). - Comment Format: "Comp C: [Comp C Value] | Dist: [Dist Next]nm" - This ensures backup manual bearings are visible directly on the digital plotter screen. 3. Route Sequence Construction: - Generate the individual Waypoint (wpt) list first. - Follow it with a single Route (rte) container linking ALL points (Primary + Midpoints) in chronological order. ### TARGET XML SCHEMA (Strict GPX 1.1) Instruct the AI to generate a clean XML code layout using standard GPX 1.1 formatting rules, following these parameter blocks: - Root Element: Start a standard GPX container tagged with version 1.1, stating the creator as MasterNavBackup, and applying the baseline Topografix GPX namespace link. - Metadata Sub-block: Insert a metadata section declaring the custom Route Name. - Waypoint Sub-blocks: Generate individual waypoint tags for every entry. Inject the Decimal Latitude and Decimal Longitude directly into the waypoint parameters. Inside each waypoint, include sub-tags for the specific WP number as the name, alongside a separate comment tag formatted exactly as: "Comp C: [Value] | Dist: [Value]nm". - Route Sub-block: Construct a trailing route section named "[Route Name] (AI Verified)". Populate it chronologically with ordered route-point tags tracking every sequential waypoint coordinate, each mirroring its specific WP number label. - Close Container: Terminate the GPX structure. ### DATA SOURCE [PASTE YOUR COPIED CSV DATA HERE] The prompt above is free to use, but make sure to check your data, and also please remember navigation is always done at your own risk. 0:00 - Introduction: High-Tech Meets Old-School 1:20 - Why you should not blindly trust your chart plotter 2:28 - Plotting the AI Master Navigation Table Manually 7:08 - True bearing trap on your autopilot 13:58 - The Reverse Verification Prompt: Paper Back to Digital Final Route Verification Watch Part 1 - Get the Master Navigation Table Template for free https://youtu.be/K5rFj7-CuIQ If you found this video helpful, please Like, Subscribe, and hit the notification bell for more AI-powered maritime tutorials! Sailing around the world in a Bavaria 55 Cruiser, mostly solo, making videos whenever I have time for it. Comfortable at sea with 4 decades of sailing experience and hundreds of thousands of miles behind me. Even though this is season 8 on YouTube, I did not make that many videos in the beginning, and obviously not from my entire sailing life. Before full-time sailing 7 years ago, I sailed several seasons in the Mediterranean, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing and racing ever since. I also have more than 10 years of experience as a captain in search and rescue at sea in Norway.

In Cartagena, we’ve been witnessing several processions. Amazing events taking place every day during the 12 days before Easter. Religious sculptures are carried through the city in processions. Each sculpture is carried on the shoulders of about 160 people for three hours through the streets of the city. Participants in the procession are dressed in long cassocks and hoods as to not show who they are and by participating they have washed offshore their sins. Thanks to David (son of Miguel), who has taken part already 13 times we were fortunate enough to attend the preparations for the procession of the patron saint of Cartagena. Since this is obviously a very unique event a lot of people want to take part in it. To make it fair a special program has been developed to organize the participation and the order standing. We are sailing on our catamaran Kanoa, a Lagoon 380 around the world. We like to explore new places, we like to speak with people, who share their culture by showing us national tradition and tell a story. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boat and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders a 4 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea.

Season 2, Episode 12 In this final episode, our sailors head on an adventure to Saint John, U.S. Virgin Islands! They saw the ruins of different Sugar mills and some military outposts that kept slaves in order. It was a place where there was a great demand for labour. You will see exteriors plastered with fresh cow dung, clay or a mixture of sand-lime and water. After their visit, they went to the food bus, where they shopped for each other like Sara chose a Pulashell bracelet. Ruben and Sara played games, and the crew members played the Jenga game. They also went to an event where Sara had fried chicken and honey mustard. She was very happy and excited to eat it as it was her first piece of fried chicken in the last few months.
