If this video doesn't melt your heart and make you smile...On our hike on Middle Ground Trail (a 2.2 mile circle starting at the dinghy dock), we encountered a herd of wild goats grazing on the ridge. They are always there, hence the reason the name of the hike is dubbed Goat Trek. But, this day was a little different as we ran into a baby goat with no mother and she was as friendly and affectionate as one could ever imagine...so much so, she stole our hearts. Aside from the goat highlight, the trek was spectacular in myriad ways - historical forts from the 18th Century, trails surrounded by bleeding hearts, hummingbirds in every blooming shrub, cacti with flowers, and 360 degree views of the harbours and bay. We understand why this hike is really popular with boaters. We loved it so much we did it twice, mostly because all of us wanted to play with the baby goat again; we named the goat, "puppy" because it acted so much like one. And, magically, puppy was up on the ridge where we left her the last time. It was a second session of mutual love smothering! It was harder to say goodbye the second time around... We go ashore in Tobermory to bag the island, sample the fantastic produce from the local area at the weekly marina market and visit some waterfalls. It is a sleepy town with small cafes, bars and friendly people. We attempt to leave our mooring buoy when we discover a broken control cable and manage to fix it whilst on a mooring. Interesting times but we are ready to sail again. Let the adventures continue. Our last week in the BVI was wonderful! The 4 of us snorkeled daily checking out the beauty below. We made our way from Cane Garden to The Spit (Jost Van Dyke) then on to White Bay, Saba Rock, Anegada and back to Savanna Bay. Our last stop was at Beef Island to take Tyler’s parents to the airport. Sam Sills (GBR) and Sharon Kantor (ISR) have progressed directly to the Final and both have already secured a podium place at this first key event of the iQFoil season. Ain't nothing better for the Kelp Kultists than a perfect viz SCUBA dive at good ol' Monterey Breakwater. The subtidal playing field just offshore of San Carlos Beach at the end of Cannery Row is the perhaps THE most-dove site in all of California—countless dive careers have been launched through the Coastguard Jetty's kelp forests and magical reefs. And though some may poopoo the Breakwater for its ease of access, when conditions are good, it has some of the best diving in all of Monterey Bay, from the menagerie of nudibranchs, diversity of fish assemblages, charismatic megafauna in seals, sea lions and sea otters—and of course, the kelp kathedrals themselves. Today was just such a day, and with glorious gelatinous goober beings to boot! Jellyfish fans, drift this way! Back aboard the Gypsy after wrapping up work in Port Protection, we dropped anchor beside a beach locals told us about… a hidden stretch of shoreline filled with colorful stones, polished agates, driftwood, mist, and wild Alaska energy. What started as a failed fishing mission turned into one of our favorite explorations yet. We spent hours wandering the beach in the rain, filling buckets with rocks that looked painted by hand, listening to strange owl calls in the forest, and watching orcas cruise past the boat. 38 yachts and 111 sailors in the Hallberg-Rassy Rally 2026 – Where Everyone Is a Winner. The 2026 edition of the traditional Hallberg-Rassy Rally was again a successful and fun event with good sailing conditions. The event had 111 participating Hallberg-Rassy sailors in 38 yachts from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, the UK and the USA. Boats ranged from build year 1978 to 2026. All sailors enjoyed a real good time together. The delicious dinners were cooked by a star chef, David Lundqvist. As the tradition says with this popular Rally, there was no time keeping and only winners. Every boat won some kind of category. Prizes were generous, including for example a SUP paddle­board from Pantaenius, a Mastervolt inverter, an automatic life vest, a sprayhood, tools, clothes, bags and a lot more. Zoetje, our first Schipperke dog was very fastidious dog. It took us a long time to train him to use his Astroturf carpets on the back deck. He rather go ashore ... or sometimes ... If he thought we would soon go ashore, he would cross his legs for sometimes more than a day! Zenne, our second Schipperke, a female, on the other hand, will use her carpet before any trip ashore!
