From southwesterly winds gusting up to 20 knots, and one of the sharpest sea states the class has endured, dropping to five to six knots and the lightest conditions sailable by the nimble RC44: the 44Cup Marstrand’s penultimate day provided a complete test for the teams off west Sweden’s holiday hotspot. The fleet ventured out of the security of Marstrand harbour to be greeted by a stiff southwesterly breeze and a vicious sea state that was short and sharp. The fetch had built up overnight and according to tactician Adrian Stead was especially confused, and at times mountainous, having combined from different directions - coming around the top of Denmark and up its east coast.

Out of the tourist track with no other boats around, remote villages, endemic and rare species of fish, unexplored dive sites and the unique opportunity to swim and dive with these majestic creatures. On this last cruise we had perfect conditions allowing us to do many exploration dives and we were all amazed with the new discoveries! Cenderawasih Bay is amazing! In this video, you can see a Whale Shark trapped in the fishing net which was quickly released by the fisherman. The Whale Sharks are protected in the area and fishing platforms are aiming the little fish (anchovies). The Whale Sharks learned to come and feed on the platforms and sometimes they get trapped but quickly released. The fishermen like having those giants around as they bring them good luck.

Come along as our good friends, The Grady's join us aboard Excelsior and we return to Double Island. The kids enjoy some wakeboarding and we take a hike up to the spectacular lighthouse. The boys catch enough squid and blue swimmer crabs to feed both our families and the Sarah's cook up a feast for the hungry crew. Our magic few days break is capped off with champagne sundowners and a magnificent sunset. Our personal favourite episode to date.
