Lots to do and to think about as the new year fast approaches. In February, I will leave my mooring at Yumenoshima Marina and set off to Okinawa. Between February and my departure for the solo crossing of the Pacific in June, I will not have permanent harbor. For the Okinawa trip, I want to be 80% ready for the Pacific Solo crossing. The plan is to gain valuable experience as I cruise blue waters from Tokyo southwest to Japan's tropical islands. It's all got me thinking about four S's -- sails, solar, safety, and sponsors. All of these things need my attention before I can safely depart. Any my first nights sleep on my Dormeo Matress Topper was in fact one of the best sleeps I have had in a long time. Thanks Dormeo! After missing two years due to COVID lockdowns the annual South Rock Race was held for the first time since 2019. The 8 boats split across IRC 1 and IRC 2 were greeted by blue sky and a solid 15 to 20 knot Northerly. With wind against tide at the bar mouth and a solid sea running on the back of the building breeze it was not clear if the race would go ahead. The Portaferry Sailing Club race committee did a great job getting the race underway, allowing the competitors to make the final call on the state of the bar when they made it to the top of the narrows. Seven of the Eight boats decided to cross the bar and were greeted by great conditions in the Irish Sea. "Going to Red" had their first hit out under IRC with their recently purchased J109, the new set of sails from Doyle helped drive them onto victory in IRC 1. With the said news during the week that Raymond Beattie had passed way while visiting the Isle of Mann on Tiger Lilly the crew on GTR flew Code flag under numeral pennant 1 in his memory. Hopefully Raymond was watching the racing for a happy place.

#boatdog #mainedog #beagle #envigobeagles #beaglerescue I thought one dog on a sailboat would be too much. But then my wife surprised us by rescuing a second beagle. Now we have two dogs on a sailboat! And it has been great. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. Follow us on Noforeignland https://www.noforeignland.com/boat/fridaafwisby?sid=6095395836919808&tc=1674678682264 Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders in 2017. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. During season 2 We sailded south to Dieppe Normandy France. After a winter in France in Season 3 we started to sail the Atlantic coast of Europe to Xufre in Spain where we lifted the boat over the summer while we where back in Gotland to work at our hostel we got there. Season 4 got a short sailing season where we only sailed to Lagos on the Algarve coast of Portugal where we hauled out once again this time to go throug a long list of boatwork and to build a solar arch to make the boat more self-suficient with electricity. After 6 months in Lagos we kicked-off season 5 with real bluewater sailing first to the northerly Atlantic island Porto Santo and Madeira and then further out to the Azores that lays in the middle of the Atlantic ocean before turning back towards the mainland and south coast of Portugal again.

So Neptune finally looked dwo on us this season, giving us the perfect wind to test out our sails at last in sunshine made for summer!!! In the last video we ran all the way down to the bottom of the lake and literally over lunch, the wind veers to give us perfect running conditions all the way home. We get about 4-6KTS of wind with gentle gusts to send us sailing with all our sails poled out at an average of 3Knots. have we finally got this Drascombe Lugger to move in light wind? The Spinnaker definitely makes a difference and, although still not perfect, it pulls us gently but firmly along. It'smuch better than the jib running, poled out like this. The Mizzen also makes a small but noticable difference. So late in the season to have this kind of weather. I had to pinch myself!! Enjoy! 00:00 Anchoring like a Rpoyal Marine!! 01:14 Lunch 03:43 Paddling out of shallow water!!! 05:05 FInally sailing again 07:02 Spinnaker up and reaching 08:48 Broad Reaching with the spinnaker 12:30 One big sail! 14:10 Running and poling out! 16:54 3.1KTS! 19:31 Have we cracked it? 20:38 Memories of the Mirror! 22:29 Drone footage 25:31 Testing the Mizzen power 26:27 Progress! 28:25 Beam raching with the Spinnaker 31:27 What a day! 🌐 My new website: https://sailingwithdave.com ❤️ Comments are open, ask anything you want in the comments section! 📢 If you enjoyed this video, then please don't forget to share and let people know about the channel 🔔 Click here to "Subscribe" and never miss a video: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZVuUVKKtVxulmgL3WzejjQ?sub_confirmation=1

This Azimut 50, Edenroc, is an elegant Italian-designed flybridge motor yacht offering generous space below and on deck. She is small enough for a couple to handle, yet large enough to accommodate a big family. She has ample entertainment areas, such as the wide bathing platform, the big sun bed at the bow, and the cockpit aft that Is protected by the long overhang of the fly bridge. The fly bridge itself will be the favourite hotspot on the boat and features, of course, the helm station, sun beds, ample seating, a bimini, and a wetbar with grill and sink. Edenroc is well equipped with twin Caterpillar diesel engines of 705hp each, a bow- and stern thruster, generator, Raymarine navigation package including radar, hydraulic passerelle, etc. This Azimut 50 has a three-cabin layout with a downstairs galley and is throughout fitted out with a CruisAir reversible air-conditioning system. The main saloon features ample seating to port and starboard side and a stylish helm that has a twin bench behind a comprehensive dash. Only three steps lower than the saloon is the galley to port with dark Corian work top. The well-appointed master cabin with ensuite bathroom with electric toilet and separate shower is in the bow, and the roomy VIP cabin is located to starboard. There is a third guest cabin with full length bunk beds to port side. The VIP cabin and the guest cabin share the second bathroom with electric toilet and separate shower.
Boat life may be good for the soul… but not for the waistline. Back on land, walking every day in one of my favorite valleys in Japan, I’m reminded of when I used to cycle 70 km before breakfast. Now
When it comes to lightning at sea, the risks are real — and the damage can be devastating. But there’s a revolutionary system that prevents lightning from even forming. It’s called Euthalia. Unlike traditional lightning rods that actually attract strikes, Euthalia neutralizes the electromagnetic field above the yacht, stopping the phenomenon at its source. Its secret? A smart combination of an antenna, a high-impedance filter, and piezoelectric materials — like quartz — working together to dissipate energy safely back into the atmosphere. It even protects against indirect lightning strikes, preventing electric current from traveling through seawater and reaching onboard systems. This isn’t magic — it’s pure science. @baccidelbuono @euthalia_antimpatto . #Euthalia #LightningProtection #MarineTechnology #YachtSafety #InnovationAtSea #NauticalScience #SmartBoating #MarineInnovation #SafeAtSea #YachtLife #BoatingTech #FutureOfYachting #StormProtection #BoatingInnovation #MarineEngineering
