We are an Aussie couple with a dream to sail and scuba dive around the world. We bought our Beneteau Oceanis 430 in October 2023 with zero sailing experience but the belief that we can do this. We have filmed our journey from looking for boats, buying the boat, downsizing so we can liveaboard and all the messy wonderful life stuff in between. Join us now as we continue our ten day journey to sail our boat home from Townsville to Brisbane Queensland Australia. After a first day of sailing that lasted over 24hrs due to instrument failure we were stranded in Airlie Beach waiting for a marine electrician to look at the boat. With a new instrument panel installed we continue our sail back to Brisbane Queensland Australia. Day four saw us sailing from Airlie Beach to Shaw Island. Then with a major weather system on the way up the coast we were forced to continue south with a 48hr sailing passage from Shaw Island to Bundaberg. On the way we experience epic sunrises and sunsets on the ocean, spot our first dolphins and continue our sailing education. We tackle navigating our sailboat through shipping channels in the middle of the night and experience our first day on our sail boat powered by sails only for a full day. In this episode we have trouble when trying to anchor in 40 knot winds in the Burnett River in Bundaberg. As new sailors we want to share all our learnings and keep it real in our videos. Our sailing learning curve is steep so come along with us as we learn and grow as liveaboard sailors.

In 2018 until we decided to focus on our project sailing TELLUS (Latin word meaning “Earth”). We had the chance to visit and live in many beautiful countries with our previous jobs, that made us realize how fast the world is changing and how fast the life is going and there is no “later” than “now” for the project we have in mind. In early 2019 we took a one-week sailing courses that opened our eyes of new ways of travelling and changed our life style. In June 2020, we decided to sell everything we own, house, car and lot of stuff that we do not need anymore so that we can buy a sailboat and go for an undetermined voyage around the globe. We bought a catamaran Lagoon 450s delivered in France in July 2021. We have been sailing from La Rochelle to Gibraltar, then exploring the Mediteraneean in 2022 Spain, France, Italy, Greece. In November 2022 we arrived in Canaries Island then sailed to Cape Verde. On 19 December 2022 we set sail to cross the Atlantic Ocean from Cape Verde to Martinique in the Caribbean. After 13 days and 4 hours. We have reached Martinique and currently sailing in the Caribbean islands. We have sailed over 10000 NM so far with our catamaran Tellus. We decided to create this Sailing-Tellus website with the aim to build a community around sailing videos content creator. We still did some boat work but for our wedding we we're gifted a 2 night "mini moon" stay at the beautiful Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes, CA. Who doesn't like a little free "stay-cation?" Well, not free. The giant suite was amazing! The food, the views, everything was absolutely top notch. But, things got real expensive when every meal was over $100 and every round of drinks was over $35. It may not sound like a lot to some but right now we're boat rich and money poor. Instead of lounging around Sunday or even extending our stay for the long holiday weekend, we dipped out early and went back to work on white shark..... Still just cleaning! We've been looking over every inch and taking notes of what we think needs attention. We did find some termite action but it's over the galley and we plan on replacing the entire section because it all seems rotten. We're treating the entire boat topographically and hitting every hole with 2 different termite treatments. It seems like the holes are limited to the galley ceiling though. Eigentlich wollten wir zu Arzums und Cingenes Geburtstag in Bozburun sein. Ja, die beiden haben wirklich am gleichen Tag Geburtstag. Aber erst kamen Termine dazwischen, dann kräftiger Wind genau auf die Nase. Um die verlorene Zeit aufzuholen, starteten wir mit zwei langen Etappen um die 50 Seemeilen - entweder bei Flaute oder den Wind gegenan. Durch einen Zufall konnten wir dann doch noch spontan Geburtstag in Bozburun feiern - wenn auch nicht Arzums. Über den Golf von Fethiye waren wir erst nach Bozukkale gesegelt, dann nach Bozburun, Selimiye, Orhaniye und einige Buchten. Zum Zeitvertreib kreierten wir "Billionaire Bingo" mit Megayachten. Eine Art Quartett in Real Time, denn diese Luxusdinger düsen an der türkischen Küste reihenweise herum. Meist mit Flagge von den Cayman Islands. Merkwürdig. Selbst auf dem Rückweg machte uns der Wind einen Strich durch die Rechnung. Statt eines schönen Westwindes herrschte Flaute oder aber Sturm. Doch das war nicht das Schlimmste. Mitten auf dem Meer zwischen der Türkei und Griechenland entdeckten wir ein gekentertes Flüchtlingsboot. Menschenleer. Nur noch ein Schwimmflügel und ein T-Shirt klebten am Wrack. Nachdem wir die Küstenwache verständigt hatten, setzten wir die Reise fort. Mit einem mulmigen Gefühl im Bauch.
