Usually, electrical auto pilots consume considerable power from your battery banks but this method is extremely conservative in power requirements. My DIY (Do It Yourself) sailboat restoration is in full swing. In this video, I though briefly on cost. Both the purchase price and what it costs to keep Athena up on the hard here in Denmark. This video is two days early (i usually purplish on Sundays). I took a couple of half days this week because the office was completely empty. The video is from one of those days. NB! There is an ever evolving calendar of events and something different almost every weekend! There are wild west show downs, themed balls, silly parades and museums galore. You can walk the town and enjoy the shops and saloons or dig in your heels and try every adventure. I love costumes and you have to love a town where you can dress in 19th century attire and blend in. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. It’s the news that every fan of the Luna Rosa Prada Pirelli Team wanted to hear and today out in a mistral-infused Cagliari, the Italians were back in action going through a series of test tows with their LEQ12. In total four runs were conducted varying between 30 seconds and three minutes with speeds ranging from 19 to 32 knots – all without the damaged mast that is still in the shed undergoing checks and repairs after the incident on the 7th November that saw the rig fall from its hoist ending up on the dockside with some noticeable damage both to the masthead and the stern gantry on the LEQ12 itself. With a couple of weeks of enforced no sailing time, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli have spent the time constructively as Carabelli offered: “We used this opportunity to do some changes and some adjustments to all the electronics and mechatronics that are a big part of these parts. In the towing we can learn a lot from all these works that have been done and it was very useful to put everything together and be sure that we don’t lose any time in the future when we go back sailing.” Section 41. Reconnaissance a) As a campaign cost reduction measure, COR/D has mutually agreed to cooperatively implement a centralised reconnaissance programme for all teams for the reconnaissance of all Competitors’ AC75 Yachts, AC40 Yachts and LEQ12 yachts including both on-land and on-water imagery (the “Joint Recon Programme”). b) Each team is assigned a two-person Recon Unit to follow their every on-water move, but it's not that simple. The cameras are supplied and identical for all Recon Units. Drones are not allowed, and they can't get that close, plus following a boat and keeping a camera steady at 45 knots isn't that easy to begin with. c) A three minute interview follows each on water day, and teams must answer the Recon Unit's questions while trying not to give too much away. On lève l’ancre pour une navigation difficile de plus de 24h de Cabo de la Vela au parc protégé Tayrona en Colombie. Comme toujours, les vents se lèvent durant la nuit et on arrive dans le parc protégé complètement vidé d’énergie. Les jours suivants ont été un cauchemar; un voleur est venu sur Atypic et sur le voilier de Jay pour voler nos défenses de bateau, un homme a aussi tenté de voler le dinghy à Jay en plein jour, on a donc dû quitter Santa Marta avant qu’ils réussissent à voler un de nos dinghy, mais ça ne s’est pas terminé comme prévu. The Appalachian mountains are home to some of the most beautiful and iconic wild spaces in America. While they may not have the massive vistas and open spaces of the Rockies or the Sierras, much of the Appalachian mountains receive so much rainfall that they are considered temperate rainforest making these mountains some of the lushest and greenest places in north America. One of the biggest reasons that I would consider moving my family here is so that we can live out in nature. I want my growing family to directly experience where our food comes from. In this episode the Parlay Revival crew take on their longest and most dangerous passage to date, the infamous crossing from Aruba to Colombia. Here the winds and seas meet in an unpredictable manner, putting many sailors to the test. It is somewhat of a luck of the draw situation, slightly minimised by selecting the right time of year to do it, which we had going for us. This passage is rated in the top 5 worst sails you can do when circumnavigating along the milk run. Watch as we hit patches of absolutely zero wind, then get hit by squall after squall trying to get the last part of the passage done down to Cartagena, Colombia. SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged 2012 Lagoon 450 Catamaran bought in Tortola, BVI at the beginning of 2018.
