Ever look at marine cabin flooring and be turned off because of the price? We have too. What's so great about it that demands such a premium? We've spoken to real cruisers who have used other products and get a similar result for MUCH less. We decided to go with a very economical solution from Home Depot, called Trafficmaster Allure in Teak color. It's fully waterproof, has texture, and has enough flex that it'll conform to a slight curvature. That's all you need for cabin flooring. I wouldn't use it outside the cabin, but inside it should be perfectly fine. We ended up spending about a tenth of the cost of using a "marine" product. Sailing Uma used a similar flooring and it's been in their boat for three years with no issues. The Nordhavn 40 design is the smallest passage maker built by PAE. A sistership completed a 26-week circumnavigation in 2001. The Nordhavn 40 platform is solid, stable, and capable - engineered to safely take you across the ocean or along the coast in an economical package that has no equal in this size and price range. Sea Trek is a first generation (US built) Nordhavn 40 – hull 32 out of 44 produced in southern California by legendary cruising sailboat builder, Pacific Seacraft. When this California builder faltered at hull 44, PAE/Nordhavn shipped the tooling to the Nordhavn yard in China to continue production starting with hull 45 and differentiated the two versions in this series as Mark I US made, and Mark II China built. The saloon is spacious because it is pushed out on both sides, no wasted space filled with rarely used walking side decks. Sea Trek was ordered with the optional fly bridge, which provides an excellent outdoor area above the pilothouse for taking command underway or relaxing when at rest. Following in the footsteps of the older and larger siblings that preceded her, the Nordhavn 40 established a production hallmark that set the standard for all Nordhavn models to follow. Starting with highly polished tooling, she has a solid fiberglass hull layup with integrated swim platform. The deck layout took advantage of many preferred features including a recessed anchor well on the bow, built-in deck boxes on the foredeck and a Portuguese bridge. Outside and up some steps, takes you to the boat deck and flybridge. The dinghy is mounted aft (athwartships) and the mast supported boom is used to launch and retrieve the tender. Nearly (70) Nordhavn 40s have been produced, approximately 44 in the US and 30 in China. The rising costs of materials and labor has pushed the new boat price for a well outfitted Nordhavn 40 into an uncomfortable territory. In this episode I will open a Gazelle Innergy li-ion battery pack. This is a more recent battery and has higher capacity cells in it. The average capacity of the cells salvaged from this battery was about 2250 mah tested on the Opus. And that's times 50!!! Ebike battery packs from more recent bikes have higher capacity cells, so the newer the pack, the higher the possibly tested capacity. Often these battery packs go faulty due to BMS failure. This results in battery packs with 50 good cells.

I think we’re all drawn to the ocean but some of us more than others.  My fascination with the ocean lies in its mysteries.  There is a big world under there and it piques my curiosity like nothing else.  Ok, the ocean and space are probably equal on my curiosity scale.  But, the ocean is something I can explore with nothing more than a pair of goggles.  Space not so much. Due to its remote location, limited law enforcement presence, and proximity to drug trafficking routes, this area has seen reports of boardings and opportunistic theft on anchored and sailing vessels. While not widespread or highly organized, these incidents have led many cruisers like us to take extra precautions or avoid the area altogether when planning their routes through Central America. The route from Panama to the Bay islands of Honduras goes right through this area and it's not really possible to avoid the area altogether. The best thing we can do is try to stay offshore far enough where its way more difficult for the these pirates to get all the way out to us in their smaller vessels.. So here we go... 700 miles on the big blue trying to avoid any trouble. We take the trimaran out for a few spins to see what she can do, and even though the wind is finicky and light, we still fly! Course rarely will you find us only “just” having fun. The Selene 62 is the flagship of the Selene Ocean Trawler family. Its luxurious layout consists of a superb three staterooms with crew quarters aft, all with ensuite heads. The owners enjoy a full width master stateroom complete with writing desk, vanity and full height wardrobes. The pilothouse provides very good visibility, and a functional galley can be up or down with a dinette for six.
