Finnaly the circle is closed! Here is my third and last video covering my Fair Isle trip. I have got everything I came for. Ive seen Fair Isle, gotten a new drone on Shetland after the bird attack. I even got to shoot the MUckle Flugga lighthouse, the most northerly point of Shetland and even Great Brittain! Now Im reday to go home. But first... Ive always wanted to see the Out Skerries. Its the most easterly point of Shetland, and what a place! With only 30 people left living on these rocky islands, it makes it even more magical. After a couple of hours, Im again ready to cross the huge North Sea to get home to my homeport, Haugesund, Norway. A flat and calm sea made it a very long trip by motor- all the 183 NM's. She was the first Broward to be ABS certified and remains fully in class today. As soon as you walk onboard you are immediately struck with her spaciousness, which is much more than you would expect from a vessel of this size. Her galley down configuration allows for an impressive Master suite forward on the main deck that features a King size bed, his and her en-suite bathrooms, vaulted ceiling, large lounge area, dressing table and walk-in cedar closet. The Starboard guest entrance opens into a nice sized lobby which leads either forward to the master suite, up to the bridge deck and sky lounge or aft to the dining salon. To starboard just before the glass door to the open main salon is a wine station containing wine racks, Kedco wine refrigerator and lighted glass display cabinet. A day head is also located in this area. Walking aft into the full beam salon there is a dining table with seating for eight guests. The dining table also has an automated leaf which easily converts the table into a smaller more intimate table at the touch of a button. Built-in cabinetry finished in lacquered wood provides plenty of storage for china and linens as well as doubling as a buffet station for meal times. The main salon has soft comfortable seating recently re-upholstered in soothing cream hues and a large curved TV in the corner for movie nights. Through the aft deck doors is a spacious deck area with seating, dining and a fully equipped wet bar. The working deck area is tucked behind this deck above the swim platform and lazarette. Back inside a curved staircase from the main salon takes you down to the lower deck where three guest suites are found off a central lobby. The forward starboard cabin has 2 twin beds and en-suite bathroom with Jacuzzi Tub, the port side guest stateroom has a queen bed, hanging lockers, TV and en suite bathroom with Jacuzzi as well as a small sitting area. Aft is the VIP stateroom which offers a King size bed, large en suite bathroom with dressing table double sinks and Jacuzzi tub. On the bridge deck behind the wheelhouse and Captain's office/bunk room is the sky lounge. Sure to be the hub for guests gathering for pre-dinner drinks. This area has a full wet bar with barstools, flat screen TV and comfortable lounge area. Heading aft to the boat deck which is designed to be the center of activity with plentiful sunning spaces as well as an optional awning for those seeking some shade. Continuing upwards is the Sun deck with more seating beneath the yachts communication arch. Broken seacock, EVA foam, joker valve and wet T-shirt, lock. The lever on one of our seacocks broke with the ball joint in the half open position allowing only a partial flow of water needed for the air conditioner. Steve rerouted the intake hoses to a nearby seacock and yea! Problem solved. The A/C just seems a bit colder. He put a tee on a seacock that feeds an electric toilet. One side went to the A/C unit. The other side goes to the toilet with a check valve in line with the hose. We are very disappointed with the 6 month old EVA fake teak foam we put on the cockpit settee seats. It was pulling apart and discoloring. Had to pull it out and will repaint the seats. Put a new joker valve in one of the electric toilets which seemed to help evacuation. The aft companionway hatch had a gate latch on the inside to prevent opening from the outside. We constructed and installed a block of wood for the shaft of the latch to slide into. We do a little jumping around in this episode, giving features to three of our biggest bulkheads. Ever look at marine cabin flooring and be turned off because of the price? We have too. What's so great about it that demands such a premium? We've spoken to real cruisers who have used other products and get a similar result for MUCH less. We decided to go with a very economical solution from Home Depot, called Trafficmaster Allure in Teak color. It's fully waterproof, has texture, and has enough flex that it'll conform to a slight curvature. That's all you need for cabin flooring. I wouldn't use it outside the cabin, but inside it should be perfectly fine. We ended up spending about a tenth of the cost of using a "marine" product. Sailing Uma used a similar flooring and it's been in their boat for three years with no issues.
