This particular sloop, designed by Eldredge-McInnis and built in 1978 by J Phillips Ham in Connecticut, boasts a fascinating backstory. Once owned by former Senator Chris Dodd, who enjoyed sailing her with his friend Ted Kennedy, she later found herself in Boothbay Harbor, ME, serving as a tourist day-tripper. And in a weird Six Degrees of Canadian Ken, we discovered that he is related to one of the previous owners... Now, after 15 years in the care of her current owner, she's seeking a new home. While she's been resting in the barn for the past 5 years, everything, including the 25hp Westerbeke engine, was in perfect working order the last time she sailed. La Sundeck è una barca di 9 metri di lunghezza per 3 mt di larghezza ed è motorizzata con due motori da 250 cavalli l’uno: potenza e sportività allo stato puro. Guidare la Sundeck 8.8 è veramente un’emozione a cui non puoi dire di no! E’ una barca ottimale per trascorrere una meravigliosa giornata in mare con amici e famiglia: può portare fino a 11 persone. Sull’ampio prendisole davanti, essendo tutto piatto e su tutta la larghezza della barca, c’è posto per gran parte dei tuoi ospiti mentre le sedute a scomparsa e il tavolino dietro al sedile di guida, permettono di rilassarsi durante la vostra uscita in barca. Some days are worse than others, right? This day was one of those. Our sail from Hilo, Big Island to Honolulu, Oahu in Hawaii was quite eventful but not in a good way. Water in the engine, broken cleats and hatches, vents that are falling off, water in the bilge and then the big bang... We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. Bonita goes on a solo mission DEEP into the Jungle to live with the remote traditional Mentawai Tribe https://www.sailingnandji.com/ In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we decide we want to challenge our selves as our sailing plans have changed. So Bonita leaves Nandji on a solo mission into the jungle to live with the remote Mentawai Tribe who live and follow their traditional ways. She leaves Yosh all alone on Nandji who in the next episode performs his first ever offshore overnight solo sail. Bonita heads deep into the jungle on Siberut island to watch and learn how the traditional tribe live. She stays with the Shaman Cookie, who invites her into his home and shows Bonita some of the daily tasks of living in the Jungle. Cookie teaches the ways of collecting and eating insects, how to make poison arrows to kill animals and goes fishing in the stream with a local lady. This is an experience of a life time as she is the first girl to travel solo to the remote tribe and live amongst them. What a brave lady! With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra where we are living the island life and chasing the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we are returning to Thailand in the coming months and then taking the northern route of the Indian Ocean to the Andaman islands and onto Sri Lanka before heading south to Chagos and across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trades begin again! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since explored some amazing countries, met some beautiful people and experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! I'm going to go ahead and just take you through some of the great new features of the Hobie Lynx. The nature of this whole design provides a really unique experience for anyone who's been on it. I love that feeling of skimming across the top of the water and then maneuvering around in extremely tight spaces. The MirageDrive 180 with Kick-Up Fins is the way to get the Lynx around. It just has unsurpassed performance, patented technology that only Hobie can make. The Kick-Up Fins just allow me to get into those really shallow areas, especially with this flat bottom design, without worrying about damaging my Drive. The hull for the Lynx is ultra lightweight, so it accelerates quickly and turns on a dime. The sleek lines look really great and is extremely stable. The Lynx is really the perfect mix of deluxe features and a sleek minimal hull design. It's ultra light for transport, fast on the water and easy to maneuver. The seating system on the Lynx is extremely comfortable. It's something that I have personally been on the water for hours upon hours and haven't felt any discomfort. I just love being in this seat all day long. The mesh features on it, allow it to be cool on warm days and dries quickly when it's wet. The seat back will also double as a beach chair when you remove it from the hull. The rotor system on the Lynx is buttery smooth, it has dual steering features we can put on either side of the seat and it has a large rotor blade to provide tons of authority. This authority gives you just unmatched maneuverability. And then for rudder operation up and down, it has a single pole up down line. Also, for easy transport the rotor system is removed without any tools so you can easily take it on and off the boat. What makes the Lynx so light is its unique construction method. Using ACE-TEC technology, the Lynx is comprised of a EPS foam core with fiberglass and epoxy shell, and then on top of that, we have an ASA plastic skin. This gives us the ultimate in lightweight technology. If you're buying the Lynx to fish, we have a ton of Hobie accessories to allow you to do that. The ability to transport the Lynx is a really important feature, and we have a couple of things that kind of address that. One is the rear loading skid pads, which allow you to lean up the hull and easily load it on the rooftop of your car. We also have two scuppers for plug-in carts, and then the nature of the hull itself is stackable, so if you have more than one, they easily stack one on top. The side carry handles located on each side allow for easy suitcase carrying, or for overhead loading. So going through the features of the Lynx from bow to stern, we have a large forward cargo area with Bungee tie downs. We have an accessory to mount, which allows you to add a Bimini or a Sail Kit. Located on each side we have two molded in inserts that allow for easy standup bar installation. Located behind that, we have a molded in track system for a lot of accessory upgrades. And located behind the drive, we have mounted an EVA pad for comfortable standing. Coming standard with the Lynx is also a cup holder, and this will be mounted, again, to the seat. The Lynx comes standard with the fish finder ready plate. Behind the seat we have a large cargo area with tie-down Bungees. We have two molded in scuppers for cart installation or a Livewell. Located on each side there's an insert which allows for H-Rail installation. H-Rail utilizes our patented railing technology to adapt a variety of accessories. The Lynx comes Power-Pole ready, so we have four molded in inserts for easy installation, and a center line scupper, that is covered by this cap, that can be removed so that the pole inserts through the hole on the center line of the hull.

As we looked to fill the bungs and finish the settee locker, also salvaged from Victoria, we used not just the material, but the thin layer of finish, to make good matches to the already-varnished outside surfaces of the piece. Steve's friend Tim Cote has started a boat club at the middle school where he teaches. He walks us through the Chesapeake Light Craft plans that the students are working from, and offers a few thoughts about what mathematics they're able to use as they build this Eastport Pram. And finally, the Dickinson Newport heater gets its heat shielding, which is made of tile and cement board. In this episode we evaluate the pros and cons of the Iridium GO communications system and Starlink with the DataHub from Predict Wind onboard our Leopard 45 sailing catamaran. We've been using Iridium GO for all of our offshore passage weather and communications as well as tracking information on our website for the past three years. This summer we purchased Starlink. We received the hardware in the summer and began using it immediately. It was amazing having wifi on our entire passage from Hampton, VA to the British Virgin Islands. Twelve days at sea and more than 500 miles offshore, we were downloading updated grib weather files every few hours, Jeff was streaming Yellowstone, and I was chatting with our kids and grandchildren, when I wasn't seasick. But that's another story. Then PredictWind came out with DataHub. This smart device gathers GPS tracking, data, and communications from the boat and transmits that data via Starlink. Finally with boarders being easier to cross we move into a fresh new coastline and country that has been just out of reach for the past six months, Sitting in St Vincent peering at these unattainable island sanctuaries has been the source of our frustration for so long but finally in this episode we are allowed to enter our long awaited dream. The nine mile sail goes quite quick with having 17 to 20 knots of true wind coming from behind us and we make short work of putting our anchor down and checking in. After a couple of days with the constant seasonal squalls we eventually get out of the boat and explore the island haven of "Sandy Island" just off Carriacou. We had a long day waking at 3am to time the currents correctly in the C&D Canal. We transited the canal quickly with a favorable tide and began our decent down the Delaware bay. As the bay widened and the ind increased we began getting bombarded by waves abeam.
