Understanding what they all do is important because it allows you to know wht rope does what and how to rig the boat effectively and safely. From the production of AC40 foiling monohulls, to hydrogen fuel cell powered foiling chase boats and a constant stream of foiling Moths and Waszps, McConaghy's facility in China is now rammed with carbon large custom cruising cats. If you've been following along you know we dropped our keel and NOW we can finally start the repairs on our Beneteau 49. Well, after we demolish it a little more! We cut all of the tabs off the grid with minimal drama (only inflicted a little more damage than necessary). Progress is slow, but among all the trials we do have some good news along the way - like not having a massive leak in our boat! The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought is sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive and we need to lift it onto the dry ASAP to fix what is needed and start our refit. Off the coast of Lombok we lose our engine, how do we get out of this one? https://www.sailingnandji.com This week on Sailing Nandji, heading back to sea after a lovely quick stop off at the Komodo Islands, we continue sailing into the sunset heading West towards the island of Lombok. Cruising past the island of Sumbawa, we have engine issues and discussing the great places on the island, decide to make a detour and explore for a few waves. Having a quick surf at Scar reef, we return to the sea crossing the Alas Strait between Sumbawa and Lombok. We have 100nm to travel to reach the destination where we plan to collect our new crew member. Off the coast of Lombok, things take a turn for the worse losing our engine. How do we get out of this one! We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We have been in Indonesia for a couple of months cruising and are now high tailing to Malaysia for boat work. We departed Australia 18 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, met some amazing people and experienced cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! Hello earthlings. La Vagabonde is now in Cape Verde! We have had some crazy sails/adventures lately, and the new episode is nearly done with processing and should be up by tomorrow. My Windows laptop pretty much blew up... after months of Riley teasing me about how much of a brick it was. So I've been making the transition over to Apple and watching ridiculous amounts of Tutorials. But I finally pulled together a movie.
