(Constructions Nautiques du Sud-Ouest). Isabella is a sailing ketch and is considered a 1990/2010 model. It has four private cabins, an engine room, salon, galley, and three heads with two separate shower stalls. The hull is fiberglass and is considered a bluewater cruiser. Isabella has an excellent capsize ratio of 1.68 and a very good comfort ratio of 42.19. She is equipped with Garmin / Raymarine electronics and has hydraulic steering. The naval architect was Michel Bigoin who also designed the largest sailboat in the world which was manufactured in 1976 and called Phocea. It was a 246 foot four masted steel schooner and was considered the largest private sailing yacht in the world until 2004. We had a bad lightning storm last night in Panama. Thankfully we are safe and sound. We did drag anchor but we caught again. We are just glad we didn't get hit by lightning on the mast!

After the best part of a year away from this channel, I finally got back on the water. This time it wasn't aboard our old sailing boat, but exploring the coastline in my inflatable kayak, searching for hidden coves, caves and places you simply can't reach on foot. The Netherlands' Annemiek Bekkering and Annette Duetz win the 2019 49erFX World Championship in Auckland after their closest rivals, Brazil's Olympic champions Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze, capsized spectacularly at the leeward mark during this Medal Race. The Dutch pair guided their boat safely around the course to take gold in what was described as a prize fight between Olympic champions and reigning world champions. Denmark's Ida Nielsen and Marie Olsen claim bronze. Bekkering and Duetz went on to win 49erFX bronze together at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Bekkering has since retired, but Duetz kept going - five years later she won Olympic GOLD in the women's skiff at Paris 2024, this time with a new partner, Odile van Aanholt. Peter Burling and Blair Tuke (New Zealand) win their fifth 49er World Championship title on home water in Auckland - but not without drama. A broken tiller extension forced the Olympic champions out of the morning race, and they came into this Medal Race defending a lead over Germany's Erik Heil and Thomas Ploessel, who had clawed their way back into contention after a costly slump earlier in the week. Burling and Tuke finished fourth in the Medal Race itself, just enough to hold on for gold. Heil and Ploessel take silver, with Great Britain's Dylan Fletcher and Stuart Bithell claiming bronze. Burling and Tuke went on to win 49er silver at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and now race together for New Zealand SailGP. Heil is also now on SailGP's Germany team. British Virgin Islands or Bahamas: which is better for a catamaran charter? Catamaran Gurus sat down with Blake from Location Sailing, and go head to head across more than 30 categories. The short version: the Bahamas wins for families, honeymoons, wildlife, snorkeling, seclusion, and a longer season, while the BVI wins for first-time charterers, couples, nightlife, and dining. The Bahamas is generally cheaper (the British Virgin Islands add a charter tax), but the BVI is the easier trip for beginners.
