In February 2020 we moved aboard our new floating home having purchased her only 6 months before sight unseen and proceeded to live in a trawler harbour for 2 years. We spent the next 2 years upgrading vital systems and electrics, treating rust and trying to learn as much as we could about sailing and sailboats whilst working full time. Josh worked at a sugar mill as an Electrician and instrumentation technician and Phoebe worked an online business and as a Librarian’s Assistant. In March of 2023 we set sail from our home port of Ballina, NSW, to embark on our first season of cruising up the East Coast of Queensland having only sailed Innerbloom a handful of times. It sounded insane…and it was! We were taking a chance on a dream having little to no control over its outcome. But we’re now at the tail end of our first season of sailing with no plans of stopping any time soon! In the ever-so-close Class Zero — the battle of the TP52s — Kevin Whitcraft's Team Vayu beat Ray Roberts' Team Hollywood cementing victory on the final day of racing with Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana crewing on board. The racing in this class was exceptionally close with Vayu beating Team Hollywood by seconds in many of the races, including one race, earlier in the week, which saw fifteen tacks off the beat. His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua climbed on board and steered Vayu to the start line, a terrific moment for Thai sailing as this regatta was first held in 1987 as part of the national celebrations marking the auspicious 60th birthday of His Majesty's father, King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Queen Suthida also graciously presided over the regatta's royal awards ceremony held at the Beyond Kata Resort later in the day.

Lobster Boat milestone report -- mold complete! This is a critical juncture when we find out if we did everything right with prepping the plug, waxing it thoroughly and laying down the critical inner layer of the mold (which is the finished surface that ultimately shapes the hull). We're thrilled to report that the mold released cleanly from the plug, and has the glossy, flawless finish we needed. So we can proceed onward to building the hull for the prototype! We're exactly on schedule, pulled the mold on the day before Thanksgiving, and the first hull is in layup right now. It took a couple hours of waiting around under the hot sun, but when Mother Nature decided to cooperate, she did so in full force and anyone who was lucky enough to be in the area was able to see the majesty of the Phuket King's Cup under full sail. Famed lensman Guy Nowell was able to capture the beauty of the scene and his fabulous images are on the regatta's website. There are so many highly skilled sailors competing in this regatta, including Olympic participants and champions as well as many veterans of the famed Rolex Sydney-Hobart race. There are also a couple World Match Racing stars, including Adam Minoprio sailing on Team Hollywood (he also sailed in the America's Cup) as well as Mati Sepp, helming Gern Kard.

When Luke Marsh joined GJW Direct to head up their Marketing Department he had no experience in sailing. In fact he had a phobia of water. Step by step he overcame his fear, and first gained his RYA Powerboat Level 2 qualification, then learned to paddleboard, and in the summer of 2024 took a sailing course, gaining his RYA Dinghy Level 1 and 2 Qualifications.
