We hauled SV Avalon out of the water for a week in the boatyard, where she will undergo routine inspection and maintenance, including bottom-scrub/anti-fouling... sort of like going to the dentist or something. We'll be back in the water in a week or so, and then do serious planning and provisioning for our passage north to Fiji.

Searching for Distant Shores III. I visit Poland and tour the Delphia plant. Then a testsail aboard the Delphia 46DS. It is a true pilothouse with raised saloon. So you can see out from the table, and while standing in the galley. You can also steer, seeing forward from the helm. The Delphia 46 is very strongly built, and has the most storage space I have seen on a cruising boat this size. Well organized galley drawers, cabinets, closets throughout. A great live aboard boat.

We broke the boom! First major setback but probably not the last. In this episode we spend a couple of days in Camariñas in Galicia, Spain and then we sail towards Lisbon, Portugal but don't get very far. We broach with the boat outside Cape Finisterre and get an accidental jib on the Hoyt boom and sadly it brakes. Therefore we end up in Baiona and are stuck here for repairs. As we upload this we've been in Baiona for a week and are waiting for the new rigging parts to arrive and to install them. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved in to our sailboat RAN, a one-off aluminium built Beason 40, and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started sailing south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds takes us.
