We've been talking about it for a while, but now we are excited to announce that we have finally made a concrete decision (well, as concrete as you can be on a non-ferrocement sailboat) and we're off to Indonesia! The plan is to start with a circumnavigation of Sumatra, leaving Malaysia in April. So we have about six weeks to do all the prep: get Esper ready, get ourselves ready and, most importantly, get Millie ready! But first of all, we have to start our journey south... In this episode, we say goodbye to beautiful Koh Chang Noi and have a few days of gentle sailing to the tip of Phuket, then on at the crack of dawn towards Koh Lanta. We also answer one of the most frequent questions we are asked by prospective cruisers and friends alike: do we ever get seasick? Pamacea is no longer for sale by JMYS. Pamacea will surprise you. She is attractively designed and has enjoyed great care. The Moonen ship yard in the Netherlands is well known for quality construction and their motor yachts have a well-deserved reputation for performance, reliability and resale value. Pamacea is one of three Moonen 65’s built, making her a coveted rarity. She has a robust steel hull with an aluminum superstructure, all painted with Awlgrip. Her current (second) owners purchased her in Europe in 2002 after an exhaustive worldwide search looking for an ocean crossing capable motor yacht. Pamacea transited the Atlantic on her own bottom to return to the United States from Europe in 2002 and has traveled thousands of trouble free miles. On the transatlantic crossing, their cruising speed was 8.6 knots, they covered 2,850 nautical miles and consumed 2,000 gallons of fuel. Now residing in Coronado, CA, she is ready for her new owners to take her away and explore the world by sea. Twin engine Volvo TAMD 71A diesels push her along at a comfortable cruise speed of 8.5 knots and Pamacea has a non-stop range of 3,500 nautical miles. Her Atlas Ultra converter allows her to plug into shore power anywhere. A comprehensive hydraulic package (including windlass and thrusters) two Onan generators and air conditioning are only a few of her many impressive features. Her decks are well above the water line making her a very dry boat underway. The raised cockpit (aft deck) connects to the saloon-galley-pilothouse all on the same, main level with making for a very social atmosphere with excellent visibility of your surroundings. The saloon has a large couch, very comfortable and there is a TV lift. The galley has generous counters and all the requisite appliances for preparing meals. The pilothouse command station has a helm chair and all the instruments to pilot the yacht are in close proximity. The forward stairs at the pilothouse lead down to the three staterooms and heads. The fabulous master stateroom forward has a queen-sized island berth and spacious head and shower. There is a hallway aft that connects to two guest cabins each with ensuite head. The starboard aft end of the saloon has a stairway that leads to a day head, work shop and the engine room. The work shop is ingenious, with built in tool chests, spare parts, electric tools – it is a convenient getaway that will keep a craftsman/hobbyist very satisfied. The engine room boasts full standing head room and very easy access to service and inspect all machinery. To reach the upper level there is a convenient access aloft from the main level pilothouse. Here the flybridge and boat deck merge with a Bimini top, bountiful seating and impressive views. Pamacea has two walking side decks that connect the foredeck with the cockpit. All decks are teak and the foredeck windlass station has easy access to the chain locker. Pamacea has US duty paid. This week we attempted to make vegan meatballs. May have worked if we had cooked the meatballs in the oven, instead of on the stove. Maybe we will try it sometime. This meat sauce was VERY good though, and a lot easier than making meatballs. I cup dry lentils (cooked) 1 can black beans 1/2 cup corn 1/2 cup bread crumbs 1 Tbsp red wine vinegar 2 Tbsp Tofu 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper Spaghetti Noodles VEGAN spaghetti sauce Side vegetable

The title says it all. I sailed my 10ft Duo with friends on a CL16 (a Wayfarer clone) and an Oday 17 daysailer. About 12 knots of wind was perfect sailing. I was surprised they were not that much faster than me You can build your own Duo from plans using just 2 sheets of 4mm (3/16in) ply. It motors, sails and rows. A nesting version is also available. This video demonstrates how you can use an old fender to easily run your outboard engine in fresh water. 🔔 SUBSCRIBE ➜ http://bit.ly/SBYouTube⛵ There are lots of reasons you might want to run your outboard out of the water and if you want to make it last a very long time [like our ancient old thing!] then flushing it through with fresh water does it a lot of good. This dissolves deposited salts within the water-cooling passageways inside the engine and flushes out other debris that you don't want to collect in there. Of course the water keeps the engine cool while you are running it inside the fender too, as well as providing a water supply to the impellor, preventing damage caused by dry running... This simple trick is a really easy way to do this. It has the following advantages: 1. You can use an old, punctured fender, which is free! 2. The fender can be rolled up for storage, always handy on a boat. 3. You make the lines the right size so that they can hook on top of your outboard in no time. THIS BOAT IS NOW FOR SALE!
