This is our first time sailing since purchasing Maya. The trip distance was 70 miles and we took 3 days due to running into a wind storm. We spent two nights in Port Townsend, which is a great town! Enjoy the video

We finally are leaving Vero Beach and setting sail down the coast of Florida. We have sold and packed up our belongings to move aboard our new-to-us Lagoon 410 sailing catamaran. We have completed an inland shakedown cruise down the inter-coastal waterway and are now ready to do a coastal cruise shakedown down to Miami. My sister, Heather, flies in to join us as part of the crew. We leave her, the kids and pets behind for a few days and encounter some foul weather and rough seas while underway. We get to freshen up our navigation and sailing skills and learn how this vessel handles under sail. After a week sailing down the coast we get the kids and my sister back on board to sail down to Key Biscayne. We make it into No Name Harbor just in time for dinner after a nice sail down. We spend several days playing around and getting provisions waiting out weather. We start getting ready to make our first offshore sail over to the Bahamas. We are so grateful to be living our dream and look forward to sharing our journey with you. Thanks so much for joining us on our adventure!!

In this episode my guest host Andy Lamont talks with Stuart Morton about his cruising adventures on his Panama stopover. After leaving England 11 years ago on his 39 foot yacht Matador, Chris and his wife Steph have cruised the Mediterranean, Lebanon, the Black Sea, Turkey, Cyprus, Syria, Gibraltar, USA, Cuba, Bahamas and the Caribbean. Then while sitting in his cockpit anchored in Shelter Bay in Panama a storm came through punching out 30-40 knot squalls. A loud crack followed by a puff of black smoke cloud off top of mast and the smell of frying semi-conductors and circuits downstairs led to Stuarts initial fear that his yacht was on fire. Stuart accounts what happened next after realising Matador had been struck by lightning. This episode is packed with the highs and lows of cruising internationally and the many challenges faced along the way. It focuses on our ability to leverage dual technologies in our solutions to address commercial/private and military/missionised operations. It showcases the new generation of fully connected cockpit avionics for civil and military applications. It also presents new solutions as a natural complement to avionics systems on new or existing aircraft, such as the TopMax and TopEagle head-worn displays and new digital and flight optimisation solutions connected to avionics.
As a global technology leader in aerospace, cybersecurity and satellite communications, Thales is best positioned to address both current and future needs for more connectivity in the aerospace sector and the associated absolute requirements for cybersecurity.
Olivier Ageorges, Marketing Manager Operations ISR, shares more about the concept of the connected mission aircraft.
Guillaume Lapeyronnie, Marketing Director Flight Avionics Activities, shares more about Thales' solutions surrounding the connected aircraft.
Today’s operations require maximum tactical agility and joint coordination between Force and Civilian components, however delivering this capability in Training solutions remains a challenge as the need for realistic behaviors and the complexity of the order of battle increase.
Incredible to see the bubble shells reproducing! Never seen before!!! Also pretty crazy to see a Tiger Moray out during the day! Lots of amazing frog fish and turtles. I just love diving in Kauai!!!

Music by Clueless Kit (https://soundcloud.com/cluelesskit) Really appreciate the support, check out the Patreon for more access and perks: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon If Patreon isn't your thing, I also have a Paypal.me link: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel to world. I make travel vlogs about my Vanlife, sharing vanlife ideas, vanlife tips, and travel diaries. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly? A: I live in a van, which certainly cuts costs down but still I need to make some money in order to afford to continue, currently I make 90% of my income through working as a photographer/videographer. I regularly work for Airbnb as a real estate photographer and I also take on bigger commercial contracts whenever I get the chance. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, Nikon D810, Sony RX100 iii, DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, Underwater Housing, tripods and lights. - What is your van? 1992 Dodge B350 Travelhome with the 5.9L TBI gas engine. I spent $3500 buying it and so far another $9000 in repairs upgrades and maintenance. - What're your plans? Travel forever. The Arctic this summer, Asia next winter, Sailboat the world after. I want to see this whole world, and I'm playing it all by ear. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live in a van with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. If I have to leave him inside the van I cover the front seats so he can't climb up and stare out the window and bark. I cover all the windows with reflectix panels I made for insulation, I turn my fantastic sucking air out on max (replaces all the air in the van every 90 seconds). I crack one window in a shaddy lower part of the van to create a consistent airflow. Other than that the fiberglass roof and insulation do a fantastic job of keeping the heat out. In colder climates I set the furnace on at minimum and close down all the windows same as for heat minus venting. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go seperate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharring my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time.

Installing a long range wifi antenna and router, a new wind sense on top of the mast and an AIS system. Bonita has been studying and completed the long distance marine radio certificate. After many comments on a previous video, I remove the cap shroud connectors and get new mast connectors fabricated and installed. Filmed on the Atlantic island of Tenerife. In this episode, The Titanic's Captain, Nude statues, i go up a volcano called Mount Teide, get lost on the moon and get an infected knee, drive up a mountain though a spooky forest, my sister flies in and sees a big cactus, do illegal anchoring and James climbs my mast. Thank you for watching this episode of Adventures of an old Seadog, I hope you enjoyed it. A great deal of work and love goes into every video in the series. Please give us a thumbs up. On Facebook our page is ‘Adventures of an old Seadog’ and there you can find ‘realtime’ up-dates and news that you are welcome to share with your friends. All of the ‘Seadog’ videos are available to watch on the ‘Barry Perrins’ channel on Youtube. For notifications on new releases please subscribe. Thanks so much for your support, The adventure continues. Safe sailing. Twitter https://twitter.com/barryperrins Facebook https://www.facebook.com/adventuresofanoldseadog/ Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Sailing Diana sailing Finnish archipelago In this episode we continued our voyage from Örö to Aspö. Day was rough sailing as we had headwinds all the way, wind speed around 8-10m/s. It is still May so we found Aspö to be nice and quiet. With us there was one motor boat and one traditional wooden boat.

How is it going! Today, we're sailing the KM Tier 8 Premium Battleship, Tirpitz! Enjoy!
BIGGER is not always better! When it comes to mooring buoys I have always assumed that the bigger it is the safer it is. After our sail from Kos to Emporious on the beautiful island of Kalymnos, we discover this is definitely not the case! Emporious is a beautiful part of the island, but out of season we find it extremely quiet. Moving on to the small island of Levitha once again mooring buoys cause issues. These overcome we sample the wonderful delights of the local Taverna, and are welcomed into the family’s home to avoid the cold and wind. Fish is our choice off the menu, and what a beautiful fish it is too, (Barracuda). This Island was chosen last year to accommodate a wind farm, but the family who run the Taverna and supply the mooring buoys, assure us this is not the case, as the Military have blocked the planning request due to the islands strategic position!
