'Why aren't you going to paint your hull?' 'If you're going to leave it bare, you should at least shine it up'. 'You're in for a ton of corrosion if you leave your hull bare'. These are just a sample of the questions and comments we've been getting through our last few videos, so we thought it was time to publicly address the issue. Our hull is staying bare aluminum, and we *want* it that way. Keep reading as to our reasons why, and to answer all the questions you may have about why there is no longer paint on the side of our boat. In this episode we also dig our mainsail out of storage to see how it fits on the boat, and Matt goes over our plans for how we're going to lay out our deck hardware. With all the changes we've made to Elements, the previous set-up is no longer going to work for us. Cheers from the WATER!! Thank you SO MUCH to our Patrons. This is a Flip Pack on a Toyota Tacoma 4x4. After doing the RV thing a couple different ways, this year we are going minimalist and hoping to get off the pavement a bit more.
Brent and Ana are a couple sailing around the world on their catamaran IMPI. Sailing into Australia has proved this country to be one of the friendliest countries we have visited, and in this video we hope to capture that friendliness, some technical work around the boat which we always do when arriving in progressive countries and some footage around our passage to New Caledonia for a 3rd visit with Impi. We also share some events around Ana's passion for animal welfare in New Caledonia and how the Down Under Rally Group (Australians) are contributing to the cause. Arriving in New Caledonia, we join Guy Kane the flying vet who is flying folks from the Down Under Rally Group - all contributions going to animal welfare. We have been busy little sea gypsies in Australia and as a result have not had time to post videos to You Tube as often - we are making up for this in a lengthy video here - we suggest you break it down into 3 parts and view at your leisure. Happy virtual sailing with us our love Brent and Ana

SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners. Northern Ranger I is hull number 61 of 80 built; benefiting from the experiences learned on the boats preceding her and built during the crest of production when the yard craftsmen were at their peak. She is well travelled, primarily cruised along the North American west coast between Alaska and Mexico. And, more importantly, equally well cared for. Nordhavn 46’s are coveted as an ideal platform for owner/operators. Everything about the rugged equipment, comfortable features, simple systems and impressive details incorporated into the design makes her one of the most popular trawlers ever conceived and her popularity continues to increase in demand long after production was retired. As one set of 46 owners enjoys the experience and moves on to other adventures a great opportunity opens up for the next buyer to take the torch and continue cruising. There is typically a good assortment of Nordhavn 46’s available on the market worldwide. This inventory changes (often quickly) as astute buyers appreciate the subtle differences and quickly grab the best boats for themselves, particularly in preferred locations. The Nordhavn 46 is one of the most dependable trawlers available, if you have done your homework you will know that her condition and equipment make Northern Ranger I a great value. Northern Ranger I is Canadian flagged and located in Mexico. Her interior configuration has the master stateroom forward. She is air conditioned and has a 9kW Northern Lights generator. Other key features include paravane stabilizers, Lewmar bow thruster, Spectra water maker, Yanmar wing engine, Bullfrog tender, Tecma heads, Hurricane hydronic heating, KVH Mini‐VSAT 3 Sat Phone and more. Northern Ranger I will enable you and your family to embark on local or long-distance cruising ‐ allowing you to see the world by sea in a safe and seaworthy manner that only a true full displacement trawler can provide. Rustler Yachts launched its first R42 in 1999, the Rustler 42 has evolved over the last 20 years and remains our most popular fin-keeled offshore cruiser. Designed for comfortable long-distance bluewater cruising, the Rustler 42 has enabled many owners to achieve their dream of going off long-term cruising. Her keel is fully encapsulated, her cockpit deep and safe, her hull offers excellent seakeeping. From the day she was launched, we knew she was a special sailboat. 20 years on, she has become an iconic Rustler, just like the Rustler 36 and the Rustler 31 before her. Rustler Yachts. The Rustler 44 was, until the launch of the Rustler 57 in 2019, the flagship of the Rustler range. She also offers many features not usually associated with a Rustler: a raised saloon, a large full-beam double aft cabin, and a forward galley – although we can locate the galley where you please, there is no standard yacht, every boat is as individual as her owner. The range of yachts from Rustler Yacht is unique. Were have true round-the-world cruising yachts, offshore sailing boats, and pretty day and weekend yachts. all are hand-built in Cornwall, all can be tailored to your needs. Since this video was produced we have added our flagship, the Rustler 57, to our range. 00:06 Ruster 33 01:55 Ruster 37 05:00 Rustler 42 08:25 Ruster 44 Rustler Yachts. At Ruster Yachts we love our oak interiors, high-quality joinery and varnished woodwork that are synonymous with the Rustler brand. If, however, a customer comes along and wants a different layout or design for their offshore cruising yacht, we can do whatever is needed. This Rustler 42 was one of two that we have built for the Sea Cadets. Her interior layout and the materials we used are not what you would normally see, so we thought a video was in order. A: I live in a van, which certainly cuts costs down but still I need to make some money in order to afford to continue, currently I make 90% of my income through working as a photographer/videographer. I regularly work for Airbnb as a real estate photographer and I also take on bigger commercial contracts whenever I get the chance. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, Nikon D810, Sony RX100 iii, DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, Underwater Housing, tripods and lights. - What is your van? 1992 Dodge B350 Travelhome with the 5.9L TBI gas engine. I spent $3500 buying it and so far another $9000 in repairs upgrades and maintenance. - What're your plans? Travel forever. The Arctic this summer, Asia next winter, Sailboat the world after. I want to see this whole world, and I'm playing it all by ear. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live in a van with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. If I have to leave him inside the van I cover the front seats so he can't climb up and stare out the window and bark. I cover all the windows with reflectix panels I made for insulation, I turn my fantastic sucking air out on max (replaces all the air in the van every 90 seconds). I crack one window in a shaddy lower part of the van to create a consistent airflow. Other than that the fiberglass roof and insulation do a fantastic job of keeping the heat out. In colder climates I set the furnace on at minimum and close down all the windows same as for heat minus venting. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go seperate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharring my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time.

Click here... http://www.patreon.com/Nandji In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we depart on our shakedown sail from Mooloolaba to the Goldcoast and take our patreon winner along for the ride. We had starter motor issues before departing and were able to solve the problem and sail away. We sailed into the afternoon and as the winds were dropping out, decided to anchor for the night at Yellow patch on Moreton Island. We rose early the next morning to continue on the journey only to realise that the start engine issues had now become motor issues. We attemted to leave the island sailing but with light winds were unable to sail past the headland. We . dropped our Patreon Ben off on the island where he was able to catch a ferry back to the mainland. We spend several days stranded on the island with beautiful glassy days and no wind. When the wind becomes faverouble, the current is unfavourable so we wait it out for the perfect combination. We finally set sail again, making it out past the headland and down the coast to the Goldcoast. We arrange for Volunteer Marine Rescue to come out and tow us to the boatworks. A boatyard with service providers who can assess the situation. Thanks for watching Sailing Nandji, if you liked our video please subscribe to our channel, we really appreciate all the support. Sailing to the Cape Verde islands in the Atlantic. In this episode i, tour an old sailing ship, leave La Gomera in the Canaries, sail down the african coast in the Atlantic, make contact with a suspicious ship, worry about a pirate attack, flood my cockpit, have a painful knee, sail though big rolling seas. Thank you for watching this episode of Adventures of an old Seadog, I hope you enjoyed it. A great deal of work and love goes into every video in the series. Please give us a thumbs up. On Facebook our page is ‘Adventures of an old Seadog’ and there you can find ‘realtime’ up-dates and news that you are welcome to share with your friends. All of the ‘Seadog’ videos are available to watch on the ‘Barry Perrins’ channel on Youtube. For notifications on new releases please subscribe. Thanks so much for your support, The adventure continues. Safe sailing. Twitter https://twitter.com/barryperrins Facebook https://www.facebook.com/adventuresofanoldseadog/ Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. We spent the morning free diving near the lighthouse, and BAM! a jelly fish had attacked me. In broad daylight. However, the jelly was probably nothing but graceful as it wrapped around my wrist. Just minding it’s own business as we spent the morning frolicking in the depths of it’s backyard. ‘Attack’ or not, it hurt. A lot. That’ll teach me to wear a short suit. Join us, Daniel and our two patrons Will and Marissa as we explore this beautiful east coastline of Mallorca. We love it here! and La Vagabonde! and you lovely lot! Cheers, Elay. FREE ENERGY – 1000 Mile Hydro Generator SAILING Trial - On Luckyfish we are well on the path to supplying all our energy needs, on anchor or under sail, using renewable energy. With the installation of a hydrogenerator, we can now meet all our energy demands when passage making. At just 5 knots of boat speed the hydro gen produces the same amount of power as a good quality wind generator in 18 knots of apparent wind. Something we rarely see as we spend much of our time reaching or running. We estimate the unit produces about 0.2 knots of drag, or costs us about 5 nautical miles a day if we keep it immersed full time. In this video we look at our unique installation solution and the performance of the unit over a 1,000 mile sea-trial. We hope you enjoy, comment and question. And, do like, SHARE and subscribe if you want more! You can support our creations by becoming a PATRON, link below. You guys are AWESOME ! SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners. Lady Di is a no-nonsense, simple and elegant Kadey-Krogen 39. She is hull number one, a 1998 model year making her the first in the series followed by fifty sister ships before rising costs forced this popular design to cease production. Economical, efficient and practical, the KK39 is particularly appealing for first time trawler owners or a couple contemplating a 50’ or smaller sailboat, but who are unwilling to give up the comforts of home that fit into this well-defined package. This is a boat that has been designed to be the best possible platform for two people and there are no compromises in build quality, she is the equal in fit and finish of her larger siblings crafted in Taiwan by Asia Harbor Yacht Builders. #JMYS, #KadeyKrogen39, #TalkThroughTour, #Trawlers Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jeffmerrillyachtsales/?fref=nf Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/merrillyachts Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jmystrawlers/ Music: "Inspiring Corporate" by ECO-Sound Video Production: http://www.uvisualize.com
