A soft gluten-free bread that makes super toast (especially with butter and a good marmalade) or with scrambled eggs. It does take a higher setting on the toaster than wheat-based breads, The really nice thing about this bread is that you do NOT have to knead it - just mix the dough and drop it in the tin and wait for it to rise. You will not build up muscles making this one :) I usually slice it as soon as it is cool and then store it in the freezer. Sailing solo to Azores. A fog bank settles in while still crossing cargo ships. Do I need a radar or is AIS enough?

Winds drop causing the boom to swing back and forth (with a crash). I drop the mainsail, and make excellent progress on the genny only. (This also works great in very high winds when running downwind.) I did not launch the spinnaker due to very wet foredeck.

I discuss why I (almost) always put in a reef at sundown, and then will surprise you by saying I have no way to update weather at sea (and outline how you can get this weather for longer passages).

I reach the 'no turning back' point, and reflect on my efforts to manage risk. It's a marathon, not a sprint. I can go faster, but elect not to.

The wind continues to back on me until nearly head-on at 20+ kts with high seas. I search for a solution to make headway (with some embarrassing results). Sail, engine, or both? I learn a novel way to furl the genoa if the furler breaks.

The situation: moderate southerly winds are forecast the following day, perfect for sailing northwest up to Baltimore. Trouble is, where I am anchored means having to tack out of a narrow channel--perhaps too narrow. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? The truth is you're never really living alone when living aboard. At Marina Lanzarote, there's plenty of people to make friends with. And the marina staff is really cool. And you rarely solo sail naked. But if you're going to do it, it's best to do it when sailing solo. The advantages of being alone, is that you can get a lot of projects done, which is the case in this episode. We set sail from New Zealand to head back up to Tonga for another South Pacific cruising season. The passage was a bit of a tricky one with strong winds, then light winds and then shifting strong winds. We managed to take it all in stride until the last night. While reefing, a screw that backed itself out of mast track got caught on a track car. And unfortunately, the electric winch will win that battle every time! Nesta oportunidade saímos do Saco da Capela (Ilhabela) com um casal (e a filha) e fomos até a praia do Julião embarcar os amigos, e na seqüência atravessamos o canal para praia de Baraqueçaba, e no fim do dia ainda retornamos para o Saco da Capela para que eles pudessem curtir o Festival do Camarão na (charmosa) Vila, e tomar um delicioso sorvete...
