This was my second dive trip to Komodo, but under the expert guidance of the Seven Seas crew, everything felt totally new. In all my years of traveling and exploring Indonesia, one huge lesson I’ve learned is that the experience you have really comes down to the expertise of your hosts and guides, and with the Seven Seas being one of the first charter boats to offer cruises here, their decades of collective experience among the captain and crew really shows in the end experience for the guests. Museo Atlántico, off the south coast of Lanzarote consists of 12 installations and more than 300 life-size human figures, created by British sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor. The collection is designed to provoke environmental awareness and social change, with each piece creating an artificial reef. Some of the new installations are Immortal : A Mold of a local fisherman from the north coast of Lanzarote, the sculpture is made up of a series of concrete sticks and it is representing a traditional funeral pyre. Rubicon : A group of 35 figures walking towards a boundary between two realities. The wall is intended to be a monument to absurdity, a dysfunctional barrier in the middle of a vast fluid, three-dimensional space to remind us that we cannot segregate our oceans, air, climate or wildlife. Deregulated : A children’s playground enjoyed by suited businessmen. A swing, a sea-saw. Demonstrating the arrogance of the corporate world towards the natural world. Human Gyre : Over 200 life-size figurative works creating a vast circular formation or gyre. A complex reef formation for marine species to inhabit and is a poignant statement for visitors reminding us that we have evolved from marine life.

We've set up 'base camp' here on Isla Bastimentos and we're ready to knock out some BIG adventures...and one on the agenda is learning Spanish. You can get a free 30 day trial of Audible here: http://audible.com/wynns (big thanks to audible, we're proud to work with you guys). s/v Curiosity gets tied up to the fanciest dock we've ever seen, the jungle is full of wildlife and one of the best beaches in Panama is just a short walk away from our hulls. Our first order of business is cleaning the boat...because the tropical mold here seems to grow overnight. Once we're tidy we're heading out to what is supposed to be one of the best SCUBA dives in the Bocas del Toro archipelago. Toss in some beach time, fish tacos & beer and we couldn't ask for more. Based on our first few days here, I think we're going to stick around for a while. Get all the Details of this trip, including links and maps here: http://gonewiththewynns.com/diving-coral-sailing-bocas Thanks to all those who support us by shopping our store, watching our vids and leaving comments...and a huge thanks to our Patreons for the continued support of our productions (& for those wondering we didn't charge our Patreon's for this one because it was sponsored by Audible). The Grill mats referenced in this video can be found at http://amzn.to/2xOR0Hz This is how we go about planning and cooking a weeks worth of food on board some times to make it easier to make things throughout the week. We will have Chicken and noodles, Chicken tacos and at some point we may even have Chicken and rice as well. Join us on our journey as we continue to rebuild, refit and prepare our Formosa 51 Sailboat for our continued cruising journey. We have always loved the Formosa, bought one (on a bit of a whim) late in 2014, moved aboard this one right away and started to do our refit while living board. We are avid fans of Cruising Outpost and Good Ole Boat (Good Old Boat) magazines and love the ideas we get from them. What do you do when you are miles from home and help and need to climb the mast on your boat? And what if you are alone? In this vid I show you two methods I have used for climbing the mast alone.
After putting my little sis through a wet four day jungle hike, I owed her some quality beach relaxing time. We went on a fun tubing adventure down Rio Guajira and then it was time for us to head to Germany. After four months of the boat, I found Karl in not too bad of a shape upon my return, but see yourself... Ahoy, Nike & Karl
It was the end of November as we set sail from England bound for the Caribbean on Distant Shores I. We have 2 friends aboard as crew as we set off from Las Palmas for the 3000 mile crossing to the Caribbean. We celebrate New Years at sea, lots of fast sailing, and then surprisingly have to deal with unusual light winds as we approach Antigua. Check out Pantaenius Insurance here http://www.pantaenius.co.uk While we're having our new boat built we're putting up episodes of our shows from earlier seasons of Distant Shores.
This is the start of a new series, my greatest adventure yet. Sink or Swim is an account of the trials, successes and failures of building a 47 foot Wharram Oro Catamaran Really appreciate the support, check out the Patreon for more access and perks: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon If Patreon isn't your thing, I also have a Paypal.me link: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel to world. I make travel vlogs sharing my ups and downs, adventures on motorbikes, sailboats, and vans. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly? A: I travel really cheap, free camping, cooking my own meals, being as efficient as possible. I make my income almost entirely on YouTube but it's really tight. Ad revenue, patreon, paypal donations, merchandise sales and affiliate links bring in about as much as a part time minimum wage job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough I go back to work, doing photography mostly, sometimes commercial video projects, but it takes me away from my travels and videos. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, Nikon D810, Sony RX100 iii, DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, Underwater Housing, tripods and lights. - What is your bike? 1999 Yamaha Vstar XVS1100 with a Champion Escort sidecar. - What're your plans? Buy a boat, fix it up, sail off into the sunset. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live on the road with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make some decisions, avoiding places that ban dogs, and spending more time out in nature instead of in the cities. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go separate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? The top perk on my Patreon page is a live link of my location on google maps so you can get an active idea of where I am currently. If that's not an option for you there's also Instagram and Instagram stories that give you a much better idea of what I'm up to today.
