The 18ft Skiffs were back on Sydney Harbour today when the Australian 18 Footers League conducted Race 1 of the 7-race Spring Championship to open the 2017-2018 Season. Conditions were steady from the North East for the 14-boat fleet and the race provided a drama-free dayu for many of the new teams.

On our way to the Bahamas we were able to stop in Utah to visit family! After all our BAD LUCK trying to leave Oregon, it felt good to have a little bit of a rest, before continuing on. While in Nevada the dipstick tube on the truck broke making it impossible to check the transmission fluid! We found a local shop to replace it and also flush the transmission while they were at it. We also requested that they adjust the steering because the steering has been very sloppy, making it difficult to drive in traffic while towing the boat. We got the truck back only to find that the transmission LEAKED leaving a HUGE mess in the driveway! They also did NOT fix the steering AT ALL, but still charged us for the work! We were not happy and took the truck back to the shop to get fixed AGAIN! (the steering never did get fixed) We were afraid of getting snowed in while we were in Utah, but we also wanted to have time to spend with family before leaving for the East Coast. The Roberts 650 Trawler Yacht is a full displacement, heavily ballasted and stabilized trawler designed and built for long-range cruising. With over 4600 gallons of fuel capacity, you can easily plan over 4500 miles of cruising at 7+ knots. This yacht features three staterooms, all with ensuite heads. The owner's stateroom is full beam. The expansive wheel house has a full suite of electronics including infrared camera and bow/stern thruster controls. The wheel house has a day head and abundant seating. She is powered by two very efficient John Deere 200hp diesel engines. Two Northern Lights generators (20kw and 8kw) provide ship's power while underway and at anchor. The current owner has effectively commissioned the boat and brought her to outstanding condition. When it isn't enough I go back to work, doing photography mostly, sometimes commercial video projects, but it takes me away from my travels and videos. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? The top perk on my Patreon page is a live link of my location on google maps so you can get an active idea of where I am currently. Two guys with nothing to do on our vacation during the summer of 2017, decides with no advanced planning to cross the Baltic Sea. Grenada - last stop before Trinidad, where we will hull Aquarius for hurricane season. It was fun couple of days as we visited underwater statue park, although we were not able to find anyone to team up for Grenada - Trinidad passage as there were some cases of piracy in resent past, we still feel that this stop was a success as we visit St. George's and most beautiful Grand Anse Beach. We thought it sounded like paradise. After a few weeks of exploring the islands of Bocas del Toro we felt a road a good road trip was well overdue. We loaded up our two cats (Cleo and Singa), and we all hopped on a panga (the water taxi boats) for the mainland. We originally filmed all our Boquete experiences in a day-by-day way, but after a few of the epic adventures we decided to begin with this video. Consider this an intro to Boquete. It was a quick trip from Cuttyhunk, through a cut called "Quicks Hole" (with a crazy current), across Vineyard Sound into a little fishing town called Menemsha. We had extremely calm seas and a nice sunny day once the fog lifted. Menemsha (on the Northwest side of Martha's Vineyard) had a few fish markets with amazing and fresh seafood to eat there or bring home and cook yourself. There was a small grocery market as well to replenish our depleted provisions.
