Croatian tourism wouldn't be what it is today without the traditions found in Dalmatia. We meet Mate, a retired captain from the seaside village of Krilo Jesenice. Modern shipbuilding began to boom in Croatia, and particularly Krilo, in 1992, with the repurposing of small wooden ships that were originally manufactured to transport cargo and sand, into simple passenger-carrying vessels. Since then this innovative industry has boomed over the past decade and today Krilo is a busy shipyard that produces impressive ships, whilst holding onto its roots and traditions! E59 Weekly Vlog of Life in a Nutshell travels. The last part of the motorbike tour across Australia. As we pass through the great deserts, along dusty, seldom used tracks, we see loads of wrecks along the side of the road. We pop into a few iconic pubs for a beer or two and experience the last few nights of tranquility in the Australian bush. The riders have a go at Magnus’ races and eventually the tour ends up in Fremantle, Western Australia, at the Indian Ocean, after a 17 day trip across this vast land. Numerous folks asking me about how we ditched our rubber impeller and ultimately ditched our RAW WATER PUMP entirely on the Onan generator we have onboard Catamaran Impi. I was busy compiling a FULL OVERHAUL video for my son explaining how to strip and assemble the entire water system on the Fresh and raw water side of the generator, and thought to use some of the material to explain the VERY BASICS of how to remove the headache we as cruisers have around the rubber impeller replacement as well as sharing some further insight into raw water systems, so the NEWBIE exploring sailors out there can learn some of what we have learned from others along the way. I would like to make it clear that this video is not intended for the 'expert' who is looking for a 'quick fix and get to the point video' - it is intended to help others understand some of the logic behind this and ultimately also provides the solution with a bit more detail in the installation. So - if you are an expert in all things technical - simply forward to the relevant parts of the video that interest you. To put credits where credit is due - I must thank my cousin Kent @ JUST CATAMARANS in Florida, who initially gave me the idea to remove the rubber impeller in lieu of a March pump much like those used in air conditioning. Hi Everyone! Well, we had some more issues with the front left brake on our 1985 Porsche 356A Cab. There was brake fluid pouring down the back of the brake plate! Watch as I go through and figure out what the problem is so soon after a full brake rebuild for that wheels drum brakes. I found the issue while filming the VW Beetle Porsche 356 compare. Also, the brakes were starting to pull to the right again. Arrg! I think we may have solved it this time and after a couple weeks it seems to be dry (so far). We hope you enjoyed the video. SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners. Terrapin has been cruised extensively and constantly maintained to insure safe, reliable cruising. The current owners circumnavigated with their young family a couple of decades ago on a Mason sailboat and enjoyed this “second adventure cruise” with family and friends, embracing the comforts and convenience of an oceangoing trawler with all of the amenities and luxuries a Nordhavn 55 affords. Terrapin is hull 26, a 2007 model of the popular Nordhavn 55 series. She was purchased by her third (current) owners in Washington four years ago. She was sailed to Port Townsend marina for service work to attend to items found during survey and the biggest upgrade was the spectacular green paint job of the hull that turns heads and announces the arrival of a very special boat in every harbor and cove she visits. After enjoying some Pacific northwest cruising, she was pointed south where she explored the US west coast, then Mexico, Costa Rica and all the way down to the Panama Canal – stopping to visit and enjoy many locales. Once she transited the Canal she made a cross Caribbean crossing to return the US east coast after a visit to the Bahamas. Listing brokers, Ray Danet and Jeff Merrill have been friends with the owners for many years. Ray met them in the South Pacific while out cruising on sailboats back in the 80’s and 90’s and Jeff helped them purchase Terrapin back in his Nordhavn days. One of the most significant differences aboard Terrapin is the light and airy staterooms which are all finished in white laminate with teak trim. This “Herreshoff” look was what sold the owners as it was exactly what they were trying to find and is rare on a Nordhavn. It is the same feel that they had on their Mason sailboat, making the transition easier and more familiar. Terrapin received a refresh and makeover with new chairs in the saloon, appealing upholstery on the flybridge seating and many subtle decorating improvements throughout. More important than cosmetics, Terrapin has undergone an extensive review of equipment and systems to ensure reliability offshore – important lessons learned during their sailing days, you can’t be too prepared! The boat utilises a hard-chined, plywood construction and this design of boat is a proven, capable, ocean-going vessel.
