We finally get our mast up! Although, we're not ready for the crane to come lift the mast. We struggle to get everything done before it's time to lift the mast in the air. s/v Cloudy Bay (Hallberg-Rassy 54) has a rough windward sail north into the Grenadine islands. First island, Carriacou, is very local and quite laid back compared to Grenada main island. We hired a scooter for a day to see the sights. Sandy Island is a jewel in the sea, next to Carriacou island. It is a thin strip of sand with palm trees, a reef in front and a crystal blue water anchorage behind. Just the sort of island you would imagine in the Caribbean.

#Caribbean600 - The RORC Caribbean 600 has grown up to become a 'must do' offshore classic. The 2018 race celebrated its tenth anniversary and the 600-mile race around 11 Caribbean islands is on the bucket list of any serious offshore sailor. This year, any remanence of its stature as a Caribbean cruise was totally extinguished. 25 knots of solid trade winds with gusty squalls and a confused sea state delivered a challenge to over 800 sailors from six different continents. The 2018 edition of the race was the coming of age of the RORC Caribbean 600.

Dieses Video ist wieder sehr ruhig (für manchen sicher langweilig) geraten. So waren aber auch die 4 Tage: Ruhig und sehr entspannend. Gefilmt in 4K mit der Sony a6500. We transit the Providence Channel through the Bahamas and enter the Gulf Stream Thursday morning, Feb. 1. By the strong north setting current we end up closing the Florida coast just north of Ft. Lauderdale and I discover that you have to get within the 100-foot line in order to escape the current and sail south to Cape Florida. We enter Biscayne Bay after dark and drop anchor. A few days later we work our way into the mooring field at Dinner Key Marina by a winding route that obliges us to put the outboard on the dinghy and use it as a push boat.
