Hi, I'm Craig Bowman and you may know me from my Sailing and Travel (Vlog Style) Channel called Cruising Off Duty. In the last 18 months that I have been filming that channel, I have bought A LOT of Cameras, Gimbals, Drones, Computers and all sorts of other technology to help make that channel the very best quality that it can be. I am sure I will buy a lot more tech in the future. In the past when I bought a new camera or piece of technology, I would often make an episode on my Cruising Off Duty channel showing off the new item and how it was going to be used to make that channel even better. I realized that channel should only be about Sailing and Travel Lifestyle videos and I would create this new channel, Average Tech Fan, to showcase the Tech I have bought and the tech I plan to buy in the future. Some of the tech I have bought in the recent past I can tell you if after 3 months, 6 months etc, if it has stood the test of time and if I would suggest buying it or suggest avoiding it. When there is new Cameras, Drones or other technology coming out in the future, I will research it and tell you if it is something that I think will be something worth buying or not. When I do get new Tech, I will review it as quickly as I can on this channel. Hopefully if you are a tech fan, like I am, you will subscribe to this channel for episodes on all things Tech. I solo sail from Costa Rica to Panama and take on the epic adventure of navigating up a windy, shallow and quite remote river upon my arrival in Panama. My depth sounder has seen bigger numbers for sure, charts are incorrect and I have to be on my toes not to ground my sailboat on a riverbank. The return to Panama lays a little heavy on my heart...but at least, Panama still has spots for me to discover, which always makes returning not quite so bad ;). It's time for family again, our full movie-length documentary has to be released and I promised Maria to help her with her charters for the 2018 season. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? Episode 20 So we had a fantastic Easter weekend as well as celebrated Ricky's 28th birthday by going to the aquarium but first... We had car trouble & spent the whole night fixing the problem.. (we needed new spark plugs and they weren't seal in properly) but then it was off to the aquarium. I even got in a lil secret kiss from Lexi the seal.. (Ricky wasn't too jealous) ha ha! It was back to work and Ricky started routeing our counter tops & we temporarily sealed up our windows and a few fittings that were leaking as we definitely don't want our nice new wood to get rotten. We also fit in our cute lil trash can! We had an amazing Good Friday together and ate so much! We had a great morning exploring the underwater sights Barbados had to offer as we got towed behind Geoff using a second hand kids body board! Great cheap fun, all you need is a tow rope, small body board, tight bikini bottoms hahaha and a similar boat to Geoff! (a tender). After our underwater fun we picked up anchor, said goodbye to the beautiful Barbados and sailed overnight to the stormy St Lucia. We arrived to a spectacular coastline full of volcanos and a burst of natural splendour with every turn. We anchored in the stunning Cove call Marigot Bay, just South of Rodney Bay. Enjoy! C'est un minuscule fjord de 1 km de longueur comportant un passage délicat à l'entrée d'a peine 15 m de large. Mais cette difficulté franchie, c'est la promesse d'une sécurité totale en cas de tempête. Nous y sommes restés deux nuits.

This week the major refit work continues with replacing part of the core in the Coach house roof. We show how to make foam board templates to avoid miscuts on plywood that is $160 USD per sheet. We show how we cut out and dry fit the new plywood and then ultimately seal it down to the beams below. The next step is fiberglassing over the core !!! We decided retiring early and poor is better than working our lives away till 68, retiring rich but unable to enjoy all that living aboard Freya has to offer.

I have bought tree stainless screws so everything will look nice from the top. Unfortunately, the boat still have a leak in the bollard area so I reseal the two screws where I think the leak is and seal of the crack in the side with some sikaflex 291i. Under deck I make a flat surface so the washers will be well supported, I use a thickened epoxy from West System for that job.

Things aren't going as easily as we had hoped concerning the sale of our house. It's not really that big of a deal, aside from the fact that it's causing us to miss out on valuable cruising time. In episode 12 of BoatTechTV we look at Open Water Propeller Tests. This is the primary method to determine the performance of a new propeller design which can be performed in a towing tank or a cavitation tunnel. The test is normally non-dimensionalised and then used in conjunction with a resistance test for a hull to design a propeller.

Belladonna, Dazcat D10, is 20 this year! Owner Dominic tells us why she's perfect for him and how owning her has enticed him to try his hand at Mocra racing for the first time. They have a full season ahead including the 1800 mile Royal Western Yacht Club's two-handed Round Britain and Ireland 2018, so you should get some good glimpses of Dominic and Belladonna in action out on the water. Dominic has teamed up with Matt, yard manager Multihull Centre and Matt will be crewing and posting updates during their two-handed adventures through the season. Belladonna is one of four #Dazcats taking part in the RBI so there's going to be plenty going on...

Treated myself to a visit of the Interboot in Friedrichshafen in late 2017. So this are model year 2018 boats I'm bitching about. Everything said here is just my opinion. The complaints voiced are the textbook definition of first world problems. Just a nudge for the manufacturers. The last couple of steps one could take to propell a boats interior from very good to perfect. Or some minor things for potential buyers to maybe take into account. So don't get upset. ;) According to the renderings on the website the 28.1 also features a boomed, self-tacking fock. Possibly a nice idea.
