Sailing on a yacht is awesome. But it get's it's value when you discover the places where you are. We decided to do a Pilgrim walk from Nazaré to Fatima. If you want to know Portugal, you need to see Fatima. It is the religious center of the country. On our way we are surprised by the generosity of the local people. And due to the hot temperature and the mountains we need to climb it is quite a challenge. Subscribe to our channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcm7H4_C-XEPoG_y14pW8Ow In our trip we want to visit places that inspire us. Nature, culture, but also faith play important roles in our video's. It is the beginning of our channel, so we like your input. Feel free to comment, give advise, and tell us what you like! So this week its race 4, in the 5 race MYC 2018 single handed race series. I came second in race 1, had to miss race 2 due to other commitments and only managed a 4th in race 3, so if I want a chance of winning the series I badly need a good result this week. So this is what happened. We make these films just for fun, and we hope that you have enjoyed watching them however we have been asked on a couple of occasions now if we have a Paytreon account. We don’t want to do that at this stage as we feel it would turn the channel into a business, and as we said at the beginning, this is all just for fun. However if you would like to support us and feel you could help contribute to the cost of making these films then you can do that via our PayPal account here. A big thank you to everyone that has already done this, its a great help. https://www.paypal.me/TheFoxwellFamily And a big thank you to everyone that has supported us so far, its very much appreciated. Better Sunflower Oil!) Sift flour on the table, make a small pit in the middle, add all the other ingredients and knit it until it becomes a very soft dough. Or you can also use your kitchen aid with a dough hook to do this job for you. Afterwards you oil the dough, cover it and let it sit for 30 min. Now you roll the dough until it has the size of a plate, oil it again and let it sit for another 5 min. Now the tough work starts – you have to roll the dough so thin that you are able to read a newspaper through it. You have to use your hands for this. As a small hint, take off your rings, it will make this work way easier! Now you can fill the dough (2/3). Brush butter/fat on the rest (1/3), furl it, roll it, brush it with butter/fat from the outside and put it in the oven. After 45min, 200 degrees, it’s ready. Strudel filling First version: Apples 10 Big Apples (already sliced very thin) 80g Granulated Sugar Cinnamon 100g Breadcrumbs 80g Butter Raisins 120g Cream (Rahm) Brown the Breadcrumbs in butter, let it cool down, add sugar and cinnamon. Cover 2/3 of the dough with the cream (Rahm), put the roasted breadcrumbs on top, spread the apples and the raisins over it. Brush the rest of the dough with butter/fat (1/3), furl it, roll it, and brush it with butter/fat from the outside again.
Our friends Pat and Michelle took us on a weekend trip over to Bimini- Bahamas with their Cessna. The main mission: Bring back 2 adorable rescue Potcakes. And because the island doesn't have any vets, we couldn't refuse to fly back with them to give them some good TLC and find them a good home [It also didn't long for Pat and Michelle to decide keep one of them] But while were there, we went on a few explorations. I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel the world. I make vlogs sharing my ups and downs, and my adventures in vans, on motorbikes, and on sailboats. - Who is Champ? Champ is my handsome 14-year-old Labrador, who travelled almost everywhere with me for his whole life. He loves chin scratches, fetching sticks, and scarfing down cheeseburgers and pizza. - What camera equipment do you use? I use a Panasonic FZ2500, a DJI Mavic Pro, a Rode video micro with Deadcat, a Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, as well as DIY tripods and lights. - What are your vehicles? I drove a 1992 Dodge Ram B350 camper van all over North America for about two years. Travelling by motorcycle made for some unique trips. I explored the Canadian Maritimes (and deserts and backroads all over the continent) on a 2002 Kawasaki KL250 Super Sherpa dual sport bike, and also rode my 1999 Yamaha V-Star XVS1100 cruiser with a Champion Escort sidecar across my home country twice. From land to water travels: I currently live and work on a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 catamaran. - What are your plans with the boat? I will fix it up, run it on nothing but green electric power, and sail off into the sunset. Stay tuned for the growing build and the adventures to come! - How do you find all these cool places we see in the videos? To gain access to my complete research and the world traveller’s map I curate during my explorations off the beaten path, you need to hit me up on Patreon. Here are a few websites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/, https://www.campendium.com/, http://www.atlasobscura.com/, https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - How do you afford your lifestyle? I live and travel economical by using free camping and mooring, cooking my own meals, thoroughly researching products and how-to’s online, practicing a DIY approach, and being as efficient as possible with my resources. I've struggled financially for most of my life, and although I'm blessed with helpful friends and family as well as being able-bodied, white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to pursue your passion. So, I learned that you DO need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, and a traditional career but that it IS possible, worth it, and the only lifestyle that makes me happy. I make my income almost entirely by creating content for YouTube, but it's a tight budget. Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

The deadwood shaped in the last episode is capped with a wormshoe. The wormshoe is a protective sacrificial piece that can be replaced if it is ever damaged from running aground or any similar mishap. We have help from Michael, who drove all the way from Ohio to help us as well as Rhys, who flew in from Ireland! With the wormshoe finished we move on to milling the lumber we took down this past winter to finish out our supply to build Arabella. James from the J-Team (http://www.jteamsawmill.com) came with his beast of a mill and we banged the job out in 2 days! Give him a shout if you are looking for someone to mill your lumber. Finally, check out Rhys' channel as well. Rhys is fixing up a steel boat in Cork, Ireland and doing a bang up job. He is one hell of nice guy and a hard worker to boot. Sure you'll enjoy watching his channel as well. https://www.youtube.com/user/rhyswalters1 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FOLLOW US: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/acorntoarabella/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acorntoarabella Website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com
Being in Hawaii and all we figured it would be a good place to try out surfing for the first time. It was hard to say the least! We also explore the island Oahu and go hiking, visit the famous North Shore and Pearl Harbor. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built Beason 40 in aluminium, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. In this episode I eat a huge pizza, work on solar panels, try to get an American visa, go to a Puddle jump meet, say hi to Sailing Zingaro, have a laundry invasion and fight the Rust Wars. #sailing #sailingblog #cruising#alternativelifestyle Thank you for watching this episode, please give us a thumbs up and subscribe. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. ⛵⛵⛵ Hello, Welcome to another episode of #Sailing Ruby #Rose! ⛵⛵⛵ This week we're in #Bermuda and we are LOVING our time on this island. But before we can explore and enjoy ourselves, we need to get everything ready for Leg 2 of our #Atlantic Crossing. We have a long list of things to do, items to fix and stuff to buy. We're participating in the ARC Europe rally, so that means only one thing: it's time to party! We're treated to a traditional #Bermudan Gombey dance, and then to another Bermudan tradition (thankfully no longer being practiced!) of the Ducking Stool: a way of punishing women for petty crimes by tying them to a chair and plunging them into the water. Oh, and Nick is still sporting his moustache... HOW TO GET A SHOUTOUT! We LOVE interacting with our Ruby Rose crew (that's you, if you're reading this!!). So if you'd like a shoutout- or if you want us to shout out to someone else to surprise them!- just send us a photo of you rocking our Ruby Rose gear, or maybe enjoying our videos and we'll pick the best ones ! ⛵ - Subscribe Channel: http://bit.ly/SailingYachtRubyRose-Official ⛵ - Follow Saling Stories: http://bit.ly/sailinglifestylestories ⛵ - Sailing Adventures: http://bit.ly/sailingaroundtheworld ⛵ - Sailing News: http://yachtrubyrose.com/ ⛵ - Sailing Adventures: http://yachtrubyrose.com/category/sailing/ ⛵ - About Us: http://yachtrubyrose.com/crew/ ⛵ - Contact Us: http://yachtrubyrose.com/contact-us/ ⛵ About Us: This is us, an #Aussie girl and a #British guy and for some reason, we’ve become completely obsessed with the idea of sailing around the world and sharing our experiences and information through our sailing lifestyle videos with others. 42 Tiwal inflatable sailboats and their 67 sailors met for the 5th Tiwal Cup in the Gulf of Morbihan, France! They came from the USA, Peru, Denmark, Germany, the UK, Spain, Belgium and France. As Matt from the UK said, "we had all seasons in one day: wind, rain, lightening, no wind..." Thank you so much again for this great day and see you all next year! This small inflatable sailboat is easily assembled in 20 minutes without any tools. Easy to handle, its sailing qualities will give you a thrilling experience. Very responsive, stable, and comfortable in light winds, the Tiwal 3 is dynamic in more challenging conditions. Whether you’re sailing solo or double-handed, it is perfect for your adventures at sea or on a lake! Boat of the Year Award | Best Innovation | by Sailing World U.S.A. "The thing was a blast. I couldn't believe how well it sailed. You could have some serious fun with this, especially in big breeze." -------------------------- ** The Tiwal story ** * The Birth of Tiwal * As a girl, the first time our founder Marion Excoffon was told, “No!” by her father when she asked to use the family boat, her life as an inventor began. It was then she started dreaming of building her own craft, an ambitious feat that would come true years later. On the road to creating an innovative high-speed vessel for everyone from kids and first timers to expert sailors who want to test limits, there were a number of prototypes, failures, challenges and headaches. But, if there’s one thing Marion’s known for, it’s her sailor’s grit! * Combining Fun & Technology * The award winning Tiwal concept is easy assembly and storage - maximum fun and performance for watersports and activities. A Tiwal isn’t your average dinghy! Our design is the result of tons of coordination, talent, and technological savvy. * A Growing Global Community * For our community of Tiwal skippers (more than 2,500 worldwide!) all this innovative design means their focus is fixed on the pleasures of watersports and having tons of fun on a responsive sailing craft. With excellent upwind and downwind abilities combined with high-speeds, Tiwals are a part of both fun and professional performance. The Tiwal 3 received the Boat of the Year (Best innovation) Award 2014 from Sailing World in the USA and the Red Dot Award, with recognitions, accolades, and smiling faces continuing to join together on the waves worldwide.
