We're finally back in the water! Whew...what a journey! But it hasn't been all bad. There is definitely a silver lining to behold, and it sure feels good to be able to take Wahine back into open water.

Some of the latest sail designs lose the cables. These revolutionary cable-less load-sharing technologies have been trickling down to more and more boats. Now available for these sails, the Harken Reflex Furler can be a potent weapon. Rigged cable-free, Reflex features a tack plate sewn into the sail that slides into the Reflex drive unit. This allows a variety of reaching and broad-reaching sails to be used with the same drive unit while also maximizing the sailsʼ luff length. Apart from the major performance boost, when deployed with these revolutionary sails, Reflex delivers easier sail handling and stowage. Teamed up, these major advances in sails and furling enable sails to be deployed and struck strategically -- even for just minutes at a time. They work more efficiently with much less load on the boat and rig while remaining easy to furl by hand. Learn more about the cable-free system in Seahorse Magazine: https://www.seahorsemagazine.com/150-content/december-2019/832-reflex-reaction

During the start of August we got our first sailing holiday on our much loved boat. First we head off to our favourite place - Säck…. again, sorry for that but new places up and coming don’t you worry. I have to fix the shower hose, figure out where all of the water ir going in the boat and have a good moan about it again :) Finally, we have some fun in the woods, happy days. I started off this holiday without really filming a great deal but that’s sometimes just how it goes. Hope you are enjoying December and Christmas so far, all the best, Chris and Tanja

This is a really cool display if you have a chance to get there, and the entire resort is decorated, but dress WARM!!! for ICE! it's only 9 degrees in the ICE! display, you can tell by my face I was trying to really get out of there after about 15 minutes! The complimentary Parka helps but its 9 degrees! LOL! Leave comments below and let us know what you think.

This is the first episode of First Mate And Captain! I really appreciate you watching, I'm not 100% happy with the video, I really want to improve the quality in the future! Better content and I've really got to get better with zooming and focusing! and I need better equipment to help make filming easier, hang in there, things will only get better from here! Also, I have to say, its a bit strange filming everything at first, but it's getting more natural, so the content should start flowing easier soon! A little about myself! I'm the First Mate on Providence Sail Cargo and Captain of SV Dagon! I want to share my life at sea with everyone. Come find out what happens on a 1903 built Gaff Rigged Tall Ship, and a 1956 built cutter rigged Sailboat! As First Mate aboard Providence, I travel weekly on a 4 day cargo run through the PNWs southern gulf Islands, doing that, I meet amazing people, sail a ton, seeing amazing things and my duties are to do maintenance projects, rigging and do my best to keep the boat ship shape! All of which I will share with you! and on MY boat, Dagon, I just fix broken things, break things and have wild sailing adventures! See what it takes to sail and maintain two wooden boats, a Tall ship from 1903 and a Sail Boat from 1956. Hopefully we all learn something! I love what I do and hope you will follow along as we try to push for greener alternatives for shipping local goods and passengers aboard Providence and have good adventures aboard Dagon, and any other boat I happen to end up on. Thank you for watching! I really appreciate it! Captain Barry.

To Get Your Own Osmo Action click the link! http://bit.ly/DJIosmoActionCamera Until the 31st December 2019, receive a 20% discount on the Osmo Action when purchasing through the DJI e-store! #HolidayInMotion #OsmoAction #DJI #ad This is a total different video than the usual Sailing Nandji video blogs that you are used too! We were offered the opportunity to play around with the new Osmo Action camera from DJI and give it a review. We thought this opportunity too much fun to pass up on and went out for an adventure around the island of Phuket in Thailand. We leave Nandji and hire a Scooter and ride up to the Big Buddha on top of the hill over looking the Chalong anchorage. We then ride down to Kata beach which is a beautiful white sandy beach. The sun was shinning and it was hot! The most important item to take to any beach is a pointless blow up toy, we tick that box and go floating and swimming in the shallows. It was a great fun and we really enjoyed the opportunity to test out and play with this camera! With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we have returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south to Chagos and across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! The adventure is just beginning as we plan to sail our Nandji around the world!! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! This is the story of the 2019 Transpac told from the perspective of the boat "Gamble" Gamble is a Schock 40' with a speckled past. Its sister ships were known for losing their keels but its design was ahead of its time and was passed down to generations of race boats around the world. This is the story of how the boat brought together a crew and proved the world wrong by making it 2225 nm from Long Beach to Hawaii. Please understand that the humor in this is meant to be tongue in cheek and no accusations of cheating are valid coming from Tail End Charlie.

After a pretty fast first day we have to get a bit more creative in finding the smartest route towards Santa Lucia as there is very limited wind for a couple of days. Should we go south towards the steady trade winds or stay close to the great circle course, the shortest route.

We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love Carla and Simon

Video Sponsored by Ridge Wallet: https://www.ridgewallet.com/lines Use Code “lines” for 10% off your order” Lin and Larry Pardey circumnavigated twice on two different boats: each of them were engine-less, hand-built by Larry, and less than 30'. I bring this up because people who aren't familiar with sailing vessels might be surprised that a boat of this size could be fit for ocean passages. Pacific Seacraft makes excellent, high quality yachts that are small and ocean-capable. The 25 is no different. I believe this boat is a worthwhile project for someone looking for a true go-anywhere pocket cruiser and isn't afraid to restore her. She's perfect for someone with a little bit of land to store her on a trailer and restore her on his or her own time, at least that's what I would do. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. For this reason our channel is very DIY focused, with the goal to show anyone watching that a lot is possible if you're not afraid to make some mistakes along the way.
