On Passage from Mahon in the Balearics to south Sardinia Louise and I in Paw Paw our Westerly Ocean 43 we were visited by a school of dolphins for about 5 minutes, I got my video camera out and this video is all one shot and in fact they stayed even after I stopped shooting.. There are many boats that film their passage through the Panama Canal so before I went through in Bambola Quatre, my Moody 36 I loaned my crew to my friends in Pax, as line handlers, (you must have 4 plus helms person) and went as a passenger with my video camera. Every passage through the locks and across the lake is different and it is a risk, Two weeks before the transit one yacht was sunk and two dis-masted when the mooring lines of the tug they were tied alongside broke! Having transited the Panama Canal, visited Panama City for duty free stores and toys you start on your first passage on the wide, blue Pacific Ocean... And cross the Equator for the first time if you have started in Europe on your voyage. The Galapagos are a major tourist destination and pretty restrictive in terms of where visiting yachts may anchor. However it is a wonderful and special set of anchorages and islands and a place to catch you breath before the 3,000 mile passage to the Marquesa Islands... If you can ride a bit almost all the inhabited Pacific islands have the descendants of the ponies left there by the Spanish Conquistadors. With a guide you can mount up and visit the most amazing parts of the islands inaccessible by any other means. (do not expect crash hats or even both stirrups. TIP. In Bambola we sailed north from Sydney where it was raining a lot, towards Brisbane and anchored in the lagoon of a coral island called Lady Musgrave's Island. After a couple of days a blow was forecast so I moved Bambola towards the centre of the lagoon and laid out every foot of anchor chain I had in the 10 metre deep water over coral sand. That night it blew 60 knots with waves coming over the reef. Two yachts dragged their anchors and were driven onto the reef. I called the Australian coastguard as did an Australien yacht anchored near me and a helicopter was dispatched to pick up the crews before the boats were driven over the coral reefs into deep water and sank... Installing a Steer Stabilizer is not that hard, but still has its issues. We replaced our Steering Stabilizer because just taking the factory one to replace the gears pretty much destroyed it. The hardest part of replacing your Steering Stabilizer is just taking the old one off. What better time to replace the Steering Stabilizer than when changing your gears because it is all going to have to move out of the way anyway. While the steering stabilizer won't fix the death wobble, it will help mask it, but if this is your issue you should look at all your steering components. First passage of the new winter season: Maryland to Florida, USA. After 6 weeks boat preparation and stocking up in Herrington Harbour North Marina, we are finally on our way south just as winter seems to be starting. Tricky exit through the marina channel shoals and our journey starts with a wonderful sail to christen the new season, blasting our way down the Chesapeake at 9kts, with a strong following wind. After a night in Deltaville the weather has calmed and we motor all the way to Cape Hatteras, rounding its notorious shoals in a complete calm. The calm continues through the night, but we do manage to sail again coming into the quaint town of Beaufort, North Carolina. Here we celebrate Thanksgiving with the local OCC port officer, Diane. From Beaufort we take another overnight passage to Charleston where we are weather bound for several days and continue some jobs on the boat, most notably wiring-in the new remote-control system for furling the sails. From Charleston, one more overnight passage gets us into St. Augustine, Florida, where we enjoy a few days cycling, a nice dinner with the OCC port officers Tim & Tracy and a few more days hiding from weather. 24 Nov - 14 Dec 2019

E.P 112 So it's our first week living aboard Lady Africa on the water & it definitely has been taking some getting use to. Besides the rocking to sleep, I have had to get used to all the sounds of the ocean and barnacles around me.. We get started on finishing up a few tasks we have left such as our horseshoe life rings, connecting up our deck shower and deck wash, Ricky climbs up the mast to fix up our VHF connection. Install our transducer (thankfully we didn't sink the boat) We obviously sort out some of our fishing gear & Ricky goes for his first surfing lesson... He didn't manage to convince me to get him a board.. maybe I'll let him have another go at it. 🤣😉 See ya next week!! JMYS has been using 360 images on our listings for the last couple of years and discovered this process which allows us to connect all of the 360 images together to provide a more cohesive tour and plays like a short movie. Each area completes a 360 rotation for a short time before automatically going to the next location. You can watch it as a video, or pause the screen to take control of the image look all around. Play around and you’ll see that these 360’s allow you to look in every direction – left, right, above, below – as if you are actually aboard. You can look closer and zero in on the details of interest and easily skip to the next location. Please think of this as a photo album that is not a collection of one directional images that you have to click on one at a time. This process is easier, faster and a more efficient way for you to spend your time versus the old method of clicking on 360 photos one at a time and waiting for them to load. There is background music instead of voice overs so that you can jump around without missing anything. Hopefully you’ll agree this is a cool new way for you to view our listings and gives you the ability to stop and look around, or to let it flow seamlessly room to room. Nach 2 Wochen auf Gran Canaria segeln wir weiter nach Santa Cruz de Teneriffa. Wir haben wieder einen Gast an Bord und segeln 57 Seemeilen durch das Blauwasser des Atlantiks. Ich erkläre euch meine Windpilot Atlantik und zeige euch, wie ich meinen Grossbaum bei Passatbesegelung fixiere.
