We have had the chance to meet all sorts of travellers and their camper - today's video is a tour of the tiny home belonging to Hugo and Emeline. They are the couple from France who have been living in their #LandRoverDefender 4x4 #PopTopCamper for over 2 years now. Their overland journey video that we made is also on our channel - if you haven't seen it. Their priorities when building their camper was a hot water system, simple kitchen, storage, small desk to work at, bed, able to stand up inside their rig and also run a fridge. Everything else, they basically do outside of their vehicle. We learned quite a lot from Hugo and Emeline, not just about the interior build but also from their experience of crossing borders and overland travel. They drove from France to Japan, crossed China to Laos, Indonesia and Malaysia and are now on their way back to France via India. Hopefully you too get some good tips from them. Guest host Paul Trammell interviews Andrew Bishop of the World Cruising Club (WCC ) just prior to the 2019 Caribbean 600. Andrew completed his first Fastnet Race at age 15 and was later knocked unconscious in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) in 1989, without a lifejacket on. Fortunately he survived and went on to meet Jimmy Cornell shortly after, offering to get involved in newly created World Rally for Cruisers (WRC). He joined the WCC in 1991 and helped launch and run the inaugural 16-month WRC for 35 yachts. If you are interested in joining a cruising rally, Andrew discusses the benefits that WCC cruising couples have found most valuable. Andrew has spent a life on the water both in the Navy and as a sailor and he shares valuable advice on safety equipment for offshore cruisers, the rising safety standards that are required and he philosophy on being self sufficient and not expecting to be rescued. Back in Thailand it is time to tick some jobs off that never ending boat list. https://www.sailingnandji.com/ In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we return to Thailand from Malaysia and get straight into the list of boat jobs needed to complete before we can continue on our journey. Thailand is a great place to complete tasks as there are many options to find boat supplies. Whilst we were cruising in Indonesia, Yosh made a boo boo and accidentally put a hole in the tender. After patching it up himself, the continual leak has been driving us crazy so we take it to the professionals to fix. Whilst there, we get some added protection for our RIB. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we have returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south to Chagos and across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! The adventure is just beginning as we plan to sail our Nandji girl around the world!! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! Early morning leaving Penang, Malaysia. It was a bit stressful as there's quite shallow waters and big chances of local fisherman setting up fishing nets. The chances even gets bigger as we have to give way to the big cruise ship and leave the channel. Christmas time is a time for chilling. Our major goal for the week before Christmas was to tackle our saloon ceiling. It had been driving us crazy for weeks but we finally all pitched in to get it done in time for our own version of a "White Christmas" after the ceiling was done we finally had some well deserved down time.

Eine nagelneue Jeanneau Sun Odyssey in 44 Fuß bekommt man für "nur" knapp 240.000 €. Ein solches Angebot erscheint ziemlich attraktiv, wenn man seine eigene Langfahrt vorbereitet und sich bei der Bootssuche in ungefähr diesem Preisbereich aufhält. Allerdings werden verschiedene Schiffe für verschiedene Dinge konzipiert. Manche Modelle sind durch Aufteilung, verwendete Materialien und Konzept allgemein eher für Küstensegeln geeignet, andere Hersteller richten sich von Hause aus mehr auf Langfahrt aus. Und da Langfahrt und Bootskauf unsere Lieblingsthemen sind, haben wir uns auf der BOOT 2020 in Düsseldorf verschiedene Serienhersteller vorgeknöpft und gehen 7 Kriterien durch, die für uns bei der Auswahl eines Blauwasserschiffs eine große Rolle spielen, die allerdings teilweise nur mehr oder weniger gut gelöst worden sind. Es war super interessant, die verschiedensten Hersteller miteinander zu vergleichen. Wir waren auf zwei Jeanneau, Hanse, Sunbeam, Hallberg Rassy, Nordship und Faurby. Und am Ende stellen wir ein Segelboot vor, das unserer Meinung nach die 7 Kriterien sehr gut gelöst hat, damit wirklich Blauwassertauglich ist - allerdings auch seinen Preis hat. Die Sirius 40 DS. Wir haben auf der BOOT 2020 viele Zuschauer, Freunde und auch Kunden treffen können und hatten eine super Zeit.
