We sail off anchor and leave Portimao, Portugal and make our way directly across the Gulf of Cadiz to anchor under sail in Cadiz, Spain. No motor, no stress, no electronics. We raise the anchor by hand with the sails up and head to our next port where we anchor once again with the sails still flying. Along the way, we hear the ethereal sound of whales in the water below us. The sound reverberates through the hull and takes us to a wonderful place as we voyage across the worlds oceans with our electric motor. Catamaran IMPI is sailing around the world. In this series we are sailing in INDONESIA - It's OUT OF SEASON for sailing RAJA AMAPT but we are LOVING IT !!! We share some of our dives - Insanely beautiful, a stunning 'hide away marina' (I say so because very few sailors know of it's existence and yet, for Indonesia this place is a treasure for what otherwise is a very remote sailing territory for services offered to sailboats. In our previous episode, we've come through some heavy weather to get here, and this episode we show why it was WORTH IT ! Meet some of the folks at Meridian Dive Adventures and 'Waisai Marina' (as some of us to refer it) - A number of South Africans along with local folks operate here. We show you some of the programs for youngsters here, young sea cadets being trained in military style to become seamen - once trained - they are the most sought after sea cadets for commercial operations in the world. This is why discovering Waisai (Meridian Adventures) Marina is such a treasure. Had we known this, we could have sailed lighter out of Australia. This week we spend some time fishing on the small powerboat in Gasparillo Sound at the Boca Granda Pass. The fishing wasn't great, but the friends were, the relaxation was great, and the planning and discussing the trip and work to get DreamChaser sailed across the Gulf was productive. We spend some time and talk about the work we are doing/having done on the Formosa 51 in preparation for the trip across. I am looking forward to doing it and getting nervous all at the same time. We found someone to do work for us on the boat and so far I have been pleased with it. Angie from Saltwater Marine in Mandeville, LA, has come highly referred from others that have boats in our marina. She is an electrical engineer by trade and has been helping out with electrical and other work as well. With a large northern cold front headed their way, Captain James, Captain Josh and Larry raced all night across the Gulf Stream. The crew starts in the Port Everglades and headed to south Bimini, where they anchored after a 12 hour crossing. With reports of the north Bimini channel being improperly marked and experiencing heavy shoaling, James braved the seas in the dinghy (Mrs.Kitty) to take a look at the current conditions of the channel entrance. Next task - clearing into customs and immigration. With the blow building, the guys caught & cleaned some conch and tucked in at south Bimini for the night. The next day the north swell increased to 6-8 foot seas with winds blowing 25 knots, forecasted to clock around from the east. With those conditions, north Bimini was out of the question for entry. The little hide out left them exposed to the east. So, they sailed south to Cat Cay and anchored up for the night on the south west side. The next day the guys all went for a dinghy adventure, exploring south Cat Cay and hunted the shallows for lunch. The following day the seas layed down, and with the wind out of the east, the crew sailed north and finally entered north bimini channel. They docked up at the world famous Bimini Big Game Club. They walked around and reminisced of past trips to this historic island, enjoyed the sunset on radio beach with coconut drinks. Followed up with dinner at the club and lots of stories. After a late night, the guys finally caught some sleep and awoke early for the crossing back to Florida. Thanks to Josh and Larry for the spontaneous adventure. When standing behind the jeep you can tell it was not running rich, I had large cam cars that would burn your eyes at idle. When pulling the spark plug it did not look to lean either, the plugs looked worn and needing replacement. After everything was done and it has been driving a while we mark this jeep issue repaired. In this video I wanted to demonstrate what the RCF NX45's & the 8004 Subwoofers sound like with an actual band playing through the system. Playing music through a system is one thing but playing an actual band is another. After the pretty anchorage Fury Cove we continue further north to Sheerwater Marina and Get to sail Pesistance with full sails up. What a treat!!! We have a spare day to plan and the Captain lets me chose a destination, how exciting! I decide for the picturesque and slightly remote Kynoch Inlet which presents itself as a win in the lottery! Apart from hundreds of waterfalls and an impressive scenery, we get to see six grizzly bears on shore, three of them being cubs. I think this will go into the books as one of the most precious moments of my life!
