In mid-November, we set sail to cross the Bay of Biscay, a passage most sailors avoid that late in the year. It’s known for vicious storms and unpredictable weather, a real challenge for anyone sailing across Biscay. We expected the best but prepared for the worst, before leaving Camaret-sur-Mer for A Coruña. Zoé, our long-keel ocean cruiser, proved herself once again, covering the Bay in just 68 hours, flying fast with only the mizzen and genoa. Our friend Jaime joined us for this leg, always ready for a challenging sail and everything that comes with it. It’s such a nice feeling — when you know what to do and when you know how to do it. Even if what’s ahead is long and unpleasant work, when you know the steps, you feel grounded, calm, and focused. The main thing is just to fall into rhythm. Now I have something to compare it with. There’s nothing worse than facing difficult work without having a clue how to do it — when no matter what you try, nothing works. The past couple of days were nothing but queues, paperwork, and trips to the neighbouring country. But I finally freed myself, and in the coming weeks, nothing like that is planned apart from working on my boat and filming for YouTube. So I’m diving headfirst into the task that’s still waiting for me. So that’s what I’m up to these days — still working on removing that nasty glue. CATAMARAN SAILING CONFIDENCE | ONLINE COURSE (4.86/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - 1,336 Reviews): https://www.nauticed.org/sailing-courses/view/catamaran-sailing-confidence If you're trying to get your catamaran into a T-head and the wind is coming from directly head, a really good way to get the catamaran in is to use a technique called ferrying the boat. The way that you do this is you stop parallel to the position with your boat angled towards the dock. Then use opposing engines to maintain that angle - knowing that the wind will want to turn your bow downwind. Also, the wind wants to push your boat downwind, and so you use the engines to maintain your position parallel to the dock. In this manner, your boat will crab sideways to the wind directly into your dock position. Once in the dock position, spin the boat to align it to the dock and put on the forward bow line 1st. #catamaran #sailing #catamaransailing
