In this episode, we share our final 118nm from Inskip Point to Brisbane, wrapping up our massive 2823nm round trip to Cairns and back – and it delivered one last mix of surprises. On the trip out of Inskip, we were all set to take on the Wide Bay Bar again when we spotted a few boats sneaking through Fisherman’s Gutter instead of battling the infamous “Mad Mile”. Conditions were calm, so we followed their lead and it paid off beautifully – saving us ~5–6nm and more than an hour. A game-changing shortcut we’ll definitely use again when the weather allows. After a quick stopover in Mooloolaba, Mother Nature turned it on… in all the wrong ways. Four storms rolled through, including our worst one yet: a brutal supercell slamming us with 44.4kn gusts (82km/hr), hail, torrential rain and cyclonic winds. Boats were dragging, colliding, one ended up on the rocks – and we even helped rescue a yacht whose anchor jammed while they were being pushed into another vessel. That’s more than enough excitement for this season. Once we finally made it home, a few good mates dropped in for celebratory drinks (thanks guys). Now we face the long list of boat jobs ahead of next season’s adventure up to the Cape. Thanks for sharing the journey with us, it’s been a rollercoaster but we’re keen to get back out and see more of this great coastline. Thanks for watching. RSHYR 2025 | Line Honours - Who Will Win? In the next few hours we will know who has won Line Honours in the 2025 edition of the race. If the River Derwent plays any of its night time games, it could be anyone of the five front runners now about to head into Storm Bay.
As luck would have it, we managed to time our stay in Fernandina Beach during the annual “Dickins on Centre” festival. The streets were festively lighted, crafts tents lined the walks full of wares, bakeries hawking their sweets, performers at every corner, here a Christmas tree, there a Christmas tree, locals and tourist meandering the streets in Victorian garb, drones lighting up the night sky, and hot cocoa stands everywhere. It did not take long for me to realize that we were stuck in a holiday Hallmark movie with no way out, oh the horror,,, the horror of it all . . . Merry Christmas everyone. As 2025 comes to an end, the entire Lagoon team would like to warmly thank our Lagoon family for another year spent together. As we look ahead to 2026, we remain committed to our ambition: designing catamarans that embrace travel, sharing, and the joy of sailing, alongside those who place their trust in us. Wishing you a wonderful holiday season, and we look forward to seeing you back on the water soon! _______________________________________________________ CATAMARAN INNOVATORS SINCE 1984 Lagoon was formed in pursuit of connection – with ourselves, our loved ones and the world around us. By bringing the human experience to the 7 seas, we’ve been able to unleash an unbridled sense of curiosity and instinctual need for quality since 1984. Something we wouldn’t have accomplished without a collective passion for spectacular destinations and even better journeys getting there. As confirmed sailors, we all know that our boats have to be fast, comfortable and safe: seaworthy. We build them based on our love of the sea and the constant aim of good-quality work. We design them as if we were the future owners. As shipbuilders and sailors, it is part of our logic. Day 17 of our Atlantic crossing starts the best way possible: real, deep sleep. After days of exhaustion, the ocean finally gives us calmer conditions, long stretches of rest, and a sense that our bodies are catching up. We wake up hopeful for a fish, surrounded by sargassum, with clean solar panels after overnight rain — but power quickly becomes the theme of the day as we talk through the realities of running a high-demand boat entirely off-grid. We break down why even 1,800 watts of solar doesn’t always keep up on passage, how shading and boat motion affect production, and why cooking, water-making, Starlink, autopilot, and daily life add up fast. We also talk honestly about future power ideas, including why wind generation might make more sense for us than a hydrogenerator. Midday brings another mechanical curveball: our alternator fails. We walk through what that actually means — what still works, what doesn’t, and why the engine remains safe to run even without charging the house bank. Not ideal, but manageable. The rest of the day is slow and human in the best way: showers, checking on Dingo’s healing ear, clay Christmas crafts made from ethical natural pigments, homemade pizza, sourdough, and settling in for our annual tradition of watching Harry Potter — thankfully stored on a hard drive instead of locked behind streaming borders. No land in sight yet, but the weather has improved, morale is higher, and for the first time in a while, the crossing feels sustainable again. 🌊Go Follow Aiyana! @PiratePrincessChronicles 🌎 FOLLOW OUR CROSSING LIVE @PredictWind Tracker: https://www.predictwind.com/tracking/EvaSailing08282023?3DIcons=true Want to see more about our new Dinghy?! Most people don’t give up on cruising because of weather, boats, or seamanship. They give up because they can’t figure out the money. In this episode, I break down how people actually make money while cruising—and just as importantly, what doesn’t work once real life at sea gets involved. This isn’t a hype video. There’s no passive-income fantasy here. We talk honestly about: Why chartering is a terrible “backup plan” for most cruisers Why physical labor and boat work often trap people in one place The reality of consulting, freelancing, and remote work offshore Why social media is a long game—not a paycheck How real estate can support cruising only if it’s set up beforehand And why online businesses are one of the few models that consistently survive cruising life when done right This conversation is especially for: People dreaming about cruising but stuck on the financial side Couples trying to make this decision together Anyone who wants the truth, not the Instagram version I’m not promising this will work for everyone. I’m sharing what I’ve seen survive reality—motion, fatigue, bad internet, time zones, broken gear, and stress. If you’re not independently wealthy and you want to understand how people make this life work financially, this one’s for you.
Six hundred pounds. Inches of clearance. And absolutely no room for mistakes. Now that the engine is finally inside the cockpit, the next challenge is getting it the rest of the way into the boat — and this part might be even harder than the lift itself. In this episode, we’re faced with one of the tightest moves of the entire build: getting our diesel hybrid engine up and over the cockpit sill, across the bridge deck, and into the aft berth without damaging the boat — or ourselves. With limited clearance, no working trolley on the I-beam, and six hundred pounds hanging overhead, every decision matters. We spend the day protecting surfaces, building temporary platforms, removing components for extra clearance, and constantly reworking the plan as new problems appear. What started as a carefully thought-out approach quickly turns into real-time problem solving, improvisation, and a few moments where everything feels a little too close for comfort. Thanks to a mix of preparation, patience, and some great advice from viewers, we eventually find a way to make it work — but not without a few tense moments along the way. If you enjoy honest boat builds, real problem solving, and seeing how things actually get done when plans fall apart, you’re in the right place. Thanks for watching — and as always, thanks for being part of the journey. 00:00 - Getting the diesel from the ground to the cockpit 01:18 - Protecting the Boat Before the Engine Moves 02:55 - Building a Rolling Platform in a Tight Space 04:19 - Gaining Clearance (Removing the Alternator) 07:07 - The I-Beam Problem 09:30 - Improvising Without a Trolley 13:06 - Inching the Engine Over the Cockpit Sill 15:49 - Rolling Across the Bridge Deck 17:57 - Viewer Advice Changes the Plan 19:30 - What Comes Next 20:22 - Closing

In this stage of the build, a major milestone is reached as all the temporary structural supports and moulds are released. With the main beams now in place and local stiffening completed where needed, the wet deck and hulls have been bonded together as a strong, solid platform. It’s the first moment where she really starts to look like a boat as you move around her. Looking down from above, the interior layout is beginning to reveal itself too. At this point it can feel a little untidy, an unavoidable and familiar phase in the build process, but the structure is doing exactly what it should, the form is emerging, and everything released just as it should. The yard is packed this December, and while we’re well protected from the recent run of strong gales, the relentless West Country rain has taken its toll. With flooding across the region, the ground is decidedly soggy, as you’ll see in the background. Still, progress continues, and we’re very much looking ahead to the next phases, when everything starts to come together for real.
