In this video I finally finish installing the new hatches, take a look at a condensation issue and end up tearing the boat apart. I'm now in the market for a new water tank. A: I travel really cheap, free camping, cooking my own meals, being as efficient as possible. I make my income almost entirely on YouTube but it's really tight. Ad revenue, patreon, paypal donations, merchandise sales and affiliate links bring in about as much as a part time minimum wage job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough I go back to work, doing photography mostly, sometimes commercial video projects, but it takes me away from my travels and videos. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, DJI Mavic Pro, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, DIY tripods and lights. - What is your bike? 1999 Yamaha Vstar XVS1100 with a Champion Escort sidecar. - What kind of boat is that? It's a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 - What're your plans? Fix it up, run nothing but green power, sail off into the sunset. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live on the road with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make some decisions, avoiding places that ban dogs, and spending more time out in nature instead of in the cities. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go separate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? The top perk on my Patreon page is a live link of my location on google maps so you can get an active idea of where I am currently. If that's not an option for you there's also Instagram and Instagram stories that give you a much better idea of what I'm up to today.

In this video, Xmas Day Storm, I come home to find my boat hanging by a wire after a serious winter storm. I also talk about my plans for 2018 and fix my bilge pump. If you like my videos, please SUBSCRIBE to see more, and be sure to give this video a like, Thanks! In August of 2017 I sold everything and moved aboard Balachandra, a 1986 C&C44 sailboat, then sailed it over 300 nautical miles to Halifax Nova Scotia to spend a cold Canadian winter in the frozen waters of the North Atlantic. Sailing Balachandra is my YouTube sailing vlog inspired by other great channels such as Delos and La Vagabonde, which documents the sailing adventures of myself and the occasional crewmembers(s) as we navigate the east coast of North America and beyond. I also dive into lots of DIY boat projects both above and below decks, and share with you all of the pros and cons of living aboard in a cold climate. Sailing Balachandra is published weekly so please subscribe so you don't miss out on future videos! E75 Weekly Vlog of Life in a Nutshell sailing travels. After the big night of 35 knot winds and 10 foot waves the day settles down and we make our way around the headland to calmer waters. We find a lovely surf beach and check out the local village there. Wally, our wind steering system, gets a mini refurbishment. We reach the southern most point of our journey and head north to Alaska! Thank you all for watching and supporting this amazing adventure. We decided that our previous ballast keel mold made of concrete had the possibility of being too dangerous. So we made a new one. Out of wood this time. As we say in the video, we would like to start putting out a short segment in between the longer chapters so that we can put out a video every week. If you are interested in that and have a question, send us a short video with your question and we may feature it in one of the videos. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to support the project, you can do so through our website at http://www.acorntoarabella.com or by becoming a patron of ours through Patreon here http://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella FOLLOW US: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/acorntoarabella/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acorntoarabella Website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com

Fellow boaters - I'm thrilled to share my latest project with you: MaintenanceROS! Crafted from my experiences aboard Starry Horizons, it's designed to simplify vessel and maintenance management, making life on the water even more enjoyable. Explore https://MaintenanceROS.com and enjoy an exclusive 20% discount for the first 6 months using promo code 'outchasingstars'. Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** We saved the best of Tonga's Ha'apai Group for last as we were the only humans around to witness a newborn humpback calf being helped to the surface by it's mother in order to take it's first breaths. This was an amazing instance of being in the right place at the right time, and it's definitely a moment we'll remember forever. I'm also quite proud to share that we managed to successfully fly our big blue spinnaker twice without ripping it while moving between islands. Given our prior history with the sail (3 rips in 6 total deployments), I was ecstatic to even have a little bit of success. Hopefully we'll continue to get better and get a lot more use out of the sail! After all the excitement with whales and sails, the time had come to leave Tonga and sail to Fiji. On our way out, Amy and I both looked at each other and said "I'm so glad we decided to come here this year." The Ha'apai Group is such a pristine, remote collection of islands, so infrequently visited by cruisers and it became a very special place for us. Thanks for watching! Be sure to check out our FB page and blog for more info about where we are now and where we're going: https://www.facebook.com/outchasingstars http://www.outchasingstars.com Thanks for watching! The free sailboat we obtained was in Titusville, FL and we needed to move it as close to home as possible to begin working on it. We had some time off because of Thanksgiving break so we decided to get the boat as ready as possible and set off on the 4-5 day trip through the Intracoastal Waterway, Okeechobee Waterway, and Gulf of Mexico. The diesel engine decided to die half-way through the trip, causing us have to leave the boat in Ft. Myers for a week while it was repaired. Ryan and Kelsey from Abandon Comfort joined us for this last leg of the trip. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not-A-Broker Consulting: https://www.patreon.com/notabrokerconsulting Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/learningthelines/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/learningthelines/ Link to Abandon Comfort: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWEuc8WWF27NgRceefN0CUw ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. For this reason our channel is very DIY focused, with the goal to show anyone watching that a lot is possible if you're not afraid to make some mistakes along the way. Please leave a like and comment if you've enjoyed the video, and subscribe if you haven't already. Our sailing trip in Finnish Archipelago sea continued all the way down to Jumo. That rugged beautiful Island with great endless views. All the hospitality with local products were great, especially that warm smoked salmon that we tried. Also I had to do some maintenance work as the attachment for Autopilot was damaged during the sail. In addition to that, in Berghamn our anchor got stuck in the bottom and when I had to use force to lift it, it bended little bit so I had to fix that also.

Really appreciate the support, check out the Patreon for more access and perks: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon If Patreon isn't your thing, I also have a Paypal.me link: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon I've also created an Amazon Wish List if you'd like to purchase specific items I'll need as the build continues: http://a.co/dx7F4dz I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel to world. I make travel vlogs sharing my ups and downs, adventures on motorbikes, sailboats, and vans. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly?

I'm removing it from the description. It started to leak very badly. I have ordered a Holly regulator ( Holly 12-804 1-4psi regulator: https://goo.gl/Q8wbKr) as a replacement. I'll update again after I've had a chance to review it. -- Franny We have Miss Lemon Drop back in the garage for a fuel pump replacement. You may remember that she pooped out on the way home and Heidi and I got her running again. The owner (Jerry) purchased a new pump “kit” with the pump, rod, spacer, and gaskets. I go through the installation of the pump, and also a check of the fuel pressure. That was a big surprise! At 5psi, it was twice what the carburetor specs. VW says to add a gasket or two to raise the pump and thereby limit the rod throw to lower the pressure. The problem with these aftermarket pumps is that if you go the route, you will have to grind the rod so much to get the pressure down, the flow will be too low to support the needs of the engine at running RPMs. The only real solution is to install a pressure regulator to meet the requirements of the float bowl needle and seat in the carburetor while still maintain adequate flow. We have a Volvo Penta md 2030 and had troubles anytime we ran it over 1700 rpms. Saltwater would mix with our freshwater cooling system, the overflow tank would fill instantly and proceed to flow into the boat. This is a diy troubleshooting process that ends in success! Then we meet a hotttt couple who recently bought a boat and they take us out for a beautiful sunset cruise.

We're back with Gary Fretz for some more expert information. We filmed this before heading north for our refit and wanted to share it as it might help some of you who are looking to buy a boat. When we first started researching buying a boat, I had strongly considered going the DIY route and not getting a buyer's broker. But after researching a bit I changed my mind and I'm really glad I did. This video discusses why having a broker can way outweigh the cost of their commission (which the seller pays) in most cases for larger cruising yachts. Landmarks has made several Landmark buildings in cardboard for use as a cat playhouse. It's a DIY package of precut cardboard parts that fit together as a 3D Puzzle. After our positive experience with the Landmarks White House, we decided to buy the Maya Temple as well. Note, we were not sponsored for this video.

Sailing through the Corinth canal is a must, so being able to do it twice in just a few months was just amazing. Heading back from the Ionian to the Aegean see's us meeting up with friends, exploring the wonderful ruins at Delphi, & enjoying beautiful guitar music in Galixidi. Sometimes there are emergencies that must be dealt with, and in Trizonia a blocked head equates to such an emergency, not a job I will rush to do again sometime soon! This leg of our journey includes a visit to Poros & bow riding dolphins, what more could we ask for! Right in front of the house is a row of perfectly straight Norway spruces. We couldn't help but think about the possibility of them becoming a part of Arabella. Especially considering that Steve's Great Grandfather planted them. What a great story to become a part of our ship! Now, to take it down in one piece and safely... As mentioned in the video, we are looking to put out a new piece every other week where we answer questions people send in, preferably via a short video clip so that we can incorporate that into the segment. If you would like to send us a question, please send a message with the attachment to: acorntoarabella@gmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for the support and if you are looking to do more, please consider becoming a patron at http://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella FOLLOW US: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/acorntoarabella/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acorntoarabella Website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com

They say "There's nothing more expensive than a free boat," but craigslist has some unicorns every now and then. This 1978 Endeavor 32 we picked up has a 2004 Westerbeke 20B Two engine in it with 270 hours, newer rigging, sails, and in-mast furling, new bronze thru-hulls, seacocks, and a recent full bottom job that repaired blisters and applied a barrier coat, and new anti-fouling. How can you get your own free boat? Well, there's no secret to it. Be diligent about checking craigslist every day. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not-A-Broker Consulting: https://www.patreon.com/notabrokerconsulting Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/learningthelines/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/learningthelines/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. In this video, Dead Man's Island, I give you the documented history and sobering facts about Dead Man's Island, Nova Scotia. E72 Weekly Vlog of Life in a Nutshell sailing travels. We check out Isla Saboga, one of the little islands in the Las Perlas archipelago of roughly 200 islands just off Panama City. A lovely beach all to ourselves. We find another deserted beach, along with its own resort swimming pool from a time gone by. Magnus makes a start on fixing the 1970s autopilot whilst Wendy makes preparations for our, found objects, Christmas Tree! We enjoyed the change from land life to sea life. Proceeds from this video will go to the Coral Reef Alliance, but you can also support me directly (and specifically the production of these videos) by becoming a Patron: https://www.patreon.com/theadventuresoftarka Tarka is a 1973 Albin Vega 27 (8.2m) that I bought sight-unseen and without sailing experience on the island of St. Martin in April of 2017. I was thrust head-first into ocean sailing as I got Tarka safely south from what would become the most devastating hurricane seasons on record. We are now working our way west towards the Pacific. I am sailing Tarka around the world to raise money and awareness for coral conservation by supporting the Coral Reef Alliance. You can learn more here: http://www.theadventuresoftarka.com/fundraiser or visit their website directly: http://www.coral.org If you make a donation to their website directly in Tarka's honor, please send me an e-mail copy of your receipt so I can keep track of Tarka's fundraising. You can forward to: theadventuresoftarka@gmail.com Additional support for Tarka’s sail for CORAL has come from: Soylent - Providing easy and healthy provisioning for long offshore passages Sta Lok - Providing swageless terminals for portions of Tarka’s rigging, making it a DIY job and allowing for easy inspection

Hi Everyone, The cold Idle on our 1986 Porsche 3.2 Carrera has been getting worse so I wanted to get into that and see if we could get that sorted. The idle is fine when warm, but the car could run smoother, but cold it is lobey and rough. There are several bits to the Motronic fuel injection system, but only a few that are specific to cold starts. In this video I run you through my journey to find our offending part. Have been using this Echo 58v Powerhead for a month now, compared to the Ryobi it is a far better piece of equipment. I will continue to do updates, the biggest issue with the Ryobi was the battery, I hope to not have that issue here. Music by Dixxy (https://soundcloud.com/dixxy-2) Really appreciate the support, check out the Patreon for more access and perks: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon If Patreon isn't your thing, I also have a Paypal.me link: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon I've also created an Amazon Wish List if you'd like to purchase specific items I'll need as the build continues: http://a.co/dx7F4dz I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel to world.

In this video, my son had an issue with his JL amp turning on, I remounted the JL Marine M/600 amplifier that only had 2 screws in it, now there are 4. I then make sure the bass holes go through the seat holes. The bass holes are powered by a 10-inch pioneer champion subwoofer that I got for $40. and then tuned down to 30 Hz. The box it is in is temporarily made out of very cheap wood $10, did not blow a lot of money on something that may not work. Last week we shared Victorias trip home with us. Now we'd like to show you what she's got to offer. She a veritable treasure trove! We go through some of the bronze that we have already acquired and take you on a tour of what Victoria still has attached to her as well as go over some of her structural issues. We hope you enjoy! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to help support the project you can make a contribution through our website, http://www.acorntoarabella.com or you can consider becoming one of our patrons on Patreon (http://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella).
