Welcome to another episode of Sailing and Electronics. In this video we are going to show the use of a fume extractor for soldering, and why it is a good idea for your health. Especially when soldering alot, eg. battery packs for a powerwall. The item used is a Chinese copy, but since the simplicity of such a device, I'm confident in my choice. If you like DIY, it is very easy to make one yourself. All you need is a powerfull pc fan and a carbon filter. Hope you enjoy the video. Don't forget to like or subscribe !

I make travel vlogs sharing my ups and downs, adventures on motorbikes, sailboats, and vans. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly? A: I travel really cheap, free camping, cooking my own meals, being as efficient as possible. I make my income almost entirely on YouTube but it's really tight. Ad revenue, patreon, paypal donations, merchandise sales and affiliate links bring in about as much as a part time minimum wage job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough I go back to work, doing photography mostly, sometimes commercial video projects, but it takes me away from my travels and videos. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, DJI Mavic Pro, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, DIY tripods and lights. - What is your bike? 1999 Yamaha Vstar XVS1100 with a Champion Escort sidecar. - What kind of boat is that? It's a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 - What're your plans? Fix it up, run nothing but green power, sail off into the sunset. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live on the road with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make some decisions, avoiding places that ban dogs, and spending more time out in nature instead of in the cities. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go separate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? The top perk on my Patreon page is a live link of my location on google maps so you can get an active idea of where I am currently. If that's not an option for you there's also Instagram and Instagram stories that give you a much better idea of what I'm up to today.

We finally poured it! Watching 100 gallons of molten lead drop into a wooden mold is not something you experience every day. In this video we focused more on the pour itself and not on the details of our setup. We will go into that in our next video. If you enjoyed this episode and would like to contribute to the project, you can do so via our website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com or by becoming at patron on Patreon http://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. In this week's video, Boat VS Snow, I get my first significant snowfall on board, introduce a new crew member and we show you how to make a stove-top potato parsnip dish called "Rogues Roots" designed for cooking underway over long passages. If you like my videos, please SUBSCRIBE to see more, and be sure to give this video a like, Thanks! In August of 2017 I sold everything and moved aboard Balachandra, a 1986 C&C44 sailboat, then sailed it over 300 nautical miles to Halifax Nova Scotia to spend a cold Canadian winter in the frozen waters of the North Atlantic. Sailing Balachandra is my YouTube sailing vlog inspired by other great channels such as Delos and La Vagabonde, which documents the sailing adventures of myself and the occasional crewmembers(s) as we navigate the east coast of North America and beyond. I also dive into lots of DIY boat projects both above and below decks, and share with you all of the pros and cons of living aboard in a cold climate. Sailing Balachandra is published weekly so please subscribe so you don't miss out on future videos! Meet up in the middle of the ocean of course! We couldn't pass up the opportunity to hang out with our good friends Lewis and Alyssa from s/v Quixotic as you never know when or where your paths might cross again. Quixotic was set adrift as we all gathered on Starry Horizons for drinks and snacks. Fortunately, no one commandeered Quixotic in the meantime and we all ended up with an awesome story to tell! I suppose I'm getting ahead of myself though, as before we could meet up with Lewis and Alyssa, we had to clear into Fiji and run lots of errands. We (finally!) managed to pick up new battens for our mainsail and took a quick flight to Suva in order to complete all the requirements for our Australian long stay visas. Gotta finish work before play right??? Thanks for watching! (Footage from August 2017) For anyone in the Brisbane/Gold Coast area, we'd love to have you come join us on February 10th! Check out all the event details here: https://www.facebook.com/events/551954931826822/ If you're interested in checking out Fiji, you should definitely look in to Quixotic Charters. Lewis and Alyssa are amazing hosts and know all the stunning hidden spots of Fiji. Not only that, but they have their own YouTube channel (Ride The Trades) as well where you can see some of their Fijian adventures and lots of the work they've done on Quixotic: https://www.quixoticcharters.com/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTACOp9-bRcPJoN4JiU5lkw And last (but definitely not least!) you should totally check out Amy's article on the whales of Tonga in this month's issue of Cruising World. After lending a hand on Lucidity, it was time to sell Somnium. Initially Taylor reached out to us via email after binge-watching all of our episodes. (Sidenote: I want to make a shirt that says "Learning the Lines - At the end of the rabbit hole where you want to be."). He fell in love with the idea of finishing Somnium and explained in his email that he wanted to buy her from us. After meeting for a beer and trying to talk Taylor out of buying Somnium... I just couldn't convince him otherwise. He was still interested and wanted to see her in person. That weekend I showed Somnium to him and showed him the good, the bad, and the ugly. His mind was made up. I knew Taylor was a grad student and didn't have a crazy amount of cash. I also knew that we grossly overpaid when we initially bought Somnium. We ended up spending around $10,000 on her after buying the new engine. We also added around $10,000 worth of new equipment and work, mostly paid for by sponsorships, but it was still value nonetheless. Knowing all this, we offered the boat to Taylor for $3,000. In a way we wanted to pay our good fortune forward to him, and in a way we also wanted to help someone else out with a dream. I know we "lost money" on Somnium. We get that. But it's all part of the cost of education in our minds. We earned invaluable knowledge and experience in exchange for the money we "lost." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not-A-Broker Consulting: https://www.patreon.com/notabrokerconsulting Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/learningthelines/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/learningthelines/ Link to Abandon Comfort: https://www.youtube.com/user/Dtrickyy ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. For this reason our channel is very DIY focused, with the goal to show anyone watching that a lot is possible if you're not afraid to make some mistakes along the way. Our sailing trip in Finnish Archipelago sea continued all the way down to Jumo. That rugged beautiful Island with great endless views. All the hospitality with local products were great, especially that warm smoked salmon that we tried. Also I had to do some maintenance work as the attachment for Autopilot was damaged during the sail. In addition to that, in Berghamn our anchor got stuck in the bottom and when I had to use force to lift it, it bended little bit so I had to fix that also.

In anticipation of pouring our 9500 lbs lead keel we have had many questions, comments, suggestions and concerns. Thank you all so much for all of them! We wanted to start a question and answer segment to be able to answer questions in a more thorough and fun manner than comments as well as be able to get videos out to you every week. Here's the first installment. Why are we pouring 9500 lbs of molten lead into a wooden mold? Will it not burn? If you have a question about the project (don't be shy!) we would love to receive a short video of you asking your question so we can feature our awesome community. All you need is a cheap video camera or a smart phone and you can send the video to: acorntoarabella@gmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are interested in supporting the project: http://www.acorntoarabella.com/how-to-help/ or http://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella FOLLOW US: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/acorntoarabella/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acorntoarabella Website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com

Music by Dipod (https://soundcloud.com/dipod) Really appreciate the support, check out the Patreon for more access and perks: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon If Patreon isn't your thing, I also have a Paypal.me link: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon I've also created an Amazon Wish List if you'd like to purchase specific items I'll need as the build continues: http://a.co/dx7F4dz I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel to world.

Here is my review of ARS as a heat and air conditioning installation company and authorized contractor for Home Depot. There was a lot of calls and very cold and very hot nights in my home, but after 4 months they may have got it right. I guess only time will tell, the heater is working now, but I really hope the AC works in the summer on this HVAC system. In this video, Iced In, the bay freezes over, then I face another major winter storm on a jerry rigged dock, and I show you how I use an Android tablet with Navionics for primary navigation. Fellow boaters - I'm thrilled to share my latest project with you: MaintenanceROS! Crafted from my experiences aboard Starry Horizons, it's designed to simplify vessel and maintenance management, making life on the water even more enjoyable. Explore https://MaintenanceROS.com and enjoy an exclusive 20% discount for the first 6 months using promo code 'outchasingstars'. Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** The time had come to finally say goodbye to Tonga (and all the humpback whales!) and set sail to Fiji. Just one problem... We couldn't use our mainsail! We've mentioned it in prior videos, but we lost the battens overboard during a storm in Neiafu after I didn't lash them down properly when the mainsail was off getting repaired. Not one of my better moments, that's for sure. So instead, we found a weather window with plenty of wind and sailed using only our headsails. This worked out better than I expected as it took us less than 3 days to sail the 421nm into Savu Savu. Plus we managed our 3rd spinnaker flight in a row! It barely counts as successful, but without any additional rips, I'll take it! Thanks for watching! Be sure to check out our FB page and blog for more info about where we are now and where we're going: https://www.facebook.com/outchasingstars http://www.outchasingstars.com Thanks for watching!

Waffle maker, not just for breakfast, makes great waffle fries without the grease. All we did was pop some potatoes in the microwave till they were softer so they could be pressed in the waffle maker. We then cut the potatoes into 1-inch slices, lightly salted and stuck them in the waffle maker. We had the waffle maker at the highest setting, but if they are not cooked enough you can either leave them in longer, but if you are making a lot they may get cold so pop them in the oven to crisp up to your heart's desire. Music by Lion, Meet Lizard (https://soundcloud.com/lionmeetlizard) Really appreciate the support, check out the Patreon for more access and perks: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon If Patreon isn't your thing, I also have a Paypal.me link: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon I've also created an Amazon Wish List if you'd like to purchase specific items I'll need as the build continues: http://a.co/dx7F4dz I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel to world.

Neste dia nós agradecemos algumas pessoas que estão nos ajudando nessa empreitada do bote, inclusive um novo apoiador do Apoia.se! Saímos cortando todas as peças traçadas no dia 02, usamos serra "siricutico", serra-copo, sargentos, óculos, máscara, etc. Ah, e também começamos a desgastar as chapas que faremos a junção para poder cortar as laterais do bote!
