Update, just replace clutch slave and master cylinder: https://youtu.be/j4ESmdy9ZZc Jeep clutch would not engage when released so you could let off the clutch with it in gear and the Jeep Wrangler YJ would not move. I have never worked on a manual transmission, but when I went through some basic troubleshooting I was able to get the jeep moving again. If we would have taken it to a shop they were telling me it was $75 just to look at, plus towing it to the shop, and I was looking at $200 to $1000 plus just to fix it. It is good to look at the issue yourself just to narrow it down to help avoid this kind of cost. I make travel vlogs sharing my ups and downs, adventures on motorbikes, sailboats, and vans. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly? A: I travel really cheap, free camping, cooking my own meals, being as efficient as possible. I make my income almost entirely on YouTube but it's really tight. Ad revenue, patreon, paypal donations, merchandise sales and affiliate links bring in about as much as a part time minimum wage job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough I go back to work, doing photography mostly, sometimes commercial video projects, but it takes me away from my travels and videos. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, DJI Mavic Pro, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, DIY tripods and lights. - What is your bike? 1999 Yamaha Vstar XVS1100 with a Champion Escort sidecar. - What kind of boat is that? It's a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 - What're your plans? Fix it up, run nothing but green power, sail off into the sunset. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live on the road with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make some decisions, avoiding places that ban dogs, and spending more time out in nature instead of in the cities. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go separate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? The top perk on my Patreon page is a live link of my location on google maps so you can get an active idea of where I am currently. If that's not an option for you there's also Instagram and Instagram stories that give you a much better idea of what I'm up to today.

After the arduous task of dragging our lead keel out of the ground and onto the cribbing in the boathouse, it was time to start working on flattening both keels in preparation for them to be mated together. See how we set things up in order to do that. Also, we will be at the Maine Boatbuilder's show in Portland ME from March 23rd to 25th and are scheduled to do a talk. If you are in the area please come and check out this great event and meet us in person! Last but definitely not least.... One of our subscriber's girlfriend contacted us and about a special birthday gift for her boyfriend. She got him a Patreon to our channel asked us to wish him a happy birthday in the video. So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Blair Nichols!! But let's see if we can top that and get as many Happy birthday wishes we can pile up for Blair in the comments below! GO! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. Fellow boaters - I'm thrilled to share my latest project with you: MaintenanceROS! Crafted from my experiences aboard Starry Horizons, it's designed to simplify vessel and maintenance management, making life on the water even more enjoyable. Explore https://MaintenanceROS.com and enjoy an exclusive 20% discount for the first 6 months using promo code 'outchasingstars'. Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** You asked, we answered! And man were there a lot of questions! We got questions ranging from finances (not a surprise), to relationships and even what size shoe we'd wear on the moon. We did our best to answer them all, so hopefully there's something in here that you'll find of interest. Since the video came out sooo long, here is a Table of Contents with links to various parts of the video: 0:46 - Finances 11:14 - Personal Safety While Cruising 27:40 - Crew While on Passage 29:30 - Watch Schedule on Passage 34:21 - Environment 39:49 - Medical Preparedness 46:54 - Boat Set Up 57:59 - Spares on Board 01:00:59 - Communications at Sea 01:01:59 - Navigation 01:10:56 - Helia Specific Questions 01:17:02 - Electrical Set Up 01:21:35 - Food Storage and Provisioning 01:24:01 - Sails 01:30:26 - Relationships on a Boat 01:40:59 - Travel Planning 01:45:49 - Places We've Been 01:49:00 - Boats in General 01:55:27 - Misc/Fun Questions (PS: Apparently, I can't put links in the bottom of the video like I thought I could. I tried to do something where possible, but I've also pinned a comment that has all the links in it. If I missed one, please let me know!) We'll definitely do another one of these someday, but in the meantime, keep commenting questions in our videos and we'll try to keep answering them! Cheers! What happens when you get a sailboat for FREE? You spend a lot of money, a lot of time, and do a lot of work! That's the reality of getting a free sailboat. We continue with the start of the refit on our Endeavour 32. Our first goal is to make the boat as water-tight as possible, and the old portlights leak so bad they've made it to priority one. We remove all of our 10 portlights in this video, but not without a fight. Either the original yard or a previous owner (there were many) used an adhesive instead of sealant to bed the portlights, making them almost impossible to remove without damage. Because of this, it doesn't look like we'll be able to refurbish and replace ANY of them, so we're now looking for affordable new portlights to replace them. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not-A-Broker Consulting: https://www.patreon.com/notabrokerconsulting Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/learningthelines/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/learningthelines/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. For this reason our channel is very DIY focused, with the goal to show anyone watching that a lot is possible if you're not afraid to make some mistakes along the way. Please leave a like and comment if you've enjoyed the video, and subscribe if you haven't already.

Checking the engine after changing the raw water impeller and belts. Perfect day sailing outside of Dana Point Harbor. We saw a couple of whales about 2-3 miles offshore.

What needs to change to make America awesome again, parents, you can do better. I am not saying there are not great parents out there, or I have never made a mistake as a parent, but we have to stop thinking that someone else will teach your child. I don't take a village to raise a child like Hillary Clinton said, just a lot of grit from good parents. IT IS STILL SO WINDY!!! This is day 3 of being anchored at Highborne Cay waiting out 25-30 mph winds. We are getting a tiny bit "Stir-Crazy" being on the boat for so long and decided that we would take the dinghy to the beach! We had a fantastic time walking the beach and moving our legs a bit. Later that same day we took the time to investigate the cause for oil being in the bilge and did a few other engine maintenance projects while we were at it. In this video we fix a transmission fluid leak and change out the zinks on our westerbeke engine. We also filmed changing the fuel filters on our westerbeke engine, but will posting that in a separate video in the next couple of days. Randall explains the process and gives some good tips/info that will hopefully help if you are ever in a similar situation. **NOW SOLD** Launched in 2003, ‘Windfall’ is an Elan 31 now exclusively listed with the team at Yoti. http://www.yoti.com.au/listing/elan-31-windfall In Windfall, we have a fun, comfortable, quick, well built 31 footer to suit both the inner racer and family cruiser in all of us. This Elan really does cover both bases; she’s responsive and exciting to sail while having a good sized cockpit and very comfortable interior for entertaining guests and staying on board. Windfall was designed by Rob Humphreys and built by Elan Yachts and has very recently (Feb 2018) undergone a serious maintenance program which includes slipping incorporating wet rub and hull acid wash, anti-foul, Propspeed applied to the 2 blade folding propeller, machine wash and hand polish to topsides, full engine and saildrive service and a full interior and exterior detail. Her accommodation comprises of 2 double cabins. One being in the forepeak and the second on the port side behind the L-shaped galley. She has a generous, fully enclosed head with shower and Jabsco manual flush toilet with holding tank, and the saloon table folds out on both sides to provide a comfortable space for the crew to dine. Windfall is helmed from the tiller which comes with a spinlock extension arm and with the furling headsail, Windfall can be sailed one up. The teak lined cockpit incorporates the main traveller which is great for racing as gives much more control of the fully battened main which is housed in the boom bag with lazy jacks. For full details and to arfrange inspection on Pittwater, please contact info@yoti.com.au (02) 9979 4043

We just broke 24000 subscribers and reached our Patreon goal of $1200 per video so we thought we would talk a bit about our expenses and how we are affording to do this project. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Proceeds from this video will go to the Coral Reef Alliance, but you can also support me directly (and specifically the production of these videos) by becoming a Patron: https://www.patreon.com/theadventuresoftarka Tarka is a 1973 Albin Vega 27 (8.2m) that I bought sight-unseen and without sailing experience on the island of St. Martin in April of 2017. I was thrust head-first into ocean sailing as I got Tarka safely south from what would become the most devastating hurricane seasons on record. We are now working our way west towards the Pacific. I am sailing Tarka around the world to raise money and awareness for coral conservation by supporting the Coral Reef Alliance. You can learn more here: http://www.theadventuresoftarka.com/fundraiser or visit their website directly: http://www.coral.org If you make a donation to their website directly in Tarka's honor, please send me an e-mail copy of your receipt so I can keep track of Tarka's fundraising. You can forward to: theadventuresoftarka@gmail.com Additional support for Tarka’s sail for CORAL has come from: Soylent - Providing easy and healthy provisioning for long offshore passages Sta Lok - Providing swageless terminals for portions of Tarka’s rigging, making it a DIY job and allowing for easy inspection

E84 Vlog of Life in a Nutshell sailing travels. We head into shore to begin the process of checking out of Costa Rica. We find iguanas on tucked away in the trees on the beach at Playa Panama. After much toing and froing we finally manage to check out and head off on the long trip up to Mexico. Big seas and strong winds! We find a Yorkshire ale, Riggwelter and Magnus does a beer review. Thank you all for watching and supporting this amazing adventure. Music by Tiny Elephant (https://soundcloud.com/tinyeleph4nt) Really appreciate the support, check out the Patreon for more access and perks: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon If Patreon isn't your thing, I also have a Paypal.me link: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon I've also created an Amazon Wish List if you'd like to purchase specific items I'll need as the build continues: http://a.co/dx7F4dz I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel to world.

Guys, I talked about how the markets were coming back last night after having a few beers, thought I would recap that video the next day sober. The stock has been moving in a good direction this week after the slight course correction the experienced during the government shutdown. If you sold while the market was down you lost money, but if you bought during this downturn you leveraged this event to your benefit. I did hedge my funds into less risky investment when I felt the needle was moving in the wrong direction, but I am all in for high-risk growth now. ***** We weren't quite done yet sailing around Vanua Balavu's Inner Lagoon. After the Oyster Rally cleared out, we sailed over to a beautiful spot called Bavatu Harbour. We had it all to ourselves and found a nice hike up to a stunning lookout back over the Bay of Islands. It was absolutely magical, even if we did have to endure a rain shower to enjoy the view. Back on Starry Horizons, we continued around east side of the Inner Lagoon to an island called Susui. There we got two special treats. First, the chief allowed us to film the entire sevu sevu ceremony! And second, our friends Lewis and Alyssa from s/v Quixotic managed to sail in just in time for us to hang out once more! It was the perfect way to wrap up our time in Vanua Balavu. Next stop: Fulanga! Thanks for watching! (Footage from September 2017) We've still got a long ways to go on our Tour Around Australia and we're hoping to meet up!

It took us about three days to move the keel out of the ground and into the boathouse. No easy task moving an object that heavy. It's great to know that we now have our keel and it is sitting where it needs to be in the boathouse. Next we'll need to fair it, flatten and shape the wood keel and then we can start bolting things together. Paying forward the shoutout we received from Ruth and Garett at Salt and Tar (check out their channel if you haven't already), we'd like to mention another channel that we appreciate. Building Brupeg. They are refitting their 57ft steel boat for polar expeditions! Check them out and give them a sub if you like what you see. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCq9WQmB1GqfhPKkKFvFkY4A/featured One more thing, the music in the middle of this video was sent to us by one of our viewer Nate Akers and is called First Spring Day. E82 Weekly Vlog of Life in a Nutshell sailing travels. We encounter horrific gale force winds of 38 knots (yes, I checked in my sailing book) so we head for Bahia Bellina for the night. We sample a local pizza and attempt, yet again, to upload a vlog without success! Peanut’s engine gets an overhaul after she leaves us high and (not so) dry on the way back to Nutshell in the dark. Another dash for a safe haven, Bahia Potrero, gets us out of the wild and woolly ocean papagya winds. We finally arrive at the little town of Playas del Cocos, check it out and find a real brewery and sample a few of the local ales, delicious! Thanks for watching and for joining us on this world adventure. In this video, Stuck Sea Cocks, I discover some stuck sea cocks on board and decide to replace a nasty section of old raw water plumbing in the forward head. If you like my videos, please SUBSCRIBE to see more, and be sure to give this video a like, Thanks! In August of 2017 I sold everything and moved aboard Balachandra, a 1986 C&C44 sailboat, then sailed it over 300 nautical miles to Halifax Nova Scotia to spend a cold Canadian winter in the frozen waters of the North Atlantic. Sailing Balachandra is my YouTube sailing vlog inspired by other great channels such as Delos and La Vagabonde, which documents the sailing adventures of myself and the occasional crewmembers(s) as we navigate the east coast of North America and beyond. I also dive into lots of DIY boat projects both above and below decks, and share with you all of the pros and cons of living aboard in a cold climate. Sailing Balachandra is published weekly so please subscribe so you don't miss out on future videos! E81 Vlog of Life in a Nutshell sailing travels. Magnus tackles the never ending boat jobs and gets more of them ticked off the list. We check out the little town of Jimenez and have our first breakfast out. The beautiful booby birds visit us on the boat. We eventually arrive at Quepos and check out the town. Thank you all for watching and supporting this amazing adventure.
