How to install a body lift most of the time is not that hard. Most of the time the hardest part is breaking the bolts loose on the factory mounts. We are actually dropping our body down from a 3 to one inch, we know that sounds weird to a few, A body lift does stretch components between the frame and the body, also it will add extra space between your bumpers and leave a visible gap people can see when looking at your ride. When doing your install, you have to watch out for clearances like the fan or shifters. Nothing like starting your car for the first time after the install and the engine fan eating your fan shroud, and you can't shift. With a 1-inch body lift or less, not likely to have any issues, but when you go high, expect to move stuff to make it work again. #boatrepairs #grancanaria #atlanticcrossingpreparation #canaryislands #brexit We wait in Gran Canaria for a lot of things including Brexit so we can retain our VAT status on our boat as well as visas for Suriname. We also find ourselves waiting for mechanics to help us with our boat repairs from injector service to alternator checks. While waiting we explore bits of the island and also do quite a bit of maintenance ourselves .... why does it never end ? In this episode we also celebrate Christmas and New Year and really hope that 2021 will be better and brighter than this year ! Hello! As we continue our sailboat restoration, we are looking for ideas as to how to install our windlass. You have been watching our sailboat refit projects for Reverie our 1985 Pearson 34 sailboat. Reverie did not come with a Windlass and we want to install one, but we have some challenges. The anchor locker on Reverie is kind of on the way so it makes it hard to do maintenance on the bow of the boat below decks. So we are struggling with what to do..... - do we seal the hatch on the bow anchor locker and install a windlass..... - do we partially remove the anchor locker and install the windlass inside but open it up to have access to the bow for maintenance.... - should we install a manual windlass or an electric windlass? What have been your experience with these? We would like to request your input!! If you could please share with us pictures, videos, write-ups hand drawings or anything on how you solve this problem we would really appreciate it. Specially if you have done this on a Pearson 34. Thank you for your help!

Getting Victoria early in the project was one of the best decisions we have made. There was so much good material packed in that little vessel, and it seems like she just keeps giving every day. From all the beautiful mahogany in her interior, to the bronze fittings and hardware she was decked out in. And now, one more thing—her mast. Victoria was a cutter, so she had one mast. It came to us taller and of a bigger diameter than Arabella's mizzen mast is designed to be, so with that in mind, and after assessing its condition, it turns out that after some modifications, it'll be well worth using as our mizzen. This meant turning down and truing this 7-inch diameter stick to 6 inches. Not an easy task, and it takes us to a fun little experiment along the way. Thank you for watching and supporting. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Sailing to the joint Dutch-French island of St. Maarten (St. Martin) where we stayed for 1 month, doing maintenance, attending a multihull regatta, exploring and trying kite-foiling. After our short stay in St. Barts, s/v Cloudy Bay (Hallberg-Rassy 54) set sail to St. Maarten. First anchoring in Simpson Bay then moving into the inner lagoon for perfect shelter, easy access to shore and all the marine services that St. Maarten is famous for. While Oana took a 3-week break and flew back home to visit family, Glen did a lot of maintenance, including fixing the vang and gooseneck at FKG Rigging, having the fridges vacuumed, canvas work, adding stowage to the bilge and lots more. In between jobs there was some exciting racing on a 60ft Rapido trimaran in the St. Maarten multihull regatta. Later, taking Cloudy for a test sail, we passed several famous super yachts: The A, Obramavich’s Eclipse, David Getta’s Rising Sun and Steve Jobs’ Venus. Cloudy Bay was then re-anchored on the French side of the island in Marigot Bay. On Oana’s return we toured the island in our usual fashion, but in general found it very run down and uninspiring, especially the French side, which still looked like the hurricane hit it just yesterday. Finally, before we departed, we took the ferry over to the island of Saba … but that’s another video. 28 January – 26 February 2019

We get a warning of an intense storm coming our way from the wide open. We quickly release more chain and hope for the best. Waves break over the bow as we ride out 60 knots wind without an engine as a backup. April has been a crazy month bringing terrifying storms after storms while at anchor in New Providence Island. I've never seen a lightning show like the one that rolled in. We even dinghy over to Goulding Cay where we experience world-class snorkeling with sharks and amongst tall coral heads. If you like what you see don't forget to give us the thumbs up! #sailing #lightningstorm #newprovidence ***************************************** Help the videos stay alive by becoming a patron, donating or becoming a YouTube Member. We are installing a brand new engine on our boat, but to have it working properly we have some jobs to be done, such as installing a new exhaust system. This is the second video about our exhaust system. If you haven't watched the first one check it out: https://youtu.be/ImLiYlLdlO0 We’re Duca and Roberta, a Brazilian couple that have bought a 44ft steel sailboat (Dinieper Tropic 1200, designed by Joubert and Nivelt) that was abandoned on the hard for 22 years in Guarujá, Brazil. In this install and review of the Skar RP-800.1DM Marine Amplifier we show the features of this amp, and really put it through some rough testing conditions. In all our videos we don't just turn it on and say it is great, we run things for weeks to months before we create a review. This amp has been off-road, running a 1 ohm for quite a few trail parties, and has worked with no issues. After the install was complete, can say that skar is very conservative on their power rating, this amp rocks. We shortly found that with the amps gain all the way up we had to use the subsonic filter so as to not to smoke the coils in our Skar SVR 10-inch Subwoofer. When looking at amps for our SVR 10 we are glad we when with the 800 wat RMS and not the 1.500 watt RMS Skar amp, this amp isn't like the other overrated amps you see on Amazon. In this video, Cuba for Cruisers, HELP, We Don't Speak Spanish! we leave Santiago de Cuba with our traveller fully functional again and continue along the South coast of Cuba, headed for the Garden of the Queen Archipeligo and stopping a few times along the way. We have a few brushes with the La Guarda Harbour Masters and discover how bad our Spanish is but soon learn how to make arrangements to anchor the boat overnight to rest. We visit the beautiful island of Cabo Blanco and trade some shoes and soap for a huge King Makarel! #sailingchannel #cruisingcuba #learnspanish If you like our videos and want to see more/better videos, more often you can become a patreon supporter: https://www.patreon.com/sailingbalachandra If you haven't yet SUBSCRIBED and want to see more please click the SUBSCRIBE button above, and be sure to give this video a like! All of our sailboat repair and maintenance blogs are now hosted on our dedicated maintenance channel, MOTHERSHIP MAINTENANCE Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/c/mothershipmaintenance. Follow the link to this video here: https://youtu.be/fm9wnwzHPII Sailboat repair and maintenance blogs are now hosted on our dedicated maintenance channel, MOTHERSHIP MAINTENANCE: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqQh0D5F_gZsF4mw-Qw-XJA The Injectors on our Volvo Penta TMD 22 had never been checked since we bought the boat in 2017, over 2000 engine hours ago. In that time a small leak had developed in injector three so as we were in the Canary Islands preparing to cross the Atlantic, we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to get them removed and checked. I had never changed diesel injectors before so called in a local mechanic, but filmed, asked questions and took notes so I could put together this ‘How to’ blog so I could do it for myself next time. Injector three had poor clearance but as the spray was functioning fine, we reinstalled all the injectors with new washers and gaskets and after some problems with return lines and compression loss, we got them up and running again with a note to replace them all next in out 1500-2000 hours, which coincidently falls more or less the same time as the next timing belt change. Even though Puerto de Las Palmas Marina in Gran Canaria is a relatively cheap marina, the mechanic’s rate was €50/hour which was the most we’ve paid for a mechanic anywhere in Europe, but we were grateful that Jorge from Man Diesel Services for kindly letting us film him and to Augustine the OCC port officer for arranging it. Although these videos show maintenance work on a TMD22 marine diesel engine, many components and assembly techniques are similar across the Volvo Penta range, including: MD22L; MD22P; MD22L-B; MD22P-B; TMD22-B; TMD22P-C; TAMD22P-B; HS25A; HS25A-B; 120S-E; MS2A-E; MS2L-E; MS2B-L; TMD22B PLEASE NOTE: YouTube have disabled comments on most of our video blogs (and on other family channels) due to safeguarding issues regarding minors on the YouTube platform. Log 8 | In this one we find a surprise inside the base of our Sailboat mast and we install a tri-color navigation light on the masthead. Oddly, Sea Pearl was not already equipped with a tri-color light and/or the correct wiring.. so like usual, we decided to give it a go ourselves. 📷Follow along on Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/sv.seapearl 📖Children's Book by Paige, "I Love The Ocean & Counting: Learn to Count with Sea Life": https://amzn.to/2Rycwez *Products mentioned in this video: - ATN Mast climber: https://atninc.com/atn-mastclimber-sailing-equipment.shtml - Aqua Signal Series 34 Tri-Color/Anchor Mast Mount Led Light: https://www.hodgesmarine.com/aqs34706-7-aqua-signal-series-34-tricoloranchor-mast-moun.html *Song Credit: 02:50 music for people - Friday The 23rd __________________________________________________________ #sailboat #sailing #sailboatrefit #liveaboards #buyaboat #oceantravel #sailingcouple #diy #boatprojects #fulltimetravel

With the main mast step finished, it's time to make the mizzen mast step. This one is significantly smaller as it will hold a significantly smaller mast and take less of a load. It feels like we're installing a sculpture as integral part of the boat! It's very satisfying to be making beautiful things that then come together into a working final product. We also get started on another very exciting project which will be coming up in more videos soon. Many of the re-sawn offcuts from the planking material have been sitting in the shop waiting to be used. Now is their time to shine! Thank you for watching this week, and as always, for the support. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are interesting in supporting/helping here are a few ways: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/how-to-help Jamestown Distributors Referral If you are going to shop at Jamestown Distributors, please consider using our Total Boat referral code: http://totalboat.refr.cc/steveandalixa?t=tg Recurring support via Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Original Soundtrack available at benfundis.bandcamp.com FOLLOW US: Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/acorntoarabella/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acorntoarabella Website: http://www.acorntoarabella.com
Being full time live aboard cruisers spending most of our time at anchor we rely on our outboard engine completely. Our petrol engine was not only unreliable, it was noisy, heavy and meant we had to store petrol on board which I don't like doing. So the search was on for the best electric engine money could buy and extensive research pointed to ePropulsion. They've had very good reviews and now have a new version of their Spirit range, the 1.0 Evo which is a 3bhp equivalent engine that can be charged by mains, 12v and solar and also can generate it's own power to charge the battery when towed. With no fuel costs and virtually no maintenance, it's direct drive brushless motors promise a eco friendly and whisper quiet ride, for an affordable price. Too good to be true? We find out... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you're interested in looking at ePropulsion engines here's a link to their website: https://www.epropulsion.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=influencer&utm_content=sailing-fair-isle --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PATREON: There is a way to see the current videos with no adds at all before they get released to the public by becoming an honorary member of crew and joining our Patreon group. Gotta love those days when sailing is easy! You can read, cook up a storm in the galley or simply take a nap. After waking up in a new location we set sail from the Exumas to Nassau and try fishing in the Tongue of the Ocean. Unfortunately with the Bahamas restrictions due to the pandemic and or dead engine it is time to make our way back to the USA while using our weather window. Filmed end of April 2020 If you like what you see don't forget to give us the thumbs up! #sailing #sailingbahamas #sailinglife ***************************************** Help the videos stay alive by becoming a patron, donating or becoming a YouTube Member. Never underestimate DIY! Repairing the steering of our dinghy with a weird object. And our anchor is doing it's job so good, that we need to dig it out!
How we installed the Rough Country 4-Inch Suspension Lift Kit with Shocks on the rear of our jeep. Since there are no steering components on the rear suspension so the installations was a breeze! We did have a few human errors during the install, but we hope you learn from our mistakes and your Rough Country 4-inch lift kit install good much quicker. The one thing I like about the 4-inch Rough Country lift kit is that you don't need a longer driveshaft or a slip yoke eliminator. With the angeled shims on the leaf spring pointing the pinion more toward the transfer case and the one-inch drop installed on the transfer case, we are good. If you want to see how we dropped our transfer case you can either go to the link below or wait until we release the full video for the installation of this lift. The Rough Country 4-inch Suspension Lift Kit includes leaf springs, bump stops, drop brake line relocation brackets, track bar drop brackets, sway bar links, N2 shock absorbers, a power steering pitman arm, and a transfer case. This kit allows you to upgrade your vehicle with larger tires without cutting or trimming the fenders. Function. The leaf spring is double tapered and has Teflon pad inserts. It offers articulation for smooth on- and off-road performance. The tubular transfer case drop included in this Jeep Wrangler YJ suspension lift kit efficiently maintains correct driveshaft angles for a wobble-free ride. The N2 shock absorbers ensure smooth highway drive and better performance on irregular terrain. Application. (the content here was filmed pre COVID-19) Proceeds from this video will be donated to the Coral Reef Alliance. Donations can also be made directly by visiting their website: http://www.coral.org Tarka is a 1973 Albin Vega 27 (8.2m) that I bought sight-unseen and without sailing experience on the island of St. Martin in April of 2017. I was thrust head-first into ocean sailing as I got Tarka safely south from what would become the most devastating hurricane seasons on record. We are now working our way west towards the Pacific. Additional support for Tarka’s sail for CORAL (The Coral Reef Alliance) comes from contributions by: Soylent - Healthy provisioning for the long offshore passages Sta Lok - Swage-less terminals for portions of Tarka’s rigging, making it an easy DIY job and allowing for easy inspection Victron Energy - Providing monitoring solutions for Tarka's batteries, to ensure we always have enough juice to do what we need to. === Music credits: Dance With Me – Ehrling: https://soundcloud.com/ehrling

City Sailing History of the Millwall Dock, now the home of the Docklands Sailing and Watersports Centre. After sailing and teaching on the Millwall dock for years and skippering the recycled plastic vessel Poly Mer on the Millwall dock I decided to look into its past history. Sailors on the dock have asked me how deep is the dock and even if it is a water feature for the housing around it. This is not the case!!! The dock was built to unload vessels and for vessel maintenance and was not originally connected to the rest of the West India Docks System until it was taken over by the Port of London Authority in 1908. The Millwall dock has had a variety of famous guests, the Endeavour, Cutty Sark, Lawhill, James Bond, Sir Ben Ainsley, and Kate Middleton to name a few. The dock was pumped out in a slurry across the road in a pipe to where the allotments are in a Mud Chute hence the station name. The name came from the seven windmills that were on the western raised edge wall of the River Thames - Millwall. It had a Flour Mill built and a football team with three grounds over the years on the Isle of Dogs before they moved out. Today the Millwall Dock is enjoyed by walkers and for watersports from the Docklands Sailing and Watersports Centre www.dswc.org where you can sail and see adults as well as children sailing all year round. Long may it continue. Paul - www.citysailing.com

If you own a sailboat with a centerboard but have never taken interest in learning how the centerboard connects to your boat, this video is going to change your mind! To learn more about our refit projects, please subscribe to our channel. On this episode we show you how the centerboard is attached to the keel on our 1985 Pearson 34 CB sailboat. It turns out that is a good thing we decided to check it as we were working on the refit, what we found will surprise you. It should also serve as a warning to those of you looking to purchase a CB boat. Check whether the Centerboard Pivot Pin and the Centerboard Pendant have ever been serviced or replaced. If they have not and the boat is an older sailboat, that may be the first piece of maintenance you do when you pull it out of the water. At the end there is a special thank you to Ollo Clip. I am not sponsored by them, but they have been watching the videos and when I broke my clip they sent me a replacement. I have been recording all of these refit videos using my XMax Iphone with an Ollo Clip Lens. Simple and cost effective. There is a coupon below that will give you a 10% discount if you are interested in getting one. Thank you for watching and enjoy the video!
