As we start cruising the Florida ICW we really get worried that we messed up our Yanmar rebuild. Why are we going so slow? We then find the culprit which is costing us almost 2 knots of speed and a reduced RPM. The free trick to a faster sailboat. Join us as we finally start cruising and leave our anchorage in New Smyrna Beach and head North. If you like what you see don't forget to give us the thumbs up! We're really close to selling our house. Karen has been hanging baskets and doing some battery water filling. We had a hitchhiker that we can't identify. Help. Exercising was on our maintenance list also. Went out, wind died, decided to have some wine and reflect on nautical terms. Thank you subscribers! You make it happen. #SailboatRepair #AmelSailboat #InMastFurler #BoatDIY #YachtRepair #BoatFix #amelyacht #boating #boatrepair #boatmaintenance #furler #inmastfurler #Simplybearings #Qualitybearingsonline Sailing the coast of Spain a crunching sound started from the manual furler. We dropped anchor and what started as a quick investigation turned into a 2 week maintenance stopover! I detached the mainsail electric furler to get to the manual furler but was concerned the mainsail foil would drop and bring the entire sail with it. So I tied a couple of knots around the foil just under the sail and lashed them over the whisker poles to hold in place (probably a bit overkill in retrospect). Once it was open, it was clear there was something wrong but I couldn't quite separate the bearings from the shaft. In the end I took it to a machine shop to dismantle. Even then they only partly managed it and had to remove the inner race of the seized bearings. The grease had sunk to the bottom of the gearbox and completely dried the top bearing. So when we started the new season it was running dry and the old bearing just crumbled to dust. I tried to get in contact with Amel for a repair kit or some guidance but due to the Covid situation, no-one was in the office, so I basically had to work out a repair kit for the whole thing on my own. Fortunately, there was good resources on the Amel forum from people who'd done it before and eventually I managed to come up with a service kit and sourced the various parts like o-rings, bearings and oil seals from 2 companies in the uk. Luckily, we had some expat friends living not too far away so I used them as. a delivery address. While waiting for the parts I cleaned the gearbox casing and then noticed that the bolt that attaches the foil to the furler had created a bit of a groove in the foil so I reinforced it with polyester resin and a plastic tube (Note: this didn't hold and a year later I had to remove the section and reinforce it with aluminium tubing and more robust polyester resin - see related maintenance blog) Finally the bearings, the o-rings and the oil seals arrived from the UK. I actually ordered duplicates from 2 separate companies and both orders arrived within days. They're worth a mention because they were brilliant: https://simplybearings.co.uk/ https://www.qualitybearingsonline.com I had to source the grease for the gearbox locally - which was easier said than done! So then I just needed to put it together, which again was easier said than done. Using a cut off oar, a piece of driftwood, a rubber mallet and some ingenuity, I managed to put the new parts in place and the gearbox back together. *The repair to the aluminium extruded foil in this maintenance blog failed about a year later and was repaired using a more robust method. We worked hard in our 20's and 30's and built a company that has an amazing team managing it and allows us to work remotely and take time to enjoy this time with our fmaily. Delayed with pleasure and learning about rig inspections on Catamarans. Crossing oceans is not a human right, it costs money. If you cant afford maintenance and running costs you should not do it. Safety is important and rig inspection is a big part of the safety aspect. I have said you can cross oceans in almost anything. I still stand behind this however it should be classed for all oceans and in good condition. I could buy a bigger yacht but would not be able to keep up with running costs. So my point in this video is to show you the importance of rig inspection no matter if your boat is new or old. Big or small. There is no such a thing as my boat is built the old fashion strong way. Any boat no matters the year it built, brand, or makes it still requires maintenance and rig inspection. I'm sorry to be so brutally honest but it's the truth. I also show you some daily stuff as normal and having waffles and taco with my friend Hanna. I'm delayed with my own rigging but there is good news! Links to participators and contributors to this video: https://www.caraibe-marine.fr/en/caraibe-greement https://www.sailingnohma.com/ Thank you for watching and hope you enjoy this video! You can also follow sailing with Thomas on other platforms for almost daily updated pics and videos: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sailingwiththomas Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sailingwiththomas T-Shirts and stuff: https://sailingwiththomascom.wpcomstaging.com/shop/#!/ ABOUT THIS CHANNEL: I'm trying to sail solo around the world in my Bavaria 55 Cruiser, making videos whenever I have time for it. Most of the time I sail singlehanded but occasionally I do have sailing friends onboard. Still in the Caribbean due to Covid and was supposed to be in Asia by now. Even though this is season 3 on youtube I have already sailed 4 seasons full time but did not make that many videos in the beginning. Before full-time sailing, I have sailed several seasons in the Med prior to this, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I have been traveling the world before and also been an active regatta sailor. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and been sailing ever since. PLEASE BE KIND IN THE COMMENTS! I'm just a normal person sharing my travel adventure through my eyes and experience from my perspective! Remember how I do things might work for me but not for you. It might even not be the correct way to do things, and I don't have the blueprint either. I'm not perfect and nobody is. The day I believe I know it all and don't think I can learn new things I should go ashore.

• Fırdöndünün bir diğer görevi, çapanın baş makaraya doğru yerine gelirken ters dönmesine engel olup, yerine düzgün ve rahat yerleşmesini sağlar. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbGrnMRkzYdgdxLVKroa9vys https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbHftguUvrkFSjNkjFL0hCJl https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbHXtj78EaasYMD6PLReS0Jm https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbEb5TkeyXqg3Cot2v2w7KEB https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbEDV7fLjDGvTcwzgYDyaCmn 👩🏻‍✈️👨🏻‍✈️ Sosyal Medya📱 İnstagram: eleven11sailing Facebook: eleven11sailing Youtube: Eleven11 Sailing Apple & Spotify Podcast: Eleven11 Sailing / Götür Beni Denizlere #demirleme #çapaatma #demiratma #alarga #alargadadurma #kaloma #kalomaverme #denizcilik #yanaşma #güvenligeceleme #koydakalmak #koydademirlemek #amatördenizci #adb #amatördenizcibilgileri #demirci #kaptan #hanse #hanse455 #hanse458 #hanseyachts #koy #denizdeyaşam #eğlence #eğitim #yelkenli #sailing #tekne #sailinglife #boatshow #sailinglife #yaztatili #göcekkoyları #denizifilmleri #yelkenlifilmleri #yelkenli #deniz #mavi #eleven #elevensailing #tekne #eleven11 #sailingeleven #koy #gocek #göcek #solo #solokaptan #hanseyacht #hansetekne #eleven11sailing #bilgi #amatördenizci #solohayat #tuzluhayat #tuzlusu #kadın #kadınkaptan #denizden #denizci #denizcilik #yelkenvideoları #teknedeyiz #turkuaz #açıkdeniz #kişiselblog #sailing #sailingkanalı #koylar #hanse #hanse455 #hanse460 #hanse458 #hanse510 #boat #yelkendünyası #yatdünyası #yatçılık #adb #adbehliyet #kmt #gezi #seyahat #geziyorum #türkiyekoyları #türkiyem #ülkemingüzellikleri #yelkenli_tekne #tatil #ege #akdeniz #tekgövde #monohull #adyk #amatördenizciyiz

How to flush old brake fluid, purge air from brake lines, because we change a busted brake hose caused by the tire. If you are running larger tires on your Truck, SUV, Jeep, or whatever your drive there is more stress on the brakes. Well, all our cars are lifted and stopping is very important to us! Tools And Parts Used: Front Right Brake Hose for Jeep YJ Wrangler: https://amzn.to/3f6EF5G Milwaukee 18-Volt Drill and Impact Driver Kit: https://amzn.to/366BwxM Husky Mechanics Tool Set: https://amzn.to/3kuGUzD We are doing this because when I installed the 4-inch lift on this jeep, I didn't make sure the brake hose cleared the tire when turning. So in this video, we go over how to replace the brake hose, that connects the brake slave cylinder to the brake line. Then we purge all the brake fluid out of the master cylinder and all the brake lines. Finally, we purge the air out of the brake lines making sure our jeep will stop without having a mushy brake pedal. So glad that we looked at the brakes and put our big bumper on this jeep, not just a week later it was involved in an accident when going 50 MPH. If our son's brakes had been soft or the brake line had failed, this wreck could have been so much worse. Just goes to show it is never too early to check that your ride's brakes are working as well as possible. I made good progress this week but I'm struggling a lot with stuff being back-ordered, stuck in shipping, or the wrong stuff showing up. Join me aboard Athena as I install Athena's new windlass, attempt to install the new high output alternator, and make a new pulpit with Martin. *** Links *** Sail Life on Patreon: http://bit.ly/SailLifeOnPatreon Sail Life on Facebook: http://bit.ly/SailLifeOnFacebook Sail Life on Twitter: http://bit.ly/SailLifeOnTwitter

DIVING in to Great Keppel, GREAT BARRIER REEF on a BOAT - Ep 105 You can support the creative process in making artistic content (hopefully that's the category these videos fall into) and keeping us afloat here: https://www.patreon.com/CruisingKiwis We have sailed north once more, along the Queensland coast, to a little gem of an Island on the Great Barrier Reef, Great Keppel Island. Great Keppel gives the much more renowned Whitsunday islands a run for their money. It boasts beautiful white sandy beaches, numerous walking paths and some excellent scuba diving sites. It was a blessing to have our baptism in to scuba diving here. The coral and sea life was second to none. We even heard humpback whale song while we were diving then, from the comfort of Javelot, watched these magnificent creatures taking it in turns to breach as they made their way down the coast. If you are visiting the Queensland Coast then we recommend Great Keppel Island as a place to visit. Any contribution will be helping produce videos (which take between 30 to 50 hours a week to make) and support on going boat maintenance. Regardless, we are stoked if you take the time to watch our journey. Even better if you take the time to 'like', 'comment' or 'share' (or all of the above) our YouTube videos. These are free things that help us enormously. Thank you! Rob, Rachel, Finn, Declan, Ivan https://www.patreon.com/CruisingKiwis BACK STORY In 1997, after rowing at the Atlanta Olympics, Rob decided to row a tiny seven-metre plywood boat, 2500 miles from Tenerife in the Canary Islands to Barbados in the Caribbean. It took 6 weeks and he and his rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, won the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. His first taste of a blue water ocean crossing. Skip forward to 2014 and, married with three children, Rob and Rachel purchased Javelot a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Rob's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, we set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know our boat before heading offshore with the kids, Finn 18, Declan 16 and Ivan 13, in tow. Through trial and error, we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. Our plan? To sail around the world. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we will re trace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Kerry and two friends were attacked by a Khmer Rouge gun boat, captured, tortured and executed. www.brothernumberone.co.nz ***** Follow us in real time on Instagram and Facebook @thecruisingkiwis @finn_hamill @declan_hamill @ivanhamill #NeverStopWanderingNeverStopWondering. #TheCruisingKiwis

In this video, Repatriation of an American Citizen Stuck in CUBA, we leave Havana Cuba for Key West Florida, taking along Tom, an American citizen who was accidentally stuck in Cuba due to an emergency at sea. With the aid of the United States Coast Guard, Homeland Security, and the American Embassy in Havana we were able to take Tom back accross the Gulf Stream with us, North to Florida. Along the way we catch our first Mahi Mahi, and have a small bird hitch a ride with us. Finally back in the United States we take a quick tour of Key West before setting sail for the Mainland of Florida, stopping in Marathon and Key Biscayne before heading back out into the Gulf Stream once again heading for Jacksonville Florida. #havanacuba #gulfstreamcrossing #sailingchannel If you like our videos and want to see more/better videos, more often you can become a patreon supporter: https://www.patreon.com/sailingbalachandra If you haven't yet SUBSCRIBED and want to see more please click the SUBSCRIBE button above, and be sure to give this video a like! The planking work is moving right along, but unfortunately Jack and Wes have to head home. We discuss the work that we got done as a team, then focus on the mizzen mast, which is also nearing completion. Alix has been working on spot repairs with graving pieces, as well as shaping the base of the mast, which passes belowdecks. Since it will also pass in front of the engine, an area with a few parts that require regular maintenance, the common practice of tapering serves two purposes: it will be easier to step and it will give us a bit of extra room where we need it. Although you can taper the mast any which way you like, we'd like it to be visually appealing as it will be prominent in the interior. And, since the mast is secured at both the partner and at the mast step, the base of the mast belowdecks acts mostly as a compression post, and does not need the same amount of material as it does up abovedecks. Thank you very much for your support, and as we mentioned in the video, we did restructure our Patreon page, and we welcome you to have a look. We are now offering access to monthly Question and Answer sessions we're calling "Live from the Boat Shed", and we have an archive of previous ones. To date, that's 6 hours of extra content. The moment of truth has arrived along with the most stressful and exciting day! Was the $697 Yanmar 2GM rebuild worth it, will it start? We spent over a month at anchor in the ICW at New Smyrna Beach and undertook our biggest challenge yet in sailboat maintenance. Rebuilding a diesel engine. With a cracked piston and so many more things broken or in need of TLC it was quite the learning process. If you like what you see don't forget to give us the thumbs up! #Whalemark5 #boatinglife #bilgepumpservice #boatdiy #sailboat #boatlife #boating #boatpump #boatrepair #boatmaintenance #bilgepump #hendersonpump #whalepump Our Henderson/Whale Mk5 bilge pump in the bilge of our Amel, was making strange noises and taking a long time to suck the water from the bilge. It was sucking a lot of air too and would go off at strange times. So i suspect the non-return valve wasn't working because the water that was collecting in the pipe was then draining back down and causing it to trigger again. All in all, it wasn't a good sign so I took it apart to take a look at what was going on. Access was tricky as it was bolted onto the bulkhead and the motor actually covered the bolts. When it was opened EVERYTHING seemed to be broken - the diaphragm, the inlet valve, the outlet valve and even the screw holes were worn out so just about everything had to be replaced from the service pack. But while we were there we also took the opportunity to clean the bilge, check the float switch and the copper bonding wire too, so a lot of maintenance got ticked off that day! If you're a professional, expert or even an old salty sea dog with some good advice on servicing bilge pumps on sailboats, then please leave any constructive criticism, insight and advice in the comments below the videos. Episode #188 - UP WITH THE STICK Hello Friends, The time has FINALLY arrived to step the NEW MAST ! This turned out to be a MUCH bigger feat than lowering our old mast with the same process. The new mast is likely twice heavier and so much more is at stake. I hope to NEVER have to do this again with our mast. Next time we will use a crane. I would say its a perfectly suitable method of raising and lowering mast that isn't super loaded up with halyards, double spreaders, radar, masthead equipment and all of the weight of the wiring that comes with it. A very stressful experience for me but it all went off perfectly. If you enjoy our channel please "Like" the videos and Subscribe so you don't miss any future episodes. So after two weeks of bad and unpredictable weather, hospital appointments, random work and other issues I manage to get back into things. It's been a busy two weeks elsewhere but I've hit some milestones with the boat. Mainly it is level and on new blocks. Water is draining as it should and I can now really see what needs attention. I've also done some shopping and got my first batch of materials to start actually adding things back to the boat! I'm reassessing what I should be doing first but rather than rushing into the chain locker I'm now thinking a new hatch and seal the cockpit floor. Also with the resin I have I can seal some pesky holes in the deck where I removed fittings ... This all depends on how English weather treats me! Happy watching ! Repairs begin as we got the jeep back from paint, till having suspension issues and a few electrical problems. Hi-Tech Collision did the bodywork, replaced the window, and pulled the frame down a little on the driver's side. They did an awesome job and fairly split up the work so we could do the repairs to the aftermarket pieces ourselves. Tools And Parts Used: Milwaukee 18-Volt Drill and Impact Driver Kit: https://amzn.to/366BwxM Husky Mechanics Tool Set: https://amzn.to/3kuGUzD As soon as we got our jeep home, that night our son welded the shock back on and got the leaf spring installed. We also discovered that the lights on the light bar don't work, should be a simple fix, but it just one more thing we have to deal with. We also have to figure out if we can repair the tire or do we need to replace the tires. It would probably look funny to replace one tire, and it would cause a little extra stress on the 4x4 drivetrain because the new tire would be slightly higher. Future videos for this sill be the rest of the repairs and how to work with insurance companies and what to expect. We hope you like this video and join us as we continue to work and improve the content we release. It's been a few months since putting out our last video - the result of a bit of Covid depression mixed with the fact that the boat has been a very busy place over the past few months, with 19 foster kittens moving through the boat since early January!! It's been awesome but time consuming and very distracting from the importance of boat work and creating videos.😉 Now that it's May, and the beginning of winter here in South Africa, we are bracing ourselves for winter. We made it through last winter, thinking for sure, that it would be our last in SA, but with Covid - here we still sit.☹ With winter on the West coast - comes the cold fronts from across the Atlantic!! So there will be periods of crazy wind, rain and cold. A question in the forefront of our minds has been [Will our mooring hold up!!!!] Being permanently on a mooring ball now and no longer in the relative safety of a marina, mooring ball safety has been forefront in our minds. Saldanha Bay Yacht Club has a really good bi-annual mooring inspection program which is great and puts our minds at ease. Whilst nothing ensures total safety, this has made us more confident that we will hold up ok in the coming months. Over the past few months, we were lucky enough to see new mooring systems being made up and placed in the bay, as well as get to see the actual maintenance process carried out. We figured this would make for an interesting video topic as so many sailors, world wide, rely on entrusting their boat homes to the safety of mooring balls/buoys. We will show what makes up the mooring system, and have some underwater footage of the maintenance of hugely overgrown lines. Even with the biannual maintenance program, the maintenance company says that they have seen a vast increase in growth on the lines over the past year and even different types of growth, so as we know already, marine conditions are ever changing and if these safety checks and maintenance are not carried out regularly, we really will be at the mercy of the elements when these crazy storms or squalls blow through. We realise that the ultimate responsibly is for all sailors to dive on their moorings themselves, to further ensure that they are in good condition, but it is reassuring to know that this program is in place here at Saldanha Bay Yacht Club. As I mentioned before - we have had a boat load😉 of kittens pass through our boat home. Around Christmas I realised our souls needed some animal therapy, so approached to Langebaan Animal Care about fostering - obviously on a yacht this was going to be difficult and safety would be a huge concern. I was totally upfront about the fact that we were on a yacht, gave them some info on my previous animal rescue work and just put it out there that we could foster some kittens if they needed help. I figured that with kittens, they are small and litter box train from a very young age. initially I thought we'd only foster through the bottle feeding stage and then they could move on to land foster homes when they started moving around more. Well, after the first litter came through we were hooked and put a safety system in place to ensure that they were always safe and unable to get out of the yacht at any time and we have been able to keep almost all of them until they were 8 weeks old. At 8 weeks they are advertised through Langebaan Animal Care, home checks are done and they have all been successfully homed. I'm a bit of a pushy foster mom😜and have managed to stay in touch with a few of the families that took my kittens. Its just so great to see them developing and happy. At the time this video goes out, we only have 2 little gingers left about to go to their new homes and we have decided to take a break from fostering for a while. Apart from the fact that it is now getting really cold on the yacht, we also need to get back to applying ourselves to boat work fulltime again.

With a complete RV solar system you can run most of your electrical, totally off grid. I knew NOTHING about RV solar - not even RV solar basics - when we bought our vandalized RV. I didn't know a watt from a volt from an amp. Even after watching a bunch or RV solar 101 videos, I was still clueless and had so many questions that I couldn't find the answers to. You'll have the same questions. I'll give you some answers. There is nothing intuitive about RV solar and if you do things wrong it can be dangerous. You need the right RV solar parts for an RV solar install, including an MPPT solar charge controller (we went with the Epever); RV batteries, preferably lithium iron phosphate rv batteries; rv solar panels; an rv inverter; a solar batter charger aka power converter; a bunch of wires and connectors and a whole lot of patience! RV life is fun - we made all of the RV solar mistakes - including almost destroying our batteries and frying our brand new RV generator. RV electrical is no joke. I hope this video - showing our trials and the eventual outcome of our DIY solar system - will make RV solar simplified - simple rv solar setup. 🟢🟢🟢 Check this out!! 1500 Insanely awesome places to stay with your RV for just $75 a year! Dear Skin Cancer Get Off Our Sailboat Ep 104 You can support the creative process in making artistic content (hopefully that's the category these videos fall into) and keeping us afloat here: https://www.patreon.com/CruisingKiwis What do you do when you are sailing the world but you need to see a doctor about a potential skin cancer? Rob has a dodgy looking mole that he's been told he needs to get removed so he made an appointment with the first GP he found in the phone book. However, on the way to that appointment we ran past a skin care clinic. Even though the clinic was closed for the day for renovations the Doctor in charge took pity on us. She opened her surgery just for Rob but then found she had two patients to treat on her day off. Music Voyageur - All I wanted Luna Keller -I don't know where I'm going Voyageur - All I wanted instrumental After a long and drawn out process taking nearly three years filled with doubt and anxiety about whether or not to take the plunge we have set up a Patreon page for creators of artistic content here: https://www.patreon.com/CruisingKiwis Due to travel restrictions our income has been massively compromised to the point where we either drop the anchor for the last time or, reluctantly, we seek financial support to continue our creative process. Should you choose to support our journey please know that we are very grateful and hope that the rewards meet your expectations.

Leaving Gulf Harbour, we sail to Rakino Island, Waiheke, and Chamberlain's Bay. We hope you enjoy it! As always, thanks for watching. After a few years of studying and working hard we decided it was time to make a change. We needed a change that would allow us to spend more time together, give us a better work/life balance, and the freedom to travel. While we still had time on our side, we wanted to use it to live rather than use it to chase money. Learning to sail was the answer. In December 2021 we moved onboard Te Tāiko, a Chico40, and since then we have been so fortunate to explore many of New Zealand’s pest free islands and its beautiful anchorages. With our love of travel and adventure, this lifestyle has enabled us to experience so much more than we could ever have imagined. From new experiences to meeting incredible people along the way, our life has been enriched in so many ways and makes us ever so more appreciative of our environment and the footprint we leave behind. Tāiko is our floating home. She gives us the freedom to go anywhere the wind and weather allows. By living a more minimalistic and sustainable lifestyle, she has provided us with a better work/life balance and has taught us to live and be present more in the moment. Tāiko has also taught us to be more independent and less reliant on services. Some of these experiences have taken us out of our comfort zone many times but as the saying goes, ‘a comfort zone is a wonderful place but nothing grows there’. Our plan is to do blue water cruising. So, over the next year we will be completing some maintenance work on Tāiko and be getting her ready to meet New Zealand’s category 1 requirements to be able to go offshore. In the meantime, follow along with us as we navigate this new lifestyle whilst sharpening our skills exploring New Zealand waters. #boatlife #boat #travelvlog #digitalnomad #lifestyle #sailing #travel

Jack and Wes are back to do more work on Arabella. Wes's earlier visits involved stacking lumber and bending frames. Now he's back for a taste of planking and we hope he returns to help out with the interior. Jack was a part of our planking crew last year, specifically helping with some of the cedar planks, many of which have been removed. Now he's back for another shot and working with the oak, which has been much more forgiving for us to get onto the boat. This week, you get to look over everyone's shoulders as work progresses in the boathouse. Thank you for watching! See you next Friday. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. She's 47 and very cranky but what other problems lurk beneath that silver paint job? In this episode we try to get the old girl of a Mercedes OM636 engine back up and running and Nadiyana makes a start on the HUGE task of getting the windows sorted. The OM636 has a good reputation as a solid engine, they're used in boats, agricultural machines and trucks worldwide. It's 42 HP with good torque, but this one is certainly in need of some TLC, this looks like it could take some time. See the servicing, repair and wintering video blog of our 15HP 2 Stroke here: https://youtu.be/A2rdFDGL5ao The reasons we went for this particular outboard was it was very light (13.5 kilograms), which makes it easier to get on and off the boat. It's also easy to maintain, there's no impeller to change and it's only got one cylinder. It's air cooled as well which means there's no raw water cooling system to deal with, it's very fuel efficient and has an integral fuel tank. The other reason we went for this particular model is because we thought it would be easy for the kids to handle because it's small and easy to manoeuvre. So in this video, I give it a full service and winterise it. I take apart the carburettor and give it a good internal clean and change the engine and gearbox oils. If you're a professional, expert or even an old salty sea dog with some good advice on servicing outboards, then please leave any constructive criticism, insight and advice in the comments below the videos. This is a continuation of our boat maintenance and disaster prevention series. But it starts with some great footage we took skiing moguls and trees at Winter Park Resort Ski Area at our home location of Winter Park, Colorado. Once that's done, we move to a flaw I found that will need work coming up, plus rewire the sub-panel for our Fischer Panda generator. Genset upgrades continue when we have a local machinist (Oswin from Haven's Marine in Sint Maarten) rebuild our exhaust gas separator unit. I also relocate out high water alarm, as that was something that was on the short list of improvements.

In this video we take apart our Yanmar 2GM pre-combustion chamber. We had a cracked piston so we learnt a little trick to remove a stuck pre combustion chamber when there's tons of carbon. We show what the assembly looks like with all the different parts and gaskets. We also clean up our fuel injectors. If you like what you see don't forget to give us the thumbs up! #sailing #yanmar2gm #yanmartroubleshooting Want to know the whole Yanmar 2GM rebuild process? ▶ https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8DtHTsrVzG-zALIEvQBcIRNkOD1pVdvM ***************************************** Help the videos stay alive by becoming a patron, donating or becoming a YouTube Member. This is NOT a DIY or HOW TO refit rigging video. BE FREE is too big and requires professionals and professional tools for this enormous job replacing everything from top to toe. Only original parts from SELDEN are used in this process and replaced by experienced professionals. My job is just to observe and pay for this. The entire cost will be shared in refitting video part II. Once the mast is down I'm also replacing antennas and instruments. Also replacing old anchor light with updated multi-color/function light. By impulse, it changes from anchor to 3 color or even strobe. And during the weekend not musch is going on so I invited Hanna over for dinner. I'm only sharing my adventure and the true reality of sailing around the world. BE FREE is nine years now and the hardware is at the end of its lifetime. No matter what brand or type you have rigging should be replaced every 10 years as a minimum. There are lots of myths out there like «My yacht is so strong and good old school build, so it lasts forever!» I'm sorry to break this myth and tell you this is not true. Bronze fittings do not last more than 10 years either, and even though the surface may look nice and shiny it's what you don't see that's the problem. I have not only lost one mast but two times. Both times during race close to shore but rules are the same it only needs more frequent replacements. You might think I'm crazy to do this on such a new yacht. So here are my arguments: As a solo sailor, I need everything to be in top condition for safety and comfort. When rigging is 9 years it's at its end of life time and I have sailed 20K miles. Replacing this in the Pacific would not only be a risky project but most likely more expensive. The next stop would be New Zealand. Thank you for watching and hope you enjoy this video!

How to improve your sailing with WindTrak vane When sailing to windward knowing the angel of a[[errant wind is important. I just installed a WindTrak from Davis Interments. I am confident that this will help improve by sailing. 😊 NOTE: it is a good idea to silicone adhesive or epoxy on the threads…this prevents the parts from vibrating loose during the life of the WindTrak. https://www.davisinstruments.com/product_documents/marine/manuals/3150_IM_WindTrk15-asmbly.PDF https://www.davisinstruments.com/marine/ https://amzn.to/3bdeHeG 0:00 start 01:37 Intro 02:09 In the box 03:24 Assembly 07:23 How it works 08:16 The installation on the mast #chesapeakebay #sailingchesapeakebay #diysailboat #livingonboardsailboat #cookingonboat #cookingsmallspace #livingonboardsailboat #sailingadventures #sailingterms #sailinglife #lessismore #boatinglifestyle #livingonboard #lessismore #minimisation #minimalist #coastalcruising #svepicurean #vagabondepicurean #sailingchesapeakebay #windtrak #davisinstruments #windvane #windidacator #sailingadventures #diysailboat
