EP 203: This is definitely our favorite Caribbean island.. After our night anchored in St Lucia and meeting some awesome patreons, we head off to the beautiful French Island of Martinique. Wow is it all we expected and more. Cheap cheese, bread and wine... bliss. Apart from the language barrier we experience often luckily for Ricky's Portuguese (some words are similar) they do sometimes understand what he's saying so thank goodness for that. What a neat island, everything is readily available from boat parts to really reasonably priced groceries. We could have luxuries aboard again like Camembert cheese, or yogurt... MY FAVORITE. We even found 2 Euro Pizzas... So far.. this island definitely is our favorite island in the Caribbean Thanks for watching! Don't forget to hit that subscribe button and leave us a comment below. Life in PERFECT harmony sailing Western Australia Ep 144 This is our second trip to the Abrolhos Islands. We love them for their history, their marine life and their wind, which between September and May is plentiful. What better way to get in day after day of kiting than in these low lying islands whose protection delivers 20 to 30 knots of wind with little to no swell. We were also blown away (did you see what I did there?) by the abundance of friendly seals and an incredible lagoon with a huge wall of sea anemones repleat with hundreds of our favorite fish, The clown fish. What's not to love. And Rob gets handy jimmying up a quick fix to our burst hot water pipe. Thank you for helping keep us afloat and supporting the creative process. It took six weeks for Rob and rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, to complete winning the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. Skip forward to 2014 and, married with three children, Rob and his wife Rachel purchased Javelot, a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Rob's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, We set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know their boat before heading offshore with the kids, Finn (then 13), Declan (then 11) and Ivan (then 8), in tow. Through trial and error we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. The plan? To sail around the world. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we hope to retrace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Kerry and two friends were attacked by a Khmer Rouge gun boat, captured, tortured and executed. www.brothernumberone.co.nz ***** Follow us in real time on Instagram and Facebook @thecruisingkiwis @finn_hamill @declan_hamill @ivanhamill #TheCruisingKiwis

We love boat shows! As a matter of fact, we haven't missed a Miami Boat Show since we started attending in 2009. A few years ago, the venue was moved from Bayside to Miami Marine Stadium. It wasn't ideal for sailors since we had to walk past nine docks of power boats and their crowds just to get to the sail boats. And forget the tents! We had one aisle in one tent dedicated to us. This year was better. We were routed to a bay near the arena and we didn't have to share. It was all about the sailor! We saw some of the newest catamarans on the market including quick reviews on Ocean Renegade catamaran and HH50. We chatted with vendors about rolling furlers and turning blocks, and best of all - we got to meet lots of YouTube fans. It warms our hearts to know that so many of you are enjoying our videos. We originally put them out as our diary, and as a way for our friends and families to see what we're doing. But most of them don't watch. Luckily for us, lots of you do! And we love meeting every one of you! So thank you for watching. And most of all, thank you for thinking that we do a good job. We really appreciate it. A special thanks to: Leopard Catamarans for making such awesome boats. https://www.leopardcatamarans.com Just Catamarans for calling us right back when we try to reach you on a Sunday at 5:00, (because that's when everything seems to break.) https://justcatamarans.net And, as always, we love you Randy and Lennie Smith from SV Happy Together and Michelle Ropriza from the Catamaran Brokerage. http://svhappytogether.com https://catamaranbrokerage.com

Newport is known, and for good reason, as the sailing mecca, which is why we visited and gave it a full review and rating. There are things you need to know if you are sailing there like you need to be on high alert when sailing into the town, as you are constantly dodging boats out for a day sail. It’s quite challenging and not for the novice sailor. Finding a place to anchor in summer can also be a challenge, but there are ample mooring balls and marinas. Plan ahead. We had a great time visiting Brown’s High School friend, Jim and his family. They live in a (currently renovating) historic home once owned by John Banister, in a perfect area of town. You can walk to the wharf, but you can also walk to the grocery store and tennis hall of fame. They literally showed us the town by bike, taking us to the colonial and guilded age parts of Newport. We saw much more of the mansions from the ocean side by taking the cliff walk out and back. As cruisers, you want for nothing. Whatever parts or you service you need, you can find in Newport. Be ready to pay a premium though. We hope you enjoy the video. #sailing #sailboat #sailingprojects #NEWPORT #RHODEISLAND #LONGISLANDSOUND #JOHNBANISTER #MANSIONS #cliffwalk NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? If you wish to support our video efforts, all we ask is that you SUBSCRIBE, give a THUMBS UP, SHARE our videos with your friends, AND COMMENT! WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET TO KNOW US MORE DEEPLY? We try to dive the anchor at every stop, especially if we're in a crowded anchorage or expecting high winds. This week Katy and I travel down the Chesapeake Bay from Solomons Island, MD to Deltaville, VA. It is the second leg of our journey towards Norfolk, VA. We sail downwind and against current... our first experience sailing with steep waves. Wow, the Chesapeake really delivered! We get scared of the wave height that builds as the tides shift, but manage to laugh our way through. Our first hours in San Blas, Panama begins with a rousing sail in steep waves and 20 knots of stiff breeze. We’re racing friends on @svdelos & @ParlayRevival from one gorgeous island to the next and at the downwind angle we’ve got our code zero poled out to maximize the wind. Racing these big boys is quite the challenge given their size but we’re up for the fun any day! Bill is in his glory powered up in the giant swell and is quite happy to spend his first day in this island paradise doing what he loves most. Once anchored we’re visited by the local indigenous people, the Kuna, who sell us a couple of beautifully sewn, handmade, intricate crafts. The people govern their land - the San Blas - independently of Panama and their culture is fascinating. We’re happy to interact with this family of mother, daughter & son, who’ve come by on their boat to visit us, so early on in our San Blas adventure. Bill then works on making the fix to the windless remote more permanent using one of Grace’s small tupperwares. He epoxy’s it closed to seal it and hopes it lasts longer than the ones made for sale which are not designed to withstand the harsh salt water environment. 0:00 Intro 1:09 Back on the move 1:35 Recap 2:21 Racing with Delos & Parlay Revival 7:14 Another Beautfiful Tropical Island 8:25 The Kuna People 11:03 Building a windless remote from scrap parts 12:24 Checking out the island from up the mast 13:40 San Blas Season Preview -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Enjoying our channel?
