A conversation with Mark the Rigger in Oriental, North Carolina. Mark replaced all of the standing rigging on our Westsail 42 Paragon. He also helped us to install a new bowsprit, step the mast, tune the rig, rebuild all our winches, and much much more before we pushed off on our 6000 nautical mile voyage from North Carolina to Iceland.
The WIDER 165' superyacht is an evolution of her smaller sister, the 150'. Ein Schnupperkurs ist oft der Beginn der (Katamaran-) Segelkarriere. Bei "Shorty-Wetterbedingungen" und frischem Wind geht's mit dem Hobie Cat hinaus auf den Peenestrom und nach Usedom. Aus Mitsegeln wird beim ersten Ausflug ins Trapez ein spannendes (Erfolgs-) Erlebnis.

"Kurz" vorm Ansegeln 2014 noch ein paar Bilder und Video-Impressionen vom Absegeln 2013: Freunde und Gäste des Wassersport- Camp am Peenestrom trafen sich zum letzten "offiziellen" Ausflug nach Usedom. Topcat, Contender und die Hobies wurden flott gemacht und los ging es. Nach einem schönen und feuchten Segeltag trafen sich abends alle am Feuer zum Feuertopf und heißen Getränken auf der Terrasse.
Nach eingehender Prüfung von Wetterlage, Segelbekleidung und Sportgerät war klar: es gibt noch ein Leben nach dem Absegeln... Zumindest, wenn der Oktober noch so schöne Tage hat. Der Segeltag begann bei traumhaften Wetter mit dem Hobie Cat auf dem Peenestrom - der Wind hat sogar noch fürs Trapez gereicht - und endete abends mit Apres-Sail auf der Terrasse vom Wassersport- Camp am Peenestrom.

Most of my recreation involves surfing, paddling, kiting, or working out. It is tough sometimes living aboard such a small boat but if you have basic amenities like a gimbaled stove and a sink with faucet it works. The solar panel is also key!
