Cette boucle autour de la planète part et arrive à Barcelone (Espagne). Il s'agit d'un défi sportif extrême et d'une aventure océanique qui mettent les limites humaines à l'épreuve. Organisée par la Fondation Barcelonaise pour la Voile Océanique (FNOB), la régate fait partie du championnat du monde IMOCA Ocean Masters. Le départ de la course sera donné le 31 décembre 2014 à 13h00, avec une ligne de départ mouillée en face du W Barcelona hotel devant le port de la ville. Les premiers concurrents sont attendus à la fin du mois de mars 2015. Les bateaux parcourent 23 000 milles nautiques lors d'une circumnavigation de Barcelone à Barcelone, en laissant les caps de Bonne Espérance (Afrique du Sud), Leeuwin (Australie) et Horn (Chili) à bâbord (leur gauche) et l'Antarctique à tribord (leur droite). Pendant les trois mois de course, les skippers tracent leurs routes au milieu de 12 zones climatiques et traversent trois océans, en plus d'une navigation dans la mer Méditerranée. Les équipages naviguent sur des IMOCA 60 de 18,28 mètres de long. Leurs mâts peuvent atteindre une hauteur maximum de 29 mètres, soit la hauteur d'un immeuble de dix étages.

The second half of the head systems upgrade was replacing 3 thru hulls, valves and elbows, plus a new toilet. Because I was so busy working on other areas of the boat during my time on the hard, I hired someone to do this second par of the upgrade. This week, the Race Village in Itajaí, Brazil is in full swing! Abu Dhabi sailor Adil is back with his teammates on an early morning flight. After a mad week for the boatyard its finally time to say goodbye again, for the 6th leg of the race. And as if bad luck was following them, Dongfeng Race Team’s sailors are already fighting the odds with a serious water problem.
