A stand out boat in so many ways, the Contest 52MC is Contest Yacht’s first ever motor boat and a spectacularly successful design. The press can’t get enough of her, loving her looks and her handling which they say astounds, her innovative, half-planing hull riding as though on rails, tracking straight and staying flat right through the tightest of turns. With power options from twin 350hp to 550hp diesels she’s equally comfortable at 8 or 28 knots, and soft rides through the nastiest chop. And she’s a dry boat, her pronounced spray rails cascading the breaking water away. The joint creation of longstanding design partner Georg Nissen, the well know motor boat engineering and designer company Vripack and the yard’s own in-house design team, the 52MC is also an unusually versatile performance platform, available in sedan, open sport and a flybridge version. Interior layouts are customisable, too, building out of a raised saloon and two heads, three sleeping cabin standard plan.

Caribbean cheer Great racing, great Contest… that’s how the 35th Heineken St Maarten Regatta played out in early March with Contest 42CS Beluga scooping an impressive second in class in this world ranking Caribbean racing series. By anyone’s measure a striking result proving the true performance prowess of this really versatile, comfortable and capable fast cruising yacht. Raced annually, the Heineken Regatta draws a big, keen crowd, this year not far short of 200 entries and 2000 sailors with a heady mix from Volvo 60 to Melges 24, and mostly sailing to the Caribbean Sailing Association (CSA) handicap. Beluga sailed in CSA5 in the three day, five race event sailed in pretty boisterous wind and swell, and a good test of a well found boat. “It was so nice to see how everything worked so well,” says Contest Yachts CEO Arjen Conijn who sailed among Beluga’s afterguard, “and she just looked so good!”

Well I have installed DC filters from Boss, not helping enough to justify them. We are going to return them and add a battery to the box, then we are going to remove the amp and sub, to much power draw for the limited gain in bass. We are still going to have RCA out to run the sub, but we are going to use another power source. ATV Technology package upgrade playlist. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list... With our 2 and 9 year old grandkids moving aboard the boat, we had a need to carve out a good bed location for the 2 year old. This is a blog about how we went about doing that including running new outlets as well. See the video about how we did it, as well as the before and after shots. Join us on our journey as we continue to rebuild, refit and prepare our Formosa 51 Sailboat for our continued cruising journey. We have always loved the Formosa, bought one (on a bit of a whim) late in 2014, moved aboard this one right away and started to do our refit while living board. We are avid fans of Cruising Outpost and Good Ole Boat (Good Old Boat) magazines and love the ideas we get from them. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "How to repair a wooden mast, boom, spar or Bulkhead (Step by Step) " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Nxr-yxUjvQ -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Graham Jarvis took 2nd place on the podium at Hell's Gate Italy. Battling his way to the end of a long and demanding day’s racing,Jarvis raced his Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing TE 300 to second overall at the 13th edition of Hell’s Gate Extreme Enduro. Despite this year’s running of Hell’s Gate featuring a much revised and simplified race format to previous years, the event once again proved to be anything but easy. The morning qualifying race ended with Jarvis, taking no risks, placed in fifth. Working his way forward having failed to get away from the start quickly, Graham fought his way from outside the top 10 to fourth in no time at all. Setting an impressive pace, he then moved into second with close to half the race remaining. Yet despite his best efforts, Jarvis was unable to catch leader Wade Young. With the final 30 minutes of the race a torturous test of endurance around a highly-technical Endurocross track, Jarvis secured a deserved runner-up result. Ensuring more success for Husqvarna, teammate Mario Roman overcame an issue with his headlight to secure third. Graham Jarvis: “I didn't make things easy for myself at the start. I was really slow away from the drop of the flag, so I had quite a few riders to pass. There were only two technical areas of the track, so it was hard to make up time. The spectators did a great job helping the riders, but again it made it hard for me to make up any time on Wade. But hats off to Wade, he rode a really good race. I feel like I rode well, so I’m happy with that, and it’s another podium result at Hell’s Gate. Although it was a completely different race than all previous years it was still tough – it was a long day on the bike.

Love it or Hate it... Here is Steve Jobs Yacht "VENUS" as she comes through the Simpson Bay Bridge in St Maarten, SXM, CARIBBEAN... Filmed with my DJI Inspire Drone to capture a full 360* rotation of Yacht "VENUS". Steve Jobs had his own idea in mind when he designed his yacht "VENUS", and everyone who sees her almost always has an instant reaction of total love, or full on hate... all you can say about the design, is it is the first of its kind, and "VENUS" is definitely unique! Unfortunately for Steve Jobs, he passed away before ever getting to see his final masterpiece completed, so never actually got to sail on "VENUS". "VENUS" now lives on in his memory, and serves as a vacation platform for his wife and family. I hope you enjoy the video, and please feel free to share it if you like!
