Yves le Blevec vient d’entrer en hémisphère sud, à 12h 40min 45 s ce dimanche, après moins de 9 jours (8j 19h) de course. Une belle première étape de franchie dans ce défi inédit. Déjà deux difficultés négociées avec succès : le golfe de Gascogne et le pot au noir. Le parcours du tour du monde à la voile le plus connu est celui du Vendée Globe qui part de France (les Sables d’Olonne en Vendée) pour doubler les trois caps : Bonne Espérance, Leuwin, Horn et retour. Yves Le Blevec va partir dans l’autre sens, c’est-à-dire qu’il va commencer par doubler le cap Horn, pour finir par celui de Bonne Espérance. Ainsi, au lieu de naviguer d’ouest en est, dans le même sens que les dépressions (et donc des vents et des vagues qu’elles génèrent), ce parcours « à l’envers » se négocie d’est en ouest, contre vents et courants. Pour que ce parcours soit validé par le WSSRC (World Speed Sailing Record Council), il faut couper tous les méridiens et franchir au moins une fois l’Équateur. This week, we run through a brief checklist of what to consider before setting sail!

While using our Katadyn PowerSurvivor 40 WaterMaker for our FIRST TIME EVER, it began leaking and spraying salt water into the V-berth! It started out working just fine and ran for about 2 hours before it started making a strange squeaky sound. Kenzie went to check on it and found a puddle of salt water in the V-berth and saw that water was being sprayed from the water maker pump body! We shut it off and examined the pump body where it was leaking, but couldn't figure out what could be wrong. Randall called the phone number listed on the user's manual for customer service and was extremely frustrated when the call got sent to voicemail. He had no choice, but to take the BRAND NEW water maker apart to find what was wrong. We were able to get the "spraying" to stop, but it was still seeping water at the seams. After taking it apart a couple of times we were able to stop the leak, but weren't sure if it would be a long term fix or not. We decided to take the gamble and continue on our trip with our fingers crossed that it wouldn't give us any more problems along the way. This centuries-long dispute between the Dalmatian Islands of Brač and Šolta is over the small island of Mrduja that sits in the middle of these two larger islands. Residents of each island have been arguing for hundreds of years about who Mrduja belongs to, which created the idea of a 'tug-of-war' to see who the island belongs to each year! La voile et la mer sont mes passions, vous l'enseigner est mon métier. Après avoir formé des centaines de skippers et matelots j'étais bien fatigué. C'est alors que mes nouveaux propriétaires et l'architecte qui m'a fait naître ont décidé de me donner une nouvelle vie pour que je puisse continuer à accomplir ma mission avec passion et fougue. Après de nombreux mois de chantier dans mon berceau natal breton, j'ai retrouvé toute ma splendeur. Aujourd'hui, plus beau et plus performant que jamais, je frétille d'impatience de retrouver mon élément et mes nouveaux stagiaires. Voilà où j'en suis. Mon capitaine va bientôt m'installer mes nouveaux cordages, mes nouveaux équipements électroniques et un habile maître voilier va me tailler de belles, solides et performantes voiles... Avec tout ça, je serais fin près pour partager avec vous de grandes aventures... Le Rebelle, c'est un voilier construit et pensé pour (r)éveiller votre sens marin ! Bienvenue à Bord :-)
