The northern Red Sea is the resting ground for some of the most historic shipwrecks in the world. This video captures three of them: the Rosalie Moller, Gianis D and the world famous SS Thistlegorm. The SS Thistlegorm was a British steamship that was carrying supplies to British troops in northern Africa. It was bombed by German aircraft and broke in half when she sunk. The stern lies in 105 feet (32 meters) of water. The ship is largely intact except for the actual bomb impact zone. The cargo hold, which you will see in the video, is like swimming into a time capsule. Here you can see Mark II Ben carrier tanks, Bedford trucks, Bren guns, Norton motorcycles and even pairs of Wellington boots if you look carefully. Thanks for watching my video ....

I anchor out front of a small village that was destroyed by an Earthquake. Some locals showed me around the ruins and I saw the clean-up effort going on. A few people lost their lives and there was lots of injuries but it was 3 days after the quake before any help arrived from outside. I felt like a bit of an intruder though so didn't stay very long. Diving in the Gili Islands is always a lot of fun. We dove them for the first time back in February when we stayed on Gili Air. This time, we stayed on Lombok, but the day trips go to the Gilis to dive. We did this for one day before transitioning to muck diving (See Episodes 24 and 26) off of Lombok Island. We dove two different sites, Turtle Heaven (always a fave with newer divers) and Hans Reef (a fave for macro). Between the dives, we were able to spend 1.5 hours for lunch and to off-gas on Gili Air. It was fabulous to be back on the island and to know our way around the place! Of course, we returned to Go Go Shakes - a fave of ours. After the surface interval, we did a second dive and then returned to Lombok. It's only a 25 minute boat ride which is great, but then a 30+ minute van ride back to the Sengiggi area. Lombok-Dive rinses and stores all of your gear so you don't have to carry it back and forth each day. We did enjoy diving with Lombok-Dive. They were really cheap in price, gave us a good deal, and allowed us to dictate where we wanted to dive. The downside, they were 20-30 minutes late picking up every morning, put brand new OWD in our dive group, and were a bit disorganized on the boat for gearing up different dive teams. Other than those issues, they were kind, friendly and helpful. They were a bit pushy when it came to tips...though Herman was always professional and was great PR for that dive group. The boat is constructed of exterior quality plywood, sealed with epooxy and sheathed in glass fibre and epoxy. One of the great beauties of these boats is that the ballast keel is fitted towards the end of the build, enabling the boat to be kept lower in the shed for most of the construction time. Sandflea is sold. Yep, just like that. The very first person who came to look at her bought her at our full asking price. No haggling, no negotiations, no inspection, no survey, no sea trial... just bought her right then and there. Now that the sale is final, we will be making a delivery of the boat to the West side of Florida. The new owner lives in Bradenton, and they paid us an additional delivery sum to relocate Sandflea to a marina that is much closer to where they live. While our time with Sandflea is certainly drawing to a close, we're thankful for the opportunity to spend a few more days with her during this trip across Florida via the Okeechobee Waterway. The other emotional event we are dealing with is that our time has come to part ways with Wes and Kate. We've enjoyed an amazing time together as we explored parts of the Bahamas together, but now they need to start heading North and we are about to head West.
