We continue our Italian saga as we travel along the Ligurian coastline heading for Le Grazie, join us as we pass the famous Cinque Terre a UNESCO world heritage site. We anchor for an extended period in this fantastic harbour and explore the surrounding area by foot, bike and bus !

We visit the beautiful anchorage at Hyeres , take the dog paddle boarding and get "attacked" by an angry octopus that Nat stood on by accident.

We up anchor and run for cover in this episode as hurricane strength winds batter the Italian coastline, the video covers not only our story but illustrates the destructive forces of nature as the storm destroys, homes , businesses and takes lives.

In this episode Ian is away doing a delivery from Mallorca to La Spezia on a Sunseeker. So Natalie and Nelson go solo. We meet new cruising friends, with dogs for Nelson to play with. We walk to Porto Venere for a look around. Then Nat cycles to La Spezia to a pet store because Nelson is out of food and several items go overboard! We then meet Ian on his return.

In this episode we leave Port di Imperia and head East to Santa Margherita Ligure. We see several dolphins, pick up a new command for Admiral Nelson and sit out a storm. We anchor inside the harbour wall and explore the picture perfect village. We also walk along the coastal and woodland path to Portofino.

While we winter in Porto Mirabella Marina in La Spezia in Italy we get stuck into more upgrades. We fit a new Marlec 1200 Wind Generator and a new Simard 4G Radar system in anticipation of some colder weather in the North Atlantic in the not too distant future ! Remembering how it was to sail before worrying about CV19, we could go everywhere. Sailing in fine weather and excellent conditions, enjoying the Caribbean sea. We could go anywhere. This was a perfect sailing trip. Somedays you have it all. Two weeks later in Bonaire we were locked down because of the corona virus. A couple of weeks later the Panama canal closed and conditionally reopened two months thereafter. We decided it was the ending of our plans in 2020. Doomed to beautiful Bonaire and decided to wait out hurricane season here to see how the world looks like at the end of 2020. New plans have to be made.....

We got lucky. The past storm made us believe in timing, as we were supposed to be underway during it all. My grandfathers passing, on the other hand, couldn’t have come at a worse time. It was no way I could be there, and with the funeral set – my last little hope was to at least be connected so I could have a phone call with my family. But, as sailors, the weather trumps all. Very often. It’s something to be said about trusting the timing of your life. Why should you? The difference between believing in a destiny and that everything happens for a reason - versus believing in your influence on your life’s path becomes crucial. Should you really trust the wait? Embrace the uncertainty and just enjoy the beauty of becoming? We wait for #WildlyIntrepidSailing and Cory and Alex to arrive in New Smyrna Beach after their passage from the Bahamas, and it turns into a more dramatic wait than we expected.
