This video is about Sailing in the Cyclades Islands, Greece; The Cyclades is a dramatically amazing circle of islands with each having a personal drama from the civilisation-ending volcano of Santorini to the illuminating remains on Delos. The Cyclades are located in the southern part of the Aegean Sea. No mainland protects these islands. They are more exposed to the northerly ‘Meltemi’ wind, which very much dominates these islands. The ‘Meltemi’ arrives during July and continues into September. it can blow for a day, or it can last several days. It can also funnel between the islands and the downdraft on the lee side of an island can increase its strength. Once offshore, getting weather forecast is more complicated. While it is possible to get grib files through satellite connection, those are forbiden in the Mini 6.50 class. So we get forecast through radion, lot less fluid than having grib files on a tablet, but it certainly teaches you oads more about systems, reading the sky, the barometer...etc. So we knew some more wind was coming, an as I was cruising along with a reef in the jib in 30kts of wind, the cringle decided to give up... So I had to pull out my storm jib in order not to extend the damage on the jib... this costed me a few position, but that's racing... Eu torci no nariz por cinco meses achando que nem valia a pena mergulhar em Grenada. Estávamos (e ainda continuamos) felizes com a vida noturna, os amigos que conhecemos e assim ficamos nessa rotina até que, numa noite de lua cheia eu vi o fundo da frente da Le Phare Blue forrado de coral. Sim, à noite, de pé no bote. Caiu a ficha, estamos no Caribe! Não tem como ser uma má ideia mergulhar! E lá fomos nós! Primeiro eu e Sergio, depois os amigos se juntaram. As caídas foram 3 ou 4 dias até esse vídeo, com visibilidade variada de acordo com o vento e com o tempo. Mas não há razão para reclamação! Vimos moréias, lagarta, pepinos do mar, poliquetas, peixe-leão, lulas (amei vê-las! Foi muito legal!)... depois a arraia, enoooorme! Ela me olhou com uma cara de quem diz "você está no meu caminho". Sem mau humor, eu estava mantendo uma distância de modo que ela se sentisse respeitada em seu ambiente. É assim que acredito que devemos mergulhar. Enfim, continuaremos mergulhando! E compartilhando por aqui!

#50 Après 3 ans de vie à bord, on en arrive maintenant à la toute dernière étape avec notre vieux Galway Bay. Le bateau sortie de l'eau, on lui donne un p'tit coup de jeune: Grattage, sablage, nouvel antifouling, nettoyage général, etc. On en profite pour s'amuser un peu avec les gens du chantier, et bien sûr, déménager toutes nos affaires pour que le bateau soit vide et prêt à emménager par les prochains propriétaires. The Burton cup is an event held by the Medway cruising club every year in October. Spread over 4-5 weeks it provides some low key cruiser racing and its an event that we always enjoy. So this year we are again crewing for Steve and Kevin aboard their Hustler 35. Its not a particularly racy boat but she sails well, and we have a good time, even if its unlikely that we will ever win anything.
