We love a good reason to get out and sail fast. We had 20 knot winds and were able to get up to 18 knots downwind with our spinnaker. The joys of multihull sailing! This was a 6 mile race and it's hard to capture the other multihulls in our class since were very spread apart for majority of the races. But for the record, that no one's monitoring, we won. :)

The SAILING HORROR of Boat Life continues & we get BLOWN AWAY this week. Sailing in the winter in the Med is not always fun! In this episode we make it to Elounda Bay, Crete after a chilly and grey few days sailing from Turkey. We are so happy to arrive to what we thought was a safe sailing paradise for the winter. With 365 degrees protection what could go wrong? Oh boy, did we not expect what was about to come! 45 knots gusts from every angle, no sleep again and our dinghy ends up tipped over. The wind gusts are so strong, the even almost ripped off our solar arch and it took the rivets off the Bimini. So, boat repairs have to be done. Just the next day we get a respite for the weather and enjoy some summer like conditions but not for long. Another storm is approaching, and we give in and seek shelter in a marina. This will be the first time in more than 11 months but after a CAPSIZE DINGHY WITH MOTOR ATTACHED we can not take more chances But we had enough of sailing life in Crete so we pack up in and sail west. Another few days of winter sailing are ahead of us again. Pylos is our next best bet, so we pull up the anchor, stow everything away, hoist out the mainsail and fly the genoa. Living on a boat in the winter in the Mediterranean? Who even does that? Usually every charter boat in Greece, sailor and even cruisers put their boat on the hard or staz in a marina for at least the worst part of the winter. We, however, were crazy enough to try and survive a winter at anchor. So far, we made it, (Kiki) barely alive. 😅😅😱 Do you want to know what real boat life feels like? Before they started their cruising journey they both worked in Logistics for Supermarkets. They had both been living on boats before they started cruising and gained experience by circumnavigating the UK before they set off on their current trip. Prior to setting off on a longer voyage they decided to upgrade to a larger boat and bought a Rival 34 from 1979 called Atlas. So far they have left the UK and sailed south to the Canaries, down to Cape Verde, crossed the Atlantic, headed north through the Caribbean and up the East coast and dropped anchor in New York City. Yes, another road trip for us as we hire a van and drive across Europe to Poland. This is where the complete engine refurb is going to take place. We tackle other small projects on a boat as soon as we return home.

There was a gentle breeze for the afternoon sail and Lift Off set of with John and Eric with guest Paul, followed by Satyr with Tony and Steve. Pontoon Charlie to see them all off was Dave who took the video of the two boats sailing away. The rest of the photos were taken from Steve. Ann had never sailed and said she was nervous and as the pictures show, she sailed with confidence under the guidance of Tony and Steve. Likewise Paul hadn't sailed before and he too got aboard and enjoyed this sail. Just what we like, happy smiling taster guests enjoying their sail.

I went on yet another cruise! The cruise lines continued to offer great value cruises around the UK as Summer turned into Autumn, so when I saw a cruise on the Sky Princess, I couldn't resist. This was my first cruise on Princess, although I had been scheduled to be on this exact ship for a landmark birthday earlier in 2021 - instead of celebrating my 50th bobbing around the US Virgin Islands, lockdown meant I enjoyed a trip to Asda instead... I had a travel voucher left over from that earlier cancellation which made this cruise even better value... But did I enjoy it? Yes... Were there things about the ship I didn't much like? After a couple of days of training in Port La Forêt, the crew did a pit stop in Cherbourg. The team encountered a few issues with wind gear and battery on the way to Germany, but the everyone reacted super fast, and fixed everything. The crew onboard actually didn’t mind having a little break after some intense training days and right before a long trip to Hamburg. The Malizia - Seaexplorer is now continuing its journey towards HH!

We have had the Havaseas, our Nordhavn 55, for just over a year and a half. We explored Canada over the winter and spring. We are now headed back up to Alaska. We met up with two other Nordhavns at Bishop Bay - Monkey Beach Conservancy. The definition of a "Noodle" is a group of three or more Nordhavns. In this episode, we leave Chub Cay in the middle of the night. No, we weren't fleeing the country. We just had a really long way to go to get to Bimini before the sun went down. We stayed in Bimini just long enough to clear out of The Bahamas and had a little trouble getting off the dock. But we persevered, left The Bahamas, and made our way back to Ft. Lauderdale. We had great down wind and were able to fly the Parasailor all the way. A last minute jibe was necessary to avoid colliding with a cargo ship. That was exciting. Note to all sailors, don't make drastic course changes while flying the Parasailor, if you can help it. We got a new refrigerator and another new main sail while in Ft. Lauderdale, and made our way up to St. Augustine. The lightning storm along the way added some overnight drama, but all was good in the end. We tied up to a mooring ball at the St. Augustine Municipal Marina and went home for a quick family visit. Thanks for watching, and we hope you'll continue to follow our journey. The Salvation Islands are some of the most beautiful islands we have ever explored! The islands are covered in green trees, monkeys, birds and TONS of history. In this weeks video we take you through Iles Royale. The salvation islands / lles Du salut are made up of three islands off of the coast of French Guiana. There is Iles Royale, Devils and St Joseph’s. There are buildings on the islands that date back to the 1800’s. The infrastructure on the islands are well maintained and marked with great signs that tell you about the history of all the interesting ruins, bays and graveyards. There is some dark history behind the islands as they were penal colonies back in the day and even had a stint as a leper colony. Incredible to think of the hardship and suffering all set in the most magnificent of surroundings.
