This sought-after three-cabin, Owner’s version, Lagoon 410 S2, combines aesthetics and functionality and is fully optioned for both comfort and blue water sailing whilst manageable for short-handed sailing. ‘Songline’ is the ideal live aboard with a comfortable saloon with the trademark excellent all-around visibility that Lagoons are known for. To port is the navigation station with navigation instruments and radios, with just offset from the centre, the oval-shaped saloon table and settee, the focal point of the saloon. The large and well-appointed galley to starboard has a three-burner oven/ hob, fridge and freezer, with ample bench top space. Facing aft, with easy access to the cockpit table, are the sinks, microwave and serving bench tops. Her cabins all have scenic hull windows and overhead and hull-opening hatches to ensure ventilation and the feeling of light and space. The spacious owner’s cabin to starboard has a queen size berth, office and forward, a large head with an enclosed shower and a washing machine. They fitted her for blue water sailing and cruising the Mediterranean, followed by an Atlantic Crossing and the Pacific to Australia. In 2012 they sold Songline in Brisbane, where she sailed along the East Coast and was eventually purchased by the current owner in 2017. She has been berthed on the Gold Coast for the past five years, cruising to the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Sand Straits. The family have mainly enjoyed the ease of getting away to the northern waterways of the Stradbroke Islands and exploring Moreton Bay. This type of cruising is a breeze with a draft of just 1.2 metres. The economical diesel cabin heaters would also make for comfortable passages in the cooler regions of South Australia, Tasmania or Victoria.

@sailingkasada spends Thanksgiving in Miami aboard their 1996 Fountaine Pajot Athena 38 Catamaran Sailboat. We jump on a mooring ball at Dinner Key Marina. We use public transportation for the first time to explore Miami and spend some time at Lot 11 Skatepark downtown. We also meet some friendly boaters who invite us to their bonfire. We continue to explore the local area as well. And are pleasantly surprised to find out there are firework shows over Miami quite often.

@sailingkasada Datin helps our buddy boat, UME, with their sail to Dinner Key while Karen, Kadin and Kam explore downtown Miami. We eat fast food for the first time in months and attend the Christmas festivities in Coconut Grove. And we prepare for our first Christmas aboard our 1996 Fountaine Pajot Athena 38 Catamaran Sailboat. Plus, we meet some new friends aboard SV Coconuts.

We set off down the Portuguese Coast in the thickest fog we've ever seen. At the worst points we could probably only see 20 metres ahead in any direction. But we made it safely to Nazaré, the surfing paradise and home of the infamous monster waves. We end up spending a week in Nazaré biding our time and waiting for some good wind and sea state to take us further South. It was a beautiful town to explore, although a lot of the time we were there it was just very foggy, which is apparently normal for that time of year. After leaving Georgetown, SC, we decided to anchor in Five Fathom Creek to put us closer to the inlet for an Atlantic crossing to Charleston. Our passage to Charleston was a little swelly and we were able to sail some of the way there. We dropped anchor right by the USS Yorktown for one night before heading into Charleston Harbor Resort Marina the next day. The marina was a luxurious 2 night stay before heading to Beaufort, SC. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V700 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. We finally get to explore Tobago. After almost 5 months in Trinidad we finally made it to the blue waters of Tobago. When arriving in Tobago we anchored in Mount Irvine Bay, a quiet little bay on the SW side of the island. We had to check in with customs and immigration (yes even though we were still in the same country) which is in Scarborough which is on the SE side of the island. Teagan and I took the dingy to shore, locked it up on a railing to the right of the life guard tower and restaurant and walked up the the main road. There is a bus stop right there but we decided to try and get a ride share instead which was TT$ 9 each. Scarborough was about a 10 - 15 minute drive from mount Irvine. We had to go to the Fairy/ Cruise ship Terminal and check in with Immigration first. The. You head out of the fairy terminal and east straight down the same road until you reach a Rituals Coffee and Churches Chicken on the left hand side of the road and you turn right, customs is a small building near where the huge red and white ferries park to offload people and cars. The anchorage at mount Irvine bay was incredibly rolly while we were there. We had friends who were previously there and raved about how great and quiet it was. Unfortunately when we were there there was a funny system of swell coming from the North which made for big swells swooping through the anchorage. The under water life and Mt Irvine was beautiful. There was lots of coral just in-front of the restaurant between the breakers and the still water. We also found incredible brain coral and life if you snorkel close to the rocks to the right of the hotel and dive shop. The reef comes up really shallow. The visibility wasn’t great and we put it down to the fact that there was a lot of swell coming through which could have been turning up a lot of sediment in the water. We spent a day driving around Tobago with SY Puff - Kris and Ingrid. We managed to do almost the entire coast line of Tobago in a few hours - it’s not a hard thing to do because the island is so small 😂 We stopped along the way at Shurland Hummingbird Viewpoint which overlooked a valley and the ocean. You pay TT$60 to be able to sit there at her beautiful look out, she gives you sugar water in your own individual containers so you can feed the hummingbirds. She also give you a piece of cake and a juice or coffee, we had opted for her fresh juice which was made of ginger, turmeric and lemon it was absolutely delicious! There were so many hummingbirds the felt like flies around our heads, swooping around us, chasing each other, sipping sugar water from the feeders and stopping to check us out every now and then. It was such an incredible experience to be able to sit there and have wild hummingbirds so freely buzzing around you. The roads in Tobago are narrow and windy, we are very grateful that Kris opted to drive!
